I've had the D-box system for about 15 years. Last weekend we watched the movie Mad Max: Fury Road in 4K on a 138-inch screen and Dolby Atmos. It was a complete immersive experience. We were shaken throughout almost the entire film.
He talked about the movie catalogue. How do they go about syncing it up to what you own?
On most popular action films, they program codes for Haptic movement. In my case I have a controller that receives the digital audio signal from my Blu-ray player. the controller then sends the signal to the chair.@@mephInc
I have found Dbox is either a love it or hate it experience. For two opposite reasons. People who love it say it makes them even more immersed in the action. People who hate it say it takes them out of the movie experience from the movement of the chair. I think that can be because people grew up going to movies and the seats didn't move. Personally it isn't for me. But I get motion sick on the teacups😂😅 so what do I know😂
I think it all comes down to calibration. Like with anything at home theater too much is still too much. If you have too much subwoofer, and it’s overpowering your mains, it’s a distraction. If your Atmos speakers are way loud, it’s going to take you out of the experience.
That's pretty awesome tech... would be cool to experience these sometime!
I’m hoping to have them join us for MWAVE 2024
How do they go about syncing this to your content? IE streaming, ripped, disc, etc?
He mentioned it briefly in the video. There is a device they have and an annual subscription.
@@Youthman
Yeah, he touched on it but didn't really get into detail. I'm sure he's more of a salesman than the tech guy.
You could email the company for more details. I’m not sure myself.
My dad got me the loveseat for my birthday with 4 acturaters and I love it!!!!! Believe it or not, long long ago I imagine what if movies you could have an interactive experience. And my thoughts begin to become real and everyday seeing movies in dbox is my favorite things to do
Amazing Professor Dbox you inside the movie 😊
Very cool! - I worked for a company that manufactured aircraft simulators in Montreal - This system reminded me of those simulators. - Cheers!
How much is the loveseat with D-Box? I can only configure single seats at the Jaymar website.
If you like back to the future, the d-box experience synced with the entire ride available on the blu rays is the only way to keep experiencing it. Man I miss that ride.
My local Cinemark has DBOX recliners in a couple of their auditoriums and depending on the movie, it does add to the experience. Last film I saw in DBOX was Top Gun: Maverick and it was the perfect demo. It did a great job syncing with the movements of the jets. There also controls on each seat to set the level of intensity for the rumble. Can you do that with that setup?
Yes, as he shared in the video, you control the intensity in their app
Super Mario Bros and Gran Turismo were fun in D-BOX seats!!
I bet!
I first experienced this sort of technology back in 2015 when I watched the Warcraft movie in theater, and it was great!
Having seen this, I love the idea of having this in my home. Seems pricey but I'd love to have it, some day. 😓😓
Hi, nice review thanks. But i eared they dropped the market 7 months ago. Do you know the exact restons ? It there still a place for potential new actors on this market ?
Regards :)
bugger, i hate subscriptions, can't I just buy a lifetime one off fee? and what happens if the company goes bust/bought out etc do i lose access to it all, can it be saved locally?
If you have someone mow your lawn each week, do you pay them one lump sum for a lifetime of service or monthly? It’s even more unrealistic to expect a brand to continue to add to their database if customers are only paying once.
@@Youthman I get that, makes sense, if they are continuly support their hardware, do you know if there is a plan to go open source or DRM free style in the case of going under or bought out etc so the hardware isn't wasted, can it be used with any other software?
I don’t see them opening it up. Similar to Kaleidescape.
@@Youthman yeah fair, but i think with kaleidescape you still have the stuff locally?? thanks for the reply, just watched your other new racing sim vid is great :)
Busy man Michael 😊
Way busy. Editing 1-2 videos per day. Have two more to go from CEDIA.
Pretty sure this would be awesome but likely could never afford it. I'll have to stick with my bass shakers for now which isn't bad for a fraction of the cost.
Agreed it’s definitely a pretty pricey system. There about $9000 per chair.
I got to watch Godzilla Minus One in a DBOX seat. It was the most fun I've ever had at a theater! I'd love to get a chair in my theater one day!
How much? Those red ones looked nice.
For a single chair it's $ 9600 U.S.
That is correct.
Do they come with a supply of motion sickness bags for those who might be inclined to that kind of result??
Unfortunately, those are extra
an eye-watering $9,600 though😭😭😭
I hope these or something simlair will become more affordable in the future though
Dbox has never been inexpensive. It’s along the lines of Kaleidescape. Definitely a luxury item.
They use to be half the price before Covid, but doubled up apparently because of “supply issues”. Everything’s worth what someone’s willing to pay I guess. I’d like to know if the Jaymar seats are 3 or 4 actuators, and most importantly if you’re getting the gen5 for the price.
@@Tat2inDego true, if they got no competition they can charge whatever they feel like I guess.
Hi, yes motion is very expansive unfortunatly. Im building a 3dof prototype for high end dynamic cinema like them, and i cant go under 6.5k for production without sacrifice a crucial aspect of the immersion. I could accept in a potentiel futur a sale price around 7.7k but under the marge will become ridiculous. But im still working on other solutions. Keep hope !
Personally I hate D-Box or any seat motion system for movies. I wouldn't go beyond those seat bass shaker system to create rumbling sensation to seating, those i like it. The reason is I was very excited to experience D-box when it introduced in a near theatre and it was horrible experience for me, not because of the theatre but the concept itself didn't work for me and many others. no motion sickness either. it was because of the static movie screen, so when the chair moves around while you are watching an intense scene, it feels like someone is moving the chair around and it distracts from the movie watching experience, i was annoyed and struggled to keep my attention on the scene. But I would love this system for an immersive gaming setup with the monitor attached to the actuator system so that the monitor moves along with the motion system.
so I kinda get what you're getting
I played a VR game about top gun maverick at dave and busters and that thing felt SUPER realistic because the headset was strapped to your face so when the plane took off and that seat pushed back and leaned you back it felt like a jet plane taking off for sure
it was wild and i've been dreaming about having that kinda setup someday
