I really enjoyed how you do your video. For some reason I really like the moss in the forest so I appreciate your sharing those clips . Enjoy your journey.
Fantastic! And smart to do take it slow in the beginning. Safe hiking and hike on!! Believe it or not those are azalea or rhododendron bushes They are huge!
Wonderful video! I am just taking up hiking and it is becoming something I am always thinking about. I must say I am most impressed with your navigation skills and not using the poles. Crossing the river would have been my downfall, literally, if I didn't use my poles!
Thanks. I usually use poles except when I am videoing. They make it much easier. Glad to hear you are hiking. Linda was not using poles for awhile but is now.
The bear scat with bear fur is the first few bowl movements it has after coming out of hibernation for the winter. They use the fur as a plug while they sleep.
I'm planning on starting my 2024 thru-hike attempt early next year, so this is really helpful. The last time I hiked the AT, I didn't start until April 11th, which was a bit later than I would have liked.
You ladies are either professional photographers/videographers or had some really good training & lots of practice, or you're just naturally artistic with your steady panning of the camera, slow upwards movements with a combination of foot treading and especially taking the time to capture beautiful scenic scenes of nature and taking the time with capturing small details of things.... I put you ladies up in the top 10 ten of other hikers videos I've seen on RUclips, and I've only seen day 2, so I'm sure all the others are wonderful... I'll keep watching to see how many you recorded from Georgia to Maine.
Excellent! Great photography. I love how you show all the scenery without swinging the camera around too fast. Too many hikers have a tendency to do a twenty minute selfie and ramble on and on about some meaningless drivel and show very little scenery. Enjoy your day. Stay safe.
I've enjoyed the first two videos. Great work with the camera and narration. Looking forward to watching the whole journey to mt. Katahdin. Hope you gals make it. Definitely starting early enough in the season. Slow and steady will win the race. Good luck and happy hiking.
Your professional-quality video work is so nice to view! Was just enjoying your earlier Foot Hills Trail Day video with all the great Fall color, especially delightful, not usually presented so well by hikers.
We live close by in SC so can get on and off the trail when there is pretty good weather. Just a way to make miles early on, so we don’t have to hurry to reach Maine before October. Also wanted to avoid the biggest part of the bubble in GA. A lot of people will drop out before they get to NC.
You are doing GREAT. Love your quiet commentary and wonderful photography. When you start to feel discouraged, just remember this little song : One step at a time Only one step at a time That is the way the Lord is leading One step at a time. Tale that one step carefully Take that one step prayerfully That is the way to VICTORY One step at a time. Good hiking - safe hiking - and keep up the good work. Aubrey - New Brunswick, Canada
I am enjoying the views through the trees, knowing that in a few short weeks, they will unfortunately be blocked by leaves. I love your fascination with all things plants, mushrooms, geology, and textures along your hike. This is going to be a great journey. - Jiffy Pop
Greetings from snow covered central Saskatchewan. Really enjoying this. Very interested in the trees & plants (& birds) you're seeing as this environment is so different from our boreal area.
I hope to see some snow on the trail. Not as much as you probably have, but enough to get some great pictures and video. Loved your area when we drove down from Alaska.
I only see bears from my car, driving to my hikes. I have heard a few running away and have seen a lot of fresh scat. Apparently I scare it out of them. Our bears in SC are pretty timid unlike bears along the AT.
Great day, fantastic video. Thanks for the cooking demonstration. Recommend to put your lid on top when boiling. Speed up process and definitely conserves gas. I’m sure you realize with your particular pot, it just rests upside down on top when boiling. Keep having fun. Glad your new pad is working out for you! Happy Trails
Sasafrass I swear that would never end lol its a taste of whats to come. Your doing good!! I see the water levels still arent what they were last April you couldn't cross Justice creek without getting your feet wet unless you had boots. It does look better than in November a lot of water was dried up. I am actually headed that way soon going to get a few miles done before I start in April. Stay safe and keep it up.
You are going to love Blood Mountain. So beautiful! Reminds me a lot of the Table Rock end of the Foothills Trail. The rest of the AT so far reminds me of the side of the Foothills Trail you did with us. A lot of ups and downs but nothing sketchy….yet. I know it is coming Lol.
Yes it is really well marked and maintained. We have the FarOut app but only use it to check for shelters elevation and water. We had some places around Blood Mountain that we really had to search for blazes in all the boulders. They weren’t always obvious but they were there.
I looked but did not see any mention of your video gear. Can you let us know what you are using. The video quality is very impressive (plus good editing and choices). Thanks!
Thank you! I am just using an IPhone 13 Pro Max. I have ulanzi mics that I should be using in the wind but I haven’t yet. Editing with CapCut. Decided not to carry heavier cameras. Linda films some with her camera but still having problems with quality there. Probably just settings.
I have Altra Lone Peak mid boots and Hoka Speed Goats trail runners. You may see both in videos while I am close enough to home to switch them out. Still deciding which I like better.
iPhone 13 Pro Max and editing with CapCut on my phone. I. Have a couple of ulanzi mics I really should use in the wind to cut noise but I haven’t really used them yet. Love visiting your state. One of my favorite places. Everywhere you point your camera is an epic photo.
I’ve enjoyed you first two videos on the AT. Your narration is quite comfortable to listen to and I enjoy your explanations.
Great video! Thanks for your work. Keep it up
Thank you for watching!
I really enjoyed how you do your video. For some reason I really like the moss in the forest so I appreciate your sharing those clips . Enjoy your journey.
Thank you. So many interesting tiny things in the forest.
Your videos are so comforting.
Thank you so much
Y'all doing great. Excellent video. Makes me feel like I'm there with y'all.🙏🙏🙏❤️🥾🥾❤️🥾🥾✌️☕
Thank you for watching. Glad you are enjoying the vids.
Beautiful video!!! Thank you for sharing!!!🥾🥾❤️
Thank you!
Good video, with some good views, so let's keep on hiking..
Thanks
Looks like it was a nice day. Beautiful stretch of trail. That's really cool that someone recognized you out there 😃 Mmmmm. Beef stroganoff.
It was. Stay tuned for Blood Mountain though. So beautiful!
Fantastic! And smart to do take it slow in the beginning. Safe hiking and hike on!! Believe it or not those are azalea or rhododendron bushes They are huge!

Thank you so much! I did take some TV classes in college and enjoy photography.
@@hikingmovie ... I watched day 1 to day 29, but didn't see anymore... How far did you get?
@@SylvainSybaris still on trail and updating

Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! I would much rather be behind the camera. Linda is learning filming, so maybe I will end up in a few more shots.
You guys are doing great! Let me k ow if you need anything when you get to NC!
Thanks so much!
I always skip the filtering if boiling the water. Less backlashing the better.
Great tip! I usually do too, but used what I had left.
Thank you for showing me the bear cable and box and how to cook. I love watching videos where I can actually learn something ❤
I do too. I have spent the last two or three years watching hiker videos trying to get tips.
I've enjoyed the first two videos. Great work with the camera and narration. Looking forward to watching the whole journey to mt. Katahdin. Hope you gals make it. Definitely starting early enough in the season. Slow and steady will win the race. Good luck and happy hiking.
Thank you. Hope we make it too. Feeling pretty confident.

Thank you so much! So much beauty to photograph and share.
You don't miss all the little things that make hiking so rewarding ! Such good content...Thanks.. keep up the good work
Thank you! So much to see and share.
What made you all decide to hike in February?
We live close by in SC so can get on and off the trail when there is pretty good weather. Just a way to make miles early on, so we don’t have to hurry to reach Maine before October. Also wanted to avoid the biggest part of the bubble in GA. A lot of people will drop out before they get to NC.
What device are you recording on, does an excellent job. Enjoyed the video.
Thanks! Just an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Editing with CapCut. Just started that. Was using IMovie up until a month ago.

Thanks! I love that.
Enjoying the vibe 🚶♀🚶♀
Thanks
Nice video and I like the way you cook. No mess in the pot :) Hike~~On~~>
I wash enough dishes at home. Lol

Thank you! So much beauty everywhere.
Love the views. Great job ladies!!!!
Thanks Larry!
I think your videos are very beautifully made. It is easy to see that you are a photographer. I can't wait to follow you guys. Enjoy your hike.
Thank you. Glad you are enjoying them.

I'm so envious...I dream of the day when I can do the AT in full.. so, for now, I'll follow along with you. Thanks for sharing your adventure!!
Thank you. I hope you get to do it one day.
Great video. Thanks for taking us along !!
Thank you.
The little ferns you pointed out are called "ground cedar". That one is probably southern ground cedar and is related to ferns.
Thanks for the info! We have a lot of it in SC too.
Doubt you see a bear this time of year. Careful what you wish for. Good luck.
I only see bears from my car, driving to my hikes. I have heard a few running away and have seen a lot of fresh scat. Apparently I scare it out of them. Our bears in SC are pretty timid unlike bears along the AT.
Awesome day 2 on the AT! Your doing great! Like you, I stayed at Gooch Gap Shelter on day 2 of my thru hike in 2020.
Thank you!
Your videos are really good! I love all the details from the trail :) and my students truly enjoyed this video for sure - thanks for including me :)
Hi Melissa! Glad you and your students enjoyed it. Loved having someone recognize us on the trail. It made our day.
Great day, fantastic video. Thanks for the cooking demonstration.

Thanks for the tip!
Awesome content. Love it 🙏
Thank you
Good content and I actually managed to find a hiking video at the start. Usually find them two or three months in.
Thanks for watching!
Great video! 👍
Safe travels!!
Thanks
I appreciate the views of the trail. Safe journey!
Thanks!

Everyone talks about Blood Mountain in Georgia but Sassafras is no joke!
It just keeps going doesn’t it.
Seems like the trail has been properly marked so far.

What kind of shoes do you wear?
I have Altra Lone Peak mid boots and Hoka Speed Goats trail runners. You may see both in videos while I am close enough to home to switch them out. Still deciding which I like better.
Watching from Alaska! Enjoying your videos. What is your recording setup? Phone, camera, editing software, etc.? You guys are doing great!

Excellent vid production, nice views of nature, reminds me of Grainger from Campfire Confidential; have you seen the folks from Couch to Trail?
Thank you! Yes love them! They started just after me, we took a few days off so I think they are ahead of us now.
Is there ever really an easy day on the AT? 😜Way to go, ladies! You’re killing it!
🏕🏔👍✌️
On thing
The music is kind of distracting. To me doesn’t add anything I prefer just the quiet along with natures sounds along with your commentary
Thanks I will be sure I always have some parts without the music too.
Good idea not to push too hard to start with. Take care of your body as you will need it later.
Injuries are my biggest fear. Taking a few days off at a time at the beginning to rest and recover while we are close to home too.
You don't miss all the little things that make hiking so rewarding ! Such good content...Thanks.. keep up the good work
Thank you! There is always something to discover. Even in winter the forest is beautiful.
