      Thank you. I love watching others gear videos. I still watch them. Will probably do a few more on other types of gear I used and updates I have made. I got a few new items for Christmas.

    I stayed on that same beach in the 100 mile wilderness, in front of the big boulder :) Same Pack & Tent too!

    • @hikingmovie
      @hikingmovie  7 месяцев назад +2

      It was a great spot, wasn’t it. It looks like there is usually more beach there, but the lake level was really high from all the rain. Barely had room. If there had been any wind or waves my tent would have been swamped. There was supposed to be another beach campsite right before it, that was completely underwater.

    Check out the Paria needle stakes, they're nearly identical to the discontinued MSR stakes you like

      Ooh thanks for the tip! Will definitely do that. I only bent one of those a tiny bit and pounded them with rocks into roots and rocks accidentally. I was rough on them.

    Nice setup exactly like mine except for I don't have the dcf tent I have the regular silipoly

    • @hikingmovie
      @hikingmovie  7 месяцев назад +1

      I saw so many silpoly tents on the trail too. I didn’t hear any complaints about either tent. Several people I hiked with had them. Heisenberg had the silpoly. Bailout upgraded from another tent to the Pro and Possum had a Pro.

    I can't afford the Durston Pro. Did you come across anyone on the trail with the regular one and how did they like it? Thank you for this gear review!

    • @hikingmovie
      @hikingmovie  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes Heisenberg had one. I hiked with him for awhile. He loved his. I ran into quite a few others with them too and didn’t hear one negative thing about the regular xmid. Everyone seemed to love them.

      Foothills Trail or Palmetto Trail since they are close to where I live now. Would love to hike part or all of the PCT because that is home. Born and raised out there.

    Hi Joann. Did you ladies have your trail name decided for you, or did you pick your own?

    • @hikingmovie
      @hikingmovie  7 месяцев назад +2

      Bailouts name was given to her on a previous hike by Fresh Ground when she left the trail- it was a planned exit. She wasn’t actually bailing out and only planned to hike a couple of days, but she liked it and decided to keep it as her trail name.
      Greyhound was a nickname I already had, short for ‘crazy greyhound lady’ I hike with my greyhounds and also did greyhound adoption since 2001. I decided to just continue using that on trail unless a better suggestion came up.
      Some people had a name when they started some didn’t. Some chose their own names. You can choose to accept a name or not. Some people just used their own names and never accepted a trail name. Totally up to you.

    Did you have a problem with condensation in the Durston?

    • @hikingmovie
      @hikingmovie  7 месяцев назад +3

      This year all tents had condensation with the constant rain. I had a double wall Hubba Hubba tent previously and found a single wall tent easier to wipe down. I just wiped down the inside before I went to sleep at night. Then once during the night whenever I woke up,if needed. Then again in the morning before I dressed. If it wasn’t raining I left doors open for air circulation. Condensation was worse in the prettiest spots like lakes and on grass of course but I still camped in those places sometimes.

    the TR pad sounds like an inflated trashbag

    • @hikingmovie
      @hikingmovie  7 месяцев назад

      Yes it is still crunchy sounding, but not as bad as their previous pads.
