Beautiful job of a beautiful song. I love it. But why does no one ever do the third verse?
Jesus said, “Come unto Me.
I'll break sin's chains and I'll set you free.
I'll carry you to a home on high
Where you will never, ever die.”
To me, this verse is the essence and the whole point of the song, and it's almost always left out.

@Conway Conway The third verse is the whole point of the song. The first two verses take the listener up to the point of salvation, and never complete the conversion. It's like chewing a mouthful of food and never swallowing.

@@generalbarry Even Hank cut off the alternate verses for the better known version. When I sing it I always include the extra verses.

@@hankfanhankfan7815 I know. A lot of times people shortened songs to fit them to just over 3 minutes because that's all they could physically fit onto a record. That's not the case any more.
You see the same thing with the song WERE YOU THERE. They cut off the last verse about Christ rising from the grave.

Oh sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble

Were you there when He rose up from the grave
If Christ isn't reborn, then there's no point to the song, and there's no point to Christianity. This point apparently goes over the head of most people. I don't get it.
