- SIDEWALKS host Lori Rosales talks to singer Jackie Evancho, who is remembered for appearance at age 10 on “America’s Got Talent" and performances around the world, about her amazing musical career, her latest EP "Solla," and co-producing the EP with Smash Mouth’s founding member and songwriter Greg Camp.

"winging it" in the sense that she doesn't prepare for interviews, never has, rather responding spontaneously. She is authentic and unpretentious. What's your problem with it?

Yes, questions about her opera career, where she made a difference and what made her famous, still alive and thriving, she cannot shake it off.

She is and always has been a Classical Crossover artist since age 8 which made her successful and an international star as a recording artist and concert performer. What part of that do you not understand? After being corrected on multiple videos about Jackie, it' seems you are an idiot.
This is a wonderful interview. Jackie is an amazing artist and a wonderful young lady. Her new album is powerful, personal and touching to the heart, it speaks about the struggles, that not only Jackie faces, but many people face. I hope it is a huge success. Thanks for posting this interview SE

Solla is a very cool album. The songs that Jackie has made have such an original sound, plus her amazing singing voice
How can it be "such an original sound" if it's a throwback to the 80s?

@@franfan3049 It's not an "original sound" in the sense you mean. She is singing in a style that suits the way she has written and composed these original songs, which happens to be reminiscent of alternative pop/rock of the late 70s and 80s. Jackie grew up listening to music of the 80s with her dad and has always had an affinity for it. It comes naturally to her. Although, she has incorporated classical techniques with pop techniques to some degree in a unique way, which makes her "sound" genuine, with regard to this album, that is, unlike her characteristic "classical" voice while singing cover songs.
I found kitty (Jackie Evancho) amazing on The Masked SInger. I had no clue who kitty was until the reveal and thought she was the guaranteed winner. Her genre cross-over was evident then,
Jackie's talent is phenomenal; we look forward to her new and wonderful music!! I think she is just starting!

She peaked at 11 with Dream With Me. It's been downhill ever since. She has an average pop voice and her music sucks now. I saw her live 4 times. The last time she was 14 and could still sing.

I would not say her pop music sucks, she is a great artist in any genre. I do agree that she was more of a top star in the classical crossover market, than she is in the pop market.
@@richard40x Jackie covered classical and many other genres in her early career as a cc artist, which made her popular. Now, she is writing and composing her own music which happens to suit the Alternative pop/rock genre of the late 70s and 80's. "It's the way I write", she says, at least at the present while relating her personal experiences in her lyrics. What's important is that she's doing what SHE wants to do, not what has been demanded and expected of her.
She said in another interview, she's not trying to push her music into any particular market. Whatever style her music turns out to be is just what it is, could be classical, alternative pop, jazz, even opera if that's how she is inspired. So, it's not accurate to suppose she has become a "pop singer".
