How To: Mod a Tron Legacy Identity Disk to stay on all the time and much brighter

- In this video, I show you how I made my tron legacy identity disk more than three times as bright and then how I adjusted the switch to be in a better place and keep the lights on all the time. It will make a great rave toy now.
My next mod for it is to have some sort of digital storage inside.

i almost did mine like that but decided to jumper the circuitboard to preserve the inline resistors and to allow for more internal room for other mods. but whatever works for what you need to do. :)
Just realized the data disc is a backup hard drive to your brain, so when you derezz someone you kill them with your knowledge, XD

About the data, you could take apart a small USB drive, cut apart part of the top of the disc, and make it so that the USB part flips out.
Either that, or have a larger USB drive on the inside, and have the cable be able to be pulled a certain distance from some slot somewhere on it.

i would say install more LED's into it, for a more constant, more vibrant glow. I also think it would help if you somehow frosted the surface for a more constant glow-dissipation, so that the light from one LED bleeds into the light of the others more consistently.

I'm trying to make LED lights look like EL wire through almost perfect dissipation. I got inspired with a Seagate external hard drive that had a bar (7in) that lights just like EL wire, but are just 2 SMD LEDs on each end and then a bunch of metal tape, etc.
@comedy4cast the switch came from my random bin of parts (then i minimized it :/ and yeah, its as simple as buying some ultrabrites and hooking them up in parallel
Way cool. I haven't really done mods, but might give this a try. So, I would get some blue (or white) LEDs. Any particular specs? Also, any particular part number for the switch? Thanks for posting!!!

you should mod it so the inner lights glow seperately from the blade portion of the disk... make it have a 2 stage switch so you can have the blades on the disk not glow until you switch it over so it glows like in the movie... so it has a dock stage and battle stage... if thgat makes sence...

btw if u just add more LEDs in certain spots it will make it look more realistic
how to make a "Tron" ID-Disc, 1. buy a Frisbee. 2. color 4-5 circles with red or blue. 3. try and save Space Paranoids with your new frisbe-I meant ID-Disc

A side note for the haters and trolls: My I.Q. is 139; entry-level Mensa. I have bedded over 100 woman (self-admitted past man-whore), been in over 100 fights (in and out of the ring) and fronted several bands. I was trained by Olympic coaches and medal winners and have acted in films and episodic TV shows. I can also build and repair PCs, install data cabling and I taught at technical schools. What does this all make me? Just some dude... Who has had to wear many hats. But, weird = not boring.

did you have to add any extra wires for the extra LEDs?
@themariomariamario it is dofficult, im not going to lie. it takes time and effort, experience with soildering and circuitry as well as knowlege of how to dremel out things.

@carsrock1996 EL wire sucks! The real effect would be to use A LOT more LEDs.
BTW, the Tron Legacy costumes use EL tape, NOT wire! There's a HUGE difference.

@LordDraconical I just get tired of the trolls... You know how it is. I can't imagine being a regular up-loader of instructional videos, video reviews, etc. I also have carry over issues from reading bad reviews for films I have been in; I can't help but just get pissed when people don't get something you've done... then post an opinion about it.

If I had this thing I would rather get it remade with something like foam but still have weight to it, so that, if you thought you were pro enough, you could have battles with them.
