Particularly within student politics, the Conservative Party have been lambasted as a vindictive party, enacting policies solely in favour of their core block of middle class voters without much concern for the most vulnerable in society. The Union asks if this is a fair reputation, or whether Mr Cameron’s attempt to rid the party’s ‘nasty’ reputation has in fact been genuine.

Speakers:
James Hutt - Outgoing President of the Cambridge Union Society
Dr Thérèse Coffey - Conservative MP for Suffolk Coastal and Deputy Leader of the House of Commons
Jerry Hayes - Former Conservative MP
Lord Chris Smith - Peer in the House of Lords since 2005, Master of Pembroke College (Cambridge)
Jonty Leibowitz - Campaigns Officer at Cambridge Universities Labour Club
Andy Burnham - Labour MP for Leigh and Shadow Home Secretary
Conservatives are very socialist actually, very little of their policies are related to free market capitalism
Hey Cambridge Union
as a non-native speaker it is a bit difficult for me to understand all parts because of the low sound volume.
If you could fix that it would be great help.
Lukas Mevissen
+Lukas Mevissen We even bumped up the volume by 200% on this video :s
We'd recommend listening through headphones if possible, and turning up the volume. We can't really increase the source volume any further without serious distortion!
Alright then it's no problem
The head phones are a good advice
Thank you
+The Cambridge Union I think there's a happy medium to be found here, because I was wondering why the sound quality was poorer than usual in this video. :p
+The Cambridge Union Subtitles.
Do you take votes before and/or after your debates? If you do it'd be lovely to know the results in the descriptions or like an annotation at the end of the videos.
+Ron Carv We do! Good idea- we'll see about sorting that out for you for next term's debates :) If I recall correctly, the proposition clinched this one.
