Guys and gals, I have been a busy fella for the last week! Let’s take a crop tour and see what I’ve done!
Grandma always said you can get more seed in a crooked row. LOL
Bingo! I’ve said that myself lol
Thank you grandma.
Just gained another reason not to have GPS
Thanks for the tour JT- black Betty is a beauty
Right on! Thanks!
Just awesome. Everything comes with time. I really miss the days in the fields.
Right on! 😉
That's the way our one son mows! He says why have a high gear if you're not going to use it. 😅
That’s what I say 😆😆
Interesting tour JT. I can see you’re a very proud dad to all the little baby corns and beans popping up everywhere. A very good feeling to have.
Right on! Thanks!
The Mini Pearl of boots with the tag still on, cool. 😎 As always I love the little skit at the end, nice touch.👍🏻
Every time I see that I say to myself that I have to cut it off, but then I forget 😆
@@jtsbarnngrill6873😂leave it, start a trend.
JT I look forward to seeing your videos every week. That's a good looking old squarebody. I'm a squarebody man myself I have an 85 3/4 ton and an 82 crew cab dually but they don't look near as good as yours. Keep up the good work.
Nice! I’d love to have a dually someday!
Now your got the tractor for it deep rip it 20 inches or more when I bought this farm the water was over my boots brack fenceing with cows it was one round bale or 14 wee square now it is 87 too 95 round bales not bad It was like a a rice feild wet now it dry good get a 7 tin ripper if it’s socks down on left or right pulling it just made up a crabber or roller put on back it will stop that or the tractor will be hard to keep straight 😮
Do you often tell your wife and daughter high on your way through the house, and by as you head out the door 🚪. I like seeing new emerging plants 🌱. Have a blessed day JT
I always do! 😉
Great Video. Just imagine how happy you will be when that piece of property is producing great crops. Might be worth running a sub soiler on that property to break up the hard pan. Thanks for the Videos, JT.
It definitely could use it
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 that would give any of the Massey Crew a good work out.
Always a pleasure to get to know you better. I don't know how you do all of that with a full time job. Hats off.
Never a dull moment here!
That pickup looks like a girl geter to me 😂great video thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching 😉
Thanks J.T.
The crop looks good!
Wish you a nice week.
Go on !👍👍
Greetings,
Marc 🤠
Thanks 👍
JT awesome video. Corn looks like it coming along just fine. Love those old square body Chevy and GMC Trucks!
You and me both! 😉
Thanks for sharing some of your life JT, I sincerely enjoyed this video
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Nice. That last field, I would normally rub a subsoiler over it to open up the deep pan for drainage, then run a plough at 8 inch to bury the trash and air the under soil, it would make it a lovely field to so. Also if you could get some animal or hen dung it would help too. Can't beat a plough to rejuvenate the ground.
Ever thought of building a chook shed and and selling eggs?
Once upon a time I had chickens in my barn, but I couldn’t get enough eggs to pay for the feed 😉
Everything takes time bringing fields back. And drain tiles ain't cheap.
That’s for sure! Mike that bought my green bastard and gave me the 1800 does tile in his spare time. I may hit him up if I get a chance to buy either of those pieces from my uncle
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 Hard to invest the cash if ya don't own the dirt.
JT,
Love your attitude and take on life in general. Farming for a living can be a very stressful. Hobby farming for the love of it is awesome. My hats off to You sir. The blue mountains are calling. Boe 😊
Well said! Thanks!
Another interesting video at JTs. Thanks for taking the time to do it.🇺🇸🇬🇧👍
454 👌 she's a beauty.
Another great video JT god bless 👍
Thanks 👍. Appreciate it!
Thanks for filing in the gaps of your story.
Thanks for listening
JT we all know its just an excuse to play with your tractors! That last field might have a plow pan underneath. Deep ripping might help it to drain. It helped on a piece I farmed. Lord knows you have enough horsepower to do it
Right! I’ll rip it this fall
Nice to see that farming looks and feels the same here and there, it’s all coming trough the iPad screen 🇺🇸>🇫🇮😊
Right on!
Thanks for sharing, if I'm heading north I'm stopping in. 🤠
😉
Good Morning J T, Hey more power to ya, America needs more young farmers like you ,helping to feed the world. Keep on Farming. 😅 And it's very important for everyone to not get too thirsty in the process. 😅
Right on! Well spoken 😉
1800 coming along nicely you are doing well fella 😊
Thanks!
Excellent video JT :) yes crops come up nicely on growing up growth and yes Farmers in my home area of Ontario Canada there plant corn and soybeans ! Plus not take hay off yet and be next month possibly also spray too after crops in too! But did Spring Wheat 3 weeks too too and planting back last months ! But heard Chinese are take crops for there food in restaurants growing up on fields too! Also I did my grass home today to and amazing me how thick plus tall gotten Lol! Also yes JT myself I restoration my 1972 Ford F350 extended cab truck high boy back in 2005 to 2007 from parts truck my great Uncle had in Red Deer Alberta Canada and was old farm truck too ! Then sold old girl in 2009 for good coin offer on and yes my dad was person like GMC or Chevrolet Pickup but his favorite truck was 1968 International 1 ton Pickup truck because made Ontario Canada and powerfull truck back then in 1983 they bought 2 hand GMC 3 /4 ton with 1 ton suspension because International pickup trucks were not made after 1981 ! 1990 bought a Chevrolet Light Duty 3/4 ton truck and I drove both and very good they were plus farm used on!
That is awesome!
I think knee high by to forth of July is going to be more like hip high! 1800 is coming along great I enjoy watching the progress!
Right on! I appreciate it!
Damn, I need that riding lawn mower!!!
😉😉
J.T. thanks for a bit of your personal info. I wondered if your farm was you livelihood. I feel that the family farms are the backbone of our country. My hat is off to you and I envy the hell out of you. I've give anything to be your age again and be able to do what you do. Please, keep the videos coming. Many of us truly appreciate them. And if I've said anything to piss you off in your other vids, please, it was not meant that way. Thanks again. Oh, by the way, what do you do for a living? If you care to share.
Thanks! I appreciate it! I work in crop insurance for my day job.
Good job JT that's a great hobby you've got 👏👏
Thanks 👍
The end was fantastic! We have the same rider, it came new with our 1100 when that was new. That low hole four speed in your truck, Spent a few hundred thousand miles listening to those make their howls and whines and rattles. My Dad kept a heavy glove in the cab all year to stick over the shift lever to keep the lever from vibrating at highway speed. What they lacked in sophistication and overdrive they made up for in shear durability. Thanks for sharing!
Bingo! Those will take a beating!
Enjoy and have fun JT😊
Thanks!
Nice one j.t. I hope it goes well for you. I no what it's like trying to getting some land back it takes bit off work to do but you will get there. I'm glad you're enjoying it that's main thing. The fields I had I was just doing hay. But working on the farm. We done wheat barley rap and hay and salage . Plus working with sheep and cows.. your doing good job. From Andy in uk
Thanks! It’s definitely a handful!
as a kid
lol ... had the Italians from town heading into our corn fields to pick the biggest dandelions they d ever seen to make salads .... yellin no dont do that they are covered with Round-up
😆😆
always nice to hear some of the back round of what you have going on. looking forward to when you turn the massey lawn tractor into a real puller seems like she has some speed already haha
Right on!
Another great video JT, I have slow seeds too, sometimes 😂, that Massey mower has a real good sound too it
Yes it does! 😆😆😆
Thanks for the tour JT, does look a nice peaceful area you live in. How far is it to your nearest town ?
About 30 miles north or south
It takes time to bring back soil JT.
Even with your acreage you are doing a stand out job. Patience.
Remember that land was literally non productive until YOU took hold of the reigns!!
Keep at it.
As a sidebar: Looks like the cover crop is for soil aeration after working it in.
More cost effective than tiles for now.
Don't know. We all are experimenters.
Hey, when you reach 20K you need to break out that grill Young fella"!!!!!!
Cheers.
Will do! Haven’t done a grill vid since thanksgiving 😉. Hopefully the ground will come around!
Thanks for the tour 😊
My pleasure 😊
We're no different on this side of the border. Our house is right next to a big hay field with a couple more smaller fields just a mile or two down the road. The farmer who rents them all out has been going up and down the street for the past few days manure spreading because the weather's finally nice. We also encountered two of the six CASE Quad-Tracs today that's owned by one of the much bigger operations in this area. They were setup with some pretty big disc units from the looks of it.
In this area the farmers mostly grow hay and corn. So come October time when the corn is ready the big operation that owns most of the fields will be out there harvesting all of the corn. So usually there's a couple of combines in one field and about four tractors running back and forth getting it all. The smaller farm that rents the big hay field next to us will get a few good harvests out of it over the summer. He usually starts off the first mowing's doing hay bales then he's out there after cutting it for silage.
I can't really classify us as being farmers but we raise chickens on our teeny little 1/2 acre property along with some veggie and fruit gardens. We're planning for a new house to go on the 12.5 acres we acquired last year. When the time comes we'll finally have the room for more veggie plots and a workshop so I can work on my dirt bikes. Also can't forget about the orchards around here, I always wait for apple season to come rather than buy them from the store. :)
Right on! If you’re growing stuff that’s still a farm in my book! And a spot to work on your bikes! Perfect!
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 Eventually having a sport to work on the bikes will be a treat. I tend to procrastinate with projects because I have to contend with the weather. :)
What a great hobby to have and great work👍
Thanks 👍
Hey Joe,,corn rows get crooked whenever you take a swig of blue mountain inspiration.
That’ll happen 😆😆
Yep JT unless you have a hydraulic bead breaker the thick sidewall on those big tires will beat you to death. I've used Muck boots for several years now. I go to auctions a lot and Mucks keep my feet toasty warm. I have a narrow size 7 foot so most boots don't go that small. Now that I'm in my 60's I have to put arch supports in all my footwear. AL B.
Right on! I used my screw in type bead breaker on those. It was all it had lol
Another great video, Thanks JT
Glad you enjoyed it
You should maybe think about using Sudan grass as a cover crop, it really helps improve lumpy hard soil...no pressure LOL
Right on!
Thanks for sharing your video I had a 76 Chevrolet square body 3/4 ton in high school loved that truck but the only thing that went faster than the speedometer was the gas gauge
Very cool! The one I grew up on was a 75.
Thanks for posting JT
😉
Great way to look at it, keep it interesting and a hobby-sized, and you always have a place to chill out, essential in this world of stresses 🥰🚜
Absolutely!
Nice property JT!! What do you do for a living? I actually thought you farmed for a living.
My day job is in crop insurance
Thanks for the crop tour i enjoyed it. I've had several square body pickups over the years .i have a GMC k 3500 now with a 454 5 speed .i bought new it has 320thousand miles on it still runs great.
Right on!
That’s a sweet truck I’d love to find a similar one with the manual transmission. Hard to find in decent shape though.
For sure. I’ve redone this one. Was a plow truck when I got it 10 years ago
Deep ripping get down 20 or 26 inches 7 or 9 tin ripper that good to see the massy pull
Right on!
Thanks for the tour, for just a Hobby farmer you got a sweet set up.
And your MF #7 looks like it mows the grass AND fogs it for mosquitoes at the same time!
It does! It’s just perfect around here!
That new Massey mower is quick 🤣👍🍻
You got that right! 😆😆
that Massey mower pretty quick ! we should race ( My JD 214 !)
We should!
Can't wait to see that 1800 all done and looking nice
Right on!! Hope in the next couple weeks. You guys taking care of the green bastard?
Great Video. Love your passion
Thanks you!
love your channel
Thanks!
Thanks jt for showing us your land. I would advise against tiling that field. Maybe deep rip it. Otherwise it looks like good soil.
It’ll get a v-rip this fall, then we’ll see how it goes next spring
Great stuff buddy. Keep after it.
Thanks, will do!
an old guy told me once pick a piece at a time and work it into your favor
Bingo!
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 for sure
JT. Going to order a pair of those boots. Muck boots suck. I never go through boots but Muck boots last about 3 months for me
At 1/2 the cost of muck boots I hope these treat you well! I e had good luck with these and the work boots I got from them!
One thing that helps me out is spraying on the planter
Right on!
Great video JT. Crops are looking good.
Thanks 👍
i enjoy your videos keep up the good work!
Thanks! I will!
Nice Squarebody- thanks for the ride
You bet
I almost bought a pair of Ridgecut boots a couple of hours ago at Tractor Supply. Thanks for your opinion.
Glad I can help!
Crops are looking good so far jt. I think you got a good start to a bumper crop.
I sure hope so! Thanks!
I had a 87 with a 350 throttle body wish I had it back
I hear that! I was lucky to find this one
The crops are looking great mate👍you are doing a fantastic job 💪have a great Sunday cheers from down under 🇦🇺
Thanks, you too!
I have a neighbor that has a riding mower that has some real potential if he could put a mower deck back on it. It started life as a John Deere riding mower but that didn't have enough power. Transplanting a GSXR 600 engine and trans into it fixed the power problem. I have never seen it in 3rd gear but just off idle in second it does about 25mph. Unfortunately the rear tires don't last very long either.
Holy crap! I’ll bet that’s a fun ride!
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 I'm certain it's adrenaline filled. On his return from the maiden voyage the owner had 'holy crap!!!' written all over his face.
Good to see corn and beans breaking through
Right on!
It’s bee a beautiful spring here in NC JT. I’ve never seen and heard so many cicadas in my life. Gen Z’ers are ringing 911 off the hook to report strange loud noises in their neighborhoods. I kid you not. The local news stations have had to run special reports to calm the younguns down. We’re in a mess JT. 😂. I like your old square body. I have a GMT400 OBS that I’m hoping to LS swap it this winter. It’s got a 5.7 and 3:73 gears and the fuel economy sucks given the TBI 5.7 only makes about 190hp. At least with a 6.0 I’ll have some power to show for the horrendous fuel consumption. Take care my friend and enjoy life👍
Thanks! I’ll say my 454 gets about the same fuel mileage as it did with the 350 it had before only the low end torque is 2x what it had before! That 6.0 will wake your truck right up!
Lookin good JT
Thanks
Ive seen damaged clay ground left to sod / weeds seriously reborn. Worms fixed things up too
Right on! Hope this comes around!
JT ,let the spray work ,some species of weeds take a little longer, patience will tell as you have plenty of time to spray over again if you need too,,a liitle slow shower of rain would be nice when the spout's are at your stage, the top seed surface looks dry
Thanks for the tip! We’re supposed to get a sprinkle tonite so that should help!
Keep enjoying your life and keep up your videos I enjoy watching them
Thanks, will do! I appreciate that!
I enjoy messing with old tractors I my a 1949 h farmall
Good for you to be farming and having fun! Keep up the videos 🍻
Thanks, will do!
J'attends chaques vidéo avec impatience fantastique job done and always with a lot of information for people like me who enjoy the Real life
Congratulation
Thank you!
Can’t wait for that 1800 to be done
Soon!
Nice truck.
Thanks 👍
Maybe JT should be thinking about attending the local county fair tractor pull this summer. You got the iron!
I just might!
I don't know about that? Tractor pulls tend to be expensive and if you are pulling as hard as you can the repairs get pretty expensive too!
Hello everyone great vidéo and tractor
Hello!
👍🏻👍🏻because one is just never enough 🤛🏻🤛🏻
We farm about 1800 acres 2/3 of it is tiled ,no doubt tiled ground is so much better to to farm .get on the ground early and yields so much better 😅
Bingo!
😉😉😉😉😉😉😉 nice like always enjoy your farming most don't .😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks 👍
Great video JT your fields are so flat and stone free compared to my land here in Ireland! The 1800 is looking great I must say. You mentioned a full time job as well is that wre the "grill" in JTs barn and grill comes from? Sláinte!
Ha!! Nope, my full time job is in crop insurance
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 Ah I gotcha! My dad thought you had a mechanic background with how handy you are on the tools and spray gun. Keep up the great work!
Thanks!
That’s definitely a thin spread buddy. You could easily double that up on 30 inch rows. That stuff will grow like a friken bastard like that tho lol.
Well, first time using that planter and with corn and didn’t know what to expect. I could bump it up for next year
I live on RIDGELINE in TEXAS!
Right on!
Your mower looks like it puts down a nice mosquito killing fog.
It sure does!
I use a John Deere 1250 6 row planter to do all my planting
Right on!
That is a lot of laps around the field. I know that far too well from cutting hay with a 7 ft bar followed by a 5 wheel rake. My hat is off to you!
If there was crazy good, easy money in it,everyone could do it.
That’s for sure! It basically pays for itself and my tractor addiction lol
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 So it's perfect!!!
I am jealous
😉
GPS what's that crank windows rotary phones ferguson tractors square body trucks corn up life great love videos
Right on!
Hi sea boots
Yes! Lol
Just curious, what is your full time job?
Crop insurance
I know your pain with weeds I got 200 acres of thistle to deal with
Those are tough to kill!
See if you can borrow some goats. Thistle is like their favorite candy. If you hit the same field at blossom time for 2 or 3 years it pretty much wipes out thistle by starving out the root system.
Yea but goats eat everything and they are escape artists lol and I have a total of 1000 acres with thistle problems. Would need hallova lot of goats
@@johntorich4015 Electric netting seems to contain goats well as well as keeping predators out for the most part. 100 acres IS a big deal but goats will keep eating thistle as long as there are some. The city of Calgary has loads of park land on some pretty steep hills and have been hiring goats for weed control with good success. Just have a look for 5 or 6 mins. ruclips.net/video/yopfytxzQT0/видео.html
Those Ridgecut boots suck I bought a pair they fell apart in about a month
Mine did too!
👌
👍🏼
How much are your tilling? How many acres?
Right about 120 ish
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 that’s more than I thought you were handling for a partimer.
I love your truck! No check engine bullshit. Too bad it's not mine. I'd turn it into a cartoon when I got done with it. Bricklaying on the Eastern Shore!
Thanks!
