There's a reason why you don't see funk covers on your feed as often as slowed down acoustic. It's because this shit is difficult to do well. Funk bands are all about each player playing a subtle line with extreme precision. One of my favorite parts about funk is that for the band to succeed, they almost HAVE to do a little dance to keep time. It takes so much energy to put forth precise subtlety, and at the end the total is greater than the sum of it's parts, and suddenly the audience is moving their feet while watching a little video on their phone a thousand miles away from where this video was filmed. Idk it's all just beautiful

It was an insane night: Stanley Clarke got up on stage to replace John Pattatucci on bass, they played old Return to Forever songs. Then Alicia Keys stands up, two tables away from me (I hadn't noticed her, had been minding my own business) and does a song with Chick (just her and Chick). Chad really lives the life lol.
I instantly fell in love with the song on the first listen. Everything is in the right place and at the right time. Another jewel for the ages.
The heavy Daft Punk vibe in the melody makes this song crazy good.
Guy with the hat smiling and head nodding towards mid-end was like "she's killing it!😁"
1st time hearing this was a cultural shock 🫨
