  • Hey y'all! Welcome to the farm! We are still assessing and cleaning up from Hurricane Helene and the effects of Milton. We have had a few losses on the farm since the hurricanes and are discovering faults that we can learn from to be better prepared. Come along with us today as we go through areas of the farm and show you a little more damage and discuss the difference in the animal's behavior since the storms and end up finding a blessing. Today, I'm learning a new skill and will be operating the tractor and plow to sow the land and get our gardens ready for next year's planting season. We ask that you continue to keep our neighbors in your thoughts and prayers and know they will be needing our assistance for a long to time come in order to rebuild and get back to some type of normalcy.
    Here is some updated information on ways you can help from some of the channels we previously listed. If you are looking for ways to help, we recommend the organizations that the local residents are suggesting as the best ways to donate or volunteer your time.
    If you click in the video links listed below, these channels will have a list of organizations helping the affected areas in the description of their videos ~

      We are hoping she'll pop back up. I went out today to plant some more stuff in the flower bed and that's all I thought about was her being right there beside me. We will keep praying Snots is ok. A few days after we did this video, we ended up losing some of our chickens as well, so we are keeping a close eye out for an unwanted predator. It is hard when things like this happen, but no matter what this life throws at us, we need to hold on to those little reminders that bring us blessings and joy. We are promised a life of no more tears, pain and suffering for ALL of those who BELIEVE. Our hearts will remain true to that promise! Thank you so much for your prayers! God bless you and your family 🙏❤️

      @@CelebratingFarmLife Oh I am so sorry, but I hope the new chick and Momma are ok. She is a beauty. I will continue to pray Snots just got turned around. I had a kitty that liked to be outdoors in morning and evening living in Inner City. My Dad would let him out at 4 am and when I would leave for School at 6:45 he would be waiting to come in, then he knew my mom would go to work at 4pm and when my Dad was getting ready to head to bed after we were all taken care of, he would go out around 11pm. He would wait till he heard my mom drive up, one night he wasn't there on the Porch, it was pouring Rain and my Mom knew something was wrong, at 1am she went looking and calling softly, and found him a block over on the same house as we would have been on the porch waiting. She called him and they walked home together. Animals have instincts. May God Bless you as well. I love your channel, you bring light in to this Satan filled world. Thank you.

    How nice to have that little cabin. That is just amazing. Maybe it didn't lift the roof because the are could get out of all different directions of that cabin. In the old days when I grew up in Oklahoma tornado Alley, the conventional wisdom was open your windows and it won't tear up your house as much, but then I think that was proven wrong and everybody stopped doing it.

    • @CelebratingFarmLife
      @CelebratingFarmLife  6 дней назад +1

      We enjoy having it here and so glad to see it still standing. We always worry about a bad storm blowing it down, but it always seems to survive. It is very open and that may help to keep it in place. We couldn't imagine growing up in tornado alley. That had to be pretty scary. I think we've heard something like that before too, but just recently we've heard to shut all the inner doors in your house - not sure if this works either if it's a really bad storm with high damaging winds.

    • @lostribe5130
      @lostribe5130 6 дней назад

      @@CelebratingFarmLife the wisdom now is you do not leave any windows open. And you do shut all the doors you can and then get in the middle of all that and just have as much between you and the outside as possible.

  • @lostribe5130
    @lostribe5130 7 дней назад

    One of the suggestions for tornadoes when I sent off for a packet about safe rooms and cellars is you can sink a couple of piers and then tether your roof to those. Of course that works best on new builds where you can do it under the home. But I also saw some drawings for doing it outside of a structure and then connecting wide bands and cinching them down type to the top of the pier sticking out of the ground. On some of those smaller buildings you might only need to put a couple but it might still curl up one end like it did there but at least might not just take the whole thing off.

    • @CelebratingFarmLife
      @CelebratingFarmLife  6 дней назад +1

      Thank you so much, that is a great suggestion! We did think about that but were worried it would be tripping hazards for the cows and goats and something they could get injured on. Bill was installing them before the hurricane on a lot of buildings in another county closer to Georgia that got hit really hard.

    • @lostribe5130
      @lostribe5130 6 дней назад

      @@CelebratingFarmLife yes, they would be kind of in the way. Maybe if they came up about 3 ft and it was like a concrete pillar and then attached to that but still in the way but not a trip hazard.

      That is true! We are just trying to divert any water that comes down that hill. The barn is pretty dry inside. It looked like it mainly washed out the sides and most likely from water coming off the roof as well.

      @lostribe5130 7 дней назад

      @@CelebratingFarmLife that's good. When I moved into my house I had water cooling by the enclosed patio slab. So I put up a rain gutter just on that side and then I ran the downspout down the side of the house and about 12 ft out into the yard where I knew from there it would drain off toward the alley. And that worked. But you have to have a good eye for where the slope is. This year I had to fill in a hole with rocks at the end of the downspout because of just that many years of it dripping in there.
