I come back here every week just to see the clapping man clap. How can the clapping man clap so quickly and consistently? Clap on clapping man, clap into eternity.
You guys absolutely need to use Lizzy McAlpine more. She has impecable phrasing. Her rhythm integrate amazingly with such a tight groove. Tight minimalist phrasing 100% in sync with the band.
There's a certain way Lizzy is singing the chorus hook line "Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother you're staying alive". Its circular in nature but has a pendulum feel to it. Its motion is like an egg rolling the long ways. This is one of the most captivating parts of this cover to me. Do other people hear/feel it?
The chorus of the song should flow like an old school pimp strut and she nails it. Like I say up there, her phrasing is crazy good. You notice that especially 3/4 in, the song section with only the bass and her. It's so tight and so effortless it is ridiculous.
Im sorry but excluding vocals, this song is a bit of a disaster, this is not even miniamlist funk, is lazy funk. The bloody song is explosive and these people just there playing repetive/predictable stuff with expensive gear that's it.

This video, as amazing as it is, makes me tear up because what I miss the most out of having music buddies, is that pocket. That pocket where everyone know what the other person will do just by feeling it. Amazing musicians/singers. Great video. Long live that pocket!
Since 8 days ago that this was released, I've listened to it at least 5 times a day, not exaggerating. Instant positive boost to anything. Stellar performance by everyone playing and singing.
Beside her angel voice. The drummer is also an expert. I like the way he immediately stops at 0:900 and starts again at 0:11. Every one performed his best.
I've watched this probably 100 times over the past 2 weeks and it never gets old!! I dont know if it's her tone, the Red Head backup singer, the backup singer next to her, or the guy clapping behind the piano/organ. It's great!! 🤣
She's such an understated vocalist. Won't blow your face off but everything is just perfect. If you want to dive down another rabbit hole with a SP vocalist, check out Madison Cunningham. Fantastic singer and a hell of a guitar player.
I can't stop listening to this over and over and over!!! This is soooo jam! That bass player and the drummer so in sync. The perfect wispy vocals. The smokin hot redhead backup singers. What a great performance. Everyone was working together and placing Lizzie in the spotlight - which is where she belongs. Bravo and Lizzie you are such a talented person.
My only regret is not to be born in LA, spending my life-time effort to become a great musician, meeting these folks to take part in this song and have 8 pairs of eyes to non-stop-see every moment and movement of every one of band members during this song ...
Everyone on this track is 🔥🔥🔥! I’ve probably listened to it 50 times already. Put it on repeat for the entire time I was grocery shopping. Some lady walked past me and started moving her head and couldn’t even hear it… that’s how strong the groove is!
Jack Conte is really coming into his own as a band leader (as if he wasn’t already amazing as a musician and founder) but recently it really seems he’s really heavily carrying song form and feel and really establishing where the piece lives energetically phenomenally, communicating that to the members in a way thats so clear but so him, we love to see it!
Today I had a rough day at work...but after hearing this again (was the last tab I had open yesterday), I've pretty much forgotten about the bad stuff. The power of GREAT music...keep up the excellent work, guys and gals!
Oh thank you thank you for doing this song straight. This is how you lock down a cover and make it your own, you don't add your own novel embellishments you just bring out everything that is great about a great song and then it sounds like you. Some artist can't even do that with their own songs but the Bee Gees sure could and you nailed it.
Seeing Lizzy singing on it is a big beautiful surprise for me. Her drifting voice is mostly fit into her acoustic ballads, suddenly it's falls perfectly into a funky production, without necessarily changing the feel of her singing really. Awesome
Fucking A, pardon my french. You guys are great. As I understand, the group motto is to bring and expose as many great young musicians as possible, to cover the greatest songs ever written, make them funky (songs, not the musicians) as hell, and do it again and again. I love it, best of luck to you guys, very clever and funky rendition of the classic disco song.
Honestly, I follow Lerman, Conte, Nick Campbell, and now Travis Carlton for the best time. I've seen very little they've done that hasn't been spectacular. Conte and Lerman enjoying themselves was amazing in this, a truly scary pocket that they were in and looking at each other like, "Do you believe we get to do this?"
We need more of this, live, not over produced, just well played with strong players and great musicianship. And then the gorgeous harmony singers...whew, good stuff!
Damn! That cover is everything a cover is supposed to be: a different take, but one that keeps that tune alive. Add to that the space and the lo-fi funk, and that bass--my God! Lizzy nails the second entrance and everything seems to follow. But that song is about the groove, both in the original and here. And that groove is irresistible.
The musicality of this entire group is incredible! Everyone is so involved and clearly enjoying producing this amazing remake. I can't get enough, so much funk, so much fun!
i'm so proud of lizzy and all she's achieved this year but i'm sorry to say but she actually isn't... "never gonna be alone" was nominated for best arrangement which means only the arranger (jacob collier) actually gets the nomination :( good for him though
You know, everything here is beautiful and skillful, the rhythm group, the guitar, the background vocals... But what strikes me most is the way this song became a song of the 2020ties - and I think that's due to Lizzy McAlpines laid back voice that creates an amazingly beautiful counterpart to the funk vibes. Excellent choice. Chapeau.
Every song these guys touch is absolutely made once again relevant, recharacterizing the stage of our common human condition. Within these peoples' talent pool, technical training and uncanny mash up style, there is an ambience of crisis, candor, and realism revealing meanings in the songs that weren't there before..
My God... I can't stop to watch this video. This guys are genius! Saw it so many times that my wife asked me if I have a problem in my head! The Lizzy Mcalpine's voice is so beautiful.
Both songs of yours with Lizzy have been some of my most returned to songs. There's something about the synergy that is just so satisfying to listen to.
How he does these little minimalistic call-and-response bits between his own lower and higher octaves, and between him and the guitar - it's one of the coolest things ever.
I was watching this and thought… ‘is that… JACK CONTE?’. Bruh i haven’t seen this guy for like 10 years. Jack Conte’s music and creative video’s were life changing. Absolutely amazing.
Yesss, everything about this is good! Bass line, everyone leaving eachother space, dynamics, Lizzy's voice and phrasing are amazing, but can we please take a moment to appreciate the backing vocals as well?🔥

Lit bass lines, also fun fact he is playing a Jazz Bass using only or almost only the front pickup to get a P-bass sound

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk

Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around

Both songs of yours with Lizzy have been some of my most returned to songs. There's something about the synergy that is just so satisfying to listen to.
Gawd damn the back ground vocals on point.
I absolutely loved it. Perfect arrangement for her voice. It was another feel good vibe from y'all. Right on!!
Can somebody PLEASE write down the Tabs for whatever wizardry this bass player is doing? His feel is out of this world! It‘s really a scary pocket 😅
How he does these little minimalistic call-and-response bits between his own lower and higher octaves, and between him and the guitar - it's one of the coolest things ever.
That’s Travis Carlton, son of Larry Carton. He’s an absolutely amazing bass player!
@@jlr022159ie., it’s genetic…
I was watching this and thought… ‘is that… JACK CONTE?’. Bruh i haven’t seen this guy for like 10 years. Jack Conte’s music and creative video’s were life changing. Absolutely amazing.
just when i thought my day couldnt get better, i get another epic cover with lizzy. Thank you
John Conte is funny, amusing, excited, inspirational and contributes greatly to the performances. 😺🥁🦄
I think I've watched this well over a dozen times now.
Yesss, everything about this is good! Bass line, everyone leaving eachother space, dynamics, Lizzy's voice and phrasing are amazing, but can we please take a moment to appreciate the backing vocals as well?🔥
I’ve never listened to the lyrics before this. Awesome performance!
