- Hey there, all you Disney-loving peeps! It's your one and only dad again, ready to give you the inside scoop on the Tron Identity Program collectibles. Today, I've got my hands on the Identity Disc, backpack, and Sam Flynn Identity chip. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to snag the customized action figure yet, but it's definitely on my shopping list!
Now, let me tell you, my dear friends, I discovered a rather noticeable flaw with my Identity Disc during my review. It's something that really got under my skin and is bugging me so much that I'm contemplating exchanging it for a new one. I won't give it away just yet, but let's just say it's it bugs dad for sure.
But fear not, my friends! Despite this flaw, I still highly recommend checking out these collectibles. The backpack is perfect for holding all your Disney park essentials (and maybe even a few smuggled snacks), and the Sam Flynn Identity chip is a nifty little gadget that unlocks some cool features on disc.

They should have spent the money in more leds for even lighting instead of making it a bad Bluetooth speaker.

I’m working on modding the disk. Gonna have it done by June. Stay tuned. Proffie controlled, light by neopixel, button-less full gesture control. And a 28mm bass speaker.

I am pleased to announce that this project is now officially underway. Ran into some setbacks, but I’m all good now. Full launch coming before 2025. Thank you all for your patience. This is a project I funded with my own dime and no outside investment. I’m estimating a total cost of $360/unit, and a full functioning prototype in as little as 90 days!!
It surely looks cool when you wearing a backpack with identity disc on it. But isn't it too easy to repeat Beck's experience from 5th episode of Tron:Uprising?
I'm interested in how the modding community will make use of that SD slot. Sounds to me like it'll be relatively easy to hack. It could for sure use some surgery to add more LEDs and a better speaker though

But something better than radio shack from the 90's could not be that much.....

Great review and I could relate to the reaction when using the disc. At least for the WDW ride we get a completely new Identity Disc design. The Shanghai ride got repackaged Deluxe Discs from the Tron: Legacy Spinmaster toy line.

I did swap it out. They are all not great speakers but mine was particularly bad. Also the Sam chip’s voice recording are bad and make it sound worse. I changed it to the Rinzler and it sounds much better.
That might actually be better, those Spin master replicas were great
The disk and backpack were awesome but I HAD to get the cycle and figurine with my face on it instead so I could use the identity chip to turn the bike pink. I will never EVER regret having a pink Lightcycle RC bike.
I had to go into my iPhone settings to turn off the “Headphone safety” setting to make the disc usable. It was super quiet before turning off that setting.

Did that make the speaker any better?
I wish that the sound played when the button is held down was more like the sound played when the disc is activated. It is honestly really bad and the LEDs suck, I almost want to pull mine apart and change it entirely
Totally unacceptable mean they had a chance to be really innovative here with the backpack in the whole system and they really dropped the ball. Just wait about a month or so and somebody will 3-D print a really cool bracket so that you can turn any of your backpacks into a Tron backpack. FYI, this is a re-purposed Tron toy from when the movie first came out. They just added the speaker component but it’s a recycled item. It’s not new.

Incorrect. I have the entire set of the discs that they sold in stores these are not the same size at all. This are smaller and thinner. This one is far better then the retail ones from the toy line.
@@Jpansta they sold two versions: a deluxe one with lights and sounds and a flat one that was basically a frisbee
@@nikolasperez7745 correct. I have every one of the ones with the lights and sounds. I’m looking at them side by side right this second. They are not the same.
Shout out to RamenNoodleBudget DYI on the Tron disc upgrade showcasing the original spin master toy so I’m sorry your speaker is not defective..it’s Disney if you notice the toy, looks nothing compared to the DYI upgrade kit …so Disney really could’ve done better!

Yes, it just does not make any voice sounds. It just does the wooshes and lights.
I still have my Tron Legacy identity disk on display next to my Galaxy’s Edge holocrons.

@@DadGotParks the old ones were really popular at California Adventure as we had the nightly ElecTRONica party which was so much fun. Tons of programs dancing and functioning as DJs. A really cool stage show to open a portal to the Grid for users. A giant Recongizer you had to walk through. They sold disks for both Flynns (black and white) and lots of mod kits and stands made their way to eBay.
I bought one. It rocks as a collectible. But if you went looking for a Bluetooth speaker, the sound quality is kind of meh. There is a bit of an odd vibrato to it that we used to call "tinny".
Very good description of the sound. It is a very cool collectible. I feel like they could have done more with the chip portion also. The Rinzler one sounds WAY BETTER than the Sam one.
I picked one up from eBay at a decent price along with the Rinzler chip. I noticed that on the more lit side of the disc, the holographic bumps have clear plastic in them. This would seem to me to indicate that they can light up, but nothing I do seems to make that happen.
Any luck getting them to light up?
@@DadGotParks not yet. I wanted to take it apart and see what’s going on inside and while I’m there I’ll add way more lights to the Disc, including the holographic bumps.

Trust me, it’s not a problem with your specific one, they all have bad speakers

I don’t think they are selling the disc, backpack and figure online. I saw a few shirts and stuff online but not much from the store in the park.
This is a very expensive see and say with fewer sound clips.

By 8:54 I had two commercials and two video inserts as an ask from him to support the channel. Not to mention he didn’t present the disk well with lighting not the greatest and oblivious to the disc’s features.
I’m sorry about the commercials. I don’t control where they put them. I like to go into the items without knowing the features and figuring them out as I go along and people seem to enjoy the process with me. Sorry I didn’t show it off how you would have wanted to see it.
This is all kinda disappointing. Maybe its the video but it only lights up in certain spots with no animation. Think i'll pass.
It’s not the video. You can totally see the individual led lights. It may not be perfect t but it is good enough for me. Maybe one day I’ll end up modding it.
Weak! Hug fan of Tron but these are terrible, and for that price?
