This is a haaaaaard tune to cover, much less rethink due to the original version's funkiness. Steve Jordan's opening bars on the original are just about the deepest shit I've ever heard. That being said, beautiful vocals, I like that it's slowed down just a tad for funky breathing, and it's so great to hear Ryan take a solo. Keep up the great work!
Magnificent!!! Top-notch artistry by all and I do believe that this cover of "Vultures" is, in many ways, better than John Mayer's original. The sultry slow, jazzy funk displayed here is as perfect for this tune as I've heard in a while. The best part for me is @ 2:15 when Jack and Travis are intently head-bobbing to Ryan's second guitar solo! ( It's smokin' hot when played @ 1.25 speed also... )
Ah man, this is one of my fav Mayer tracks and I love how you found this wonderful combination of funk but threw in some amazing blues licks and chords in there. What a jam!❤❤
This looks like this is from the same recording session as the Rozzi video. Ryan, you were killing the solos that day. This one is great but the other one is something special. Great job man. I'd like more
1.) This band outclasses my musicianship 100000000 to 1 2.) It's hard to imagine a Scary Pockets rendition of a song that's not fantastic. 3.) I do feel like this one eliminates a few parts that give the song its soul... Thinking specifically of the vocal bridge "ooooooh ooooooh" and some version of the guitar riff that drives the beginning of the song.
What happens at 2:27? Scary Pockets easter egg by the editor or am I hearing it wrong? Does his ride sound like a hi-hat? Thanks for this great video. Incredible voice!!! *It also happens later on at 2:35! I see a pattern 🤣

Again, great cover. However, I am wondering why the 3rd verse, see below, is missing here when it's in the original by John Mayer...? Not complaining by any measure, just curious, but that verse not being in this near-perfect cover messes me up every time I'm singing along with the fabulous Madelyn Grant... 3rd verse: ♬♪ "Wheels up...I got to leave this evening Can't seem to shake these vultures off of my trail Power is made by power being taken So I keep on running to protect my situation" ♩♫

i dont know how a band which only does covers can have such a distinctive, essentially unique sound thats so recognizable. another great cover!!
Don't leave out "rotates musicians in and out of the line-up" 😆 I totally agree
Same audio engineers and Ryan + Jack never leave
Each cover has it’s own flavor too!! Like they’re cut from the same cloth but woven into various patterns. Kudos to the team
Ryan is a genius.
Easy,, they're pros😂
The additions of the piano were very tasteful. Filling the space between with a tension that complements the silkiness of of the melody
Finally, a Scary Pockets John Mayer cover. These are cool. Nice groove.
They have one of Gravity as well!
I could listen to this all DAY on repeat!
Bravo !!!!!!!!!
It's the recording session that keeps on giving!
Yes!!! more john mayer!!! loved it!!!
Madelyn grant My God!!!!!! Sounds so good!!!
Ryan’s solo is perfect. Nothing flashy but every note matters.
I love when he shines!
Funk juice dripping from his fingers.
And on a big, fat Gibson, too (as opposed to Mayer's Strat)! Made it ESPECIALLY unique.
it really serves the song!!
Not only do I love this arrangement but I LOVE that you kept the same snare sound as the original! That is the meat & potatos of that song! ❤
The way she sings the chorus is really cool!
I love Madelyn's voice! Great job, everyone 👍
It’s soothing
This singer is espectacular. Guitarrist, espectacular. The mood of the song is increíble. More feeling nowadays, please. Congrats!

Fenomenal
the two little piano hits in the chorus are perfect
Yeah! This is so smooth and deep, with some darkness to it. Love how the videography matches that!
That. Was. Mindblowing. (Still couldn't believe most people don't recognise the greatness that is Scary Pockets)
On repeat !
Oo baby, Madelyn’s got such a sultry sound and I think this is my first time hearing Ryan solo..and he absolutely KILLED it! SO TASTY, man!!
Her voice is insane
I've been following since Pomplamoose
Love it. !
Excellent groove, and nice to see @TravisCarlton with the band!
First time seeing/hearing Madelyn Grant. What a beautiful voice! So sweet and clean!

Fantastic mile wide groove laid down by Rob, once again! Love it!
You cats are straight killing it!!!
Assassin is another great John Mayer tune I’d love to see y’all cover!
Vocals 👌👌👌... Great cover all around!
Wow. What a beautiful rendition. Fantastic guitar work!
Ooooo that was class
Tasty guitar riffs. Very intellectual and calculated playing. Super cool
had to be good didn't it?
It's a beautiful song to start, then she somehow makes it more beautiful. Love you guys!
Ah man, this is one of my fav Mayer tracks and I love how you found this wonderful combination of funk but threw in some amazing blues licks and chords in there. What a jam!❤❤
By far your best cover ever. Great Voice!
Great interpretation! Has a “cocktail bar” jazz feel but still funky. 👍
Love everything about this! The groove is unreal
Wow... That vibrato is beautiful.
It's a little bit gospel 🙌
It reminds me very much of Lianne La Havas.
@@jazzizmyep was thinking the same ;-)
Tight!
She is amazing! What a voice!!!
Awesome solo!
Nice sound Super cool everything
fire❤🔥🔥
Great players, doing great songs their way.
Had to listen twice. Once for the whole song, and then again just to appreciate the snare drum.

JUST WOW!
Great performance
Ryan Lerman's tone is underrated.
awesome ^^
another gem !
man thats sick!
Very cool. This is one of my fav song from John Mayer and I was afraid you’d take it too far but this is a success 🥰👏🏻
Cool!💗
That is STUNNING

Its sound like boring. But, real. There is a story, feeling. And its.done. so right.
This is my story, but you perform it perfectly.

I feel like calling this a funk cover of vultures is like saying you're doing a rock cover of Back in Black 😅
Wow..eating and drinking in this...
Divine. It's a pity that despite the minimalism of the drums, the ride is not heard
I am the Slow Dancing in a Burning Room button

@@shmeli logic fail but ok 👍🏼 they’re just vibing and he’s just so lost in that deep deep pocket
Hmm not sure this one needed a cover
Generally love these and this was smooth but for once not as good as the original
Original has much more funk to it
Pomplamoose guy
Drums kinda make it sound choppy
Drummer man has this whole thing so deep in his pockets, it's kind of disgusting.
Jack looks drugged
Nice cover but kinda weird that she's obviously not in the same room
not really.
This is how recording studios work.
