No Stewart Copeland? :) But yeah i love Mike, he's one of those "make it sound easier than it is", non-showy drummers. And man does that dude hit hard.
This is gold dude👌, gonna go practice this asap. Update : getting the hang of it more and more, found out it's a variation on the Bonham engine, still I had an easier time getting into the Bonham feel/style because of the Bordin drill. Props too all the drummers out there sharing the knowledge and love for the music.
you should talk about the ways mike bordin uses his toms too. i'm not talking about how he sets them, we all know that, but rather his tom fills.. he doesn'treally do them in FNM music, not the "normal" kind of tom fills in rock music.
Nice vid buddy ! I covered some of Faith No More songs, and you can find those drums, and sometimes HH with foot is more complex (like in Star A.D. or Ugly in the morning), well it's really a special drummer and always interesting to hear (and learn) those complex parts
So it's called a flam? OK I always wondered why it sounded like there was a delay on the snare sometimes. When I tried to recreate it on a computer I ended up putting an extra snare hit 1/32nd of a beat after the initial hit, on a seperate track.
I don't play the drums but I've always liked Bordin's drumming ( just very full and boomy - Was not happy with how his drum tracks were kinda normal on the Ozzy album he did ). That being said....can someone explain what the Trick is? What's he doing that would be considered a Trick?
Matt Wallace behind the dials is a big part in Mike's drum sound. The guy knows how to record, and you can actually hear Mike's own physical dynamic, he hits HARD. The Ozzy album was recorded very radio-friendly like, every instrument compressed into its respective place in the overall EQ, with Ozzy singing over it.
I know Mike's left handed, I wonder if he's left footed too? That might have lead him towards that "hi hat on the beat, kick on the offbeat" thing, which would be quite unnatural for most drummers I think.
Don't know if he's left footed, but concerning drums he surely plays like an ambidextrous, with HH mostly on the beat, but sometimes independant (like in Star AD)
You are wrong dude...there are no tricks with Bordin, he plays his style, what you show can be applied To 10 (maximum) songs he was invovled to. Drum on "epic" (faith no more)...simple on paper...but To make it sound like he did....
This is pure gold. Beautiful.
One of my fav drummers.
One of my favorite drummers, next to the likes of John Bonham, Nick Mason, Dave Abbruzzese, Mitch Mitchell, Lars Ulrich, Buddy Miles and Matt Cameron.
great drummers
If Lars is on your list you should seriously listen to Drummers ..
No Stewart Copeland? :) But yeah i love Mike, he's one of those "make it sound easier than it is", non-showy drummers. And man does that dude hit hard.
Lars... No Dale Crover, Dave Lombardo, Neil Peart, Stewart Copeland, Joey Jordison? Are you listening to yourself right now?
i see none of u cultured people mentioned Danny Carey. Such a pity...
Bordin is ferocious

He's left handed, so he would ride the tom with the left, and hit the snare with the right. That's also why his feet go left-right......

Thanks for this!
Great job
Cool! thanks for making this
its just like doublebass only the left is with hi hat:)
with a little "delay" on toms
Muito fodaaaa
May be the same video , just with the entire drum kit..thanks

The trick is that using that word got you to click on his video.
Very good!, thanksssss

Thank youuuuu!
sounds like what he plays on he aggressive
Most of he's beat are like that , i mean in a good way , most rock drummer do the usual hit hat snare beat
Except you aren't left handed playing a right handed kit and leading with the opposite foot
It’s called “open hand technique”, he is right handed he’s just not crossing his arms for high hat and snare
Ok that helped a lot
Where did this come from??
Cuckoo for Caca
