VAN FOR SALE AFTER BUILD How I fitted installed a Chinese Diesel heater under drivers seat on a T4 Volkswagen transporter camper van build
All the t4 diesel heater install videos I've seen this is the first one that I've seen to install the fuel pipe that comes with the kit 🙂 top job. Fitting mine soon 👍
Thank you much appreciated, remember to keep right when cutting the hole in the floor, about 2cm past what I did, I also used a soldering heat mat to cover the fuel tank to the left, its far enough away but play safe etc.. Cheers all the best installing yours, any issues give me a shout
Good job 👍🏻
Thank you, im working soon on anouther T4 im keeping for myself
Love that location mate - thanks for the tip !! Its out of the way, well tidy 😁
Its a good place on a T4, however does need to be as close to the chassis rail as possible, if do another T4 id dill a pilot hole from the underside first
Très bonne vidéo, les explications sont simple et efficaces . Bravo
Merci beaucoup
Nicely done, under the seat. I only would turn the muffler over as it's draining hole is at the top now 😮
Thanks for the advice must admit I'd not seen the drain hole!
Excellent, well illustrated thanks
Thank you, took a lot longer than the video looks! my first heater fitted
Great video! Will be following to install mine under too! Just a quick question how is the gasses from that exhaust? Do they get in the back of the van or not noticable?
Thanks, no gasses as as the exhaust outlet is to the side of the van
Thank you for the video. Where did you put the pump?
Fitted the pump to the inner metal on the seat base, left side
great video, where did you buy the metal fuel line pipe? It was not available in my heater kit.
Thank you for your comment. The pipe was included in the kit I purchased from ebay, the kits look the same but there are differences, some are sold without the pipe, id go down the route of a plastic pipe as the pump does the work, anything into the tank and sealed correctly should do
hi just fitting mine have you had any problems
They can throw up error codes but it's normally low fuel related from not using them enough, the only change I made was add a better fuel filter in line before the heater fuel inlet, all the best
Hi bud, great video, I've fitted a couple myself over the years but today was first time doing exactly like yours, how the hell did you feed fuel line through so easy?? 🙈
Thanks for your comment, I just thought there had to be an easier way, the fuel line will only go through in front of the handbrake sitting on the front end of the fuel tank, I'm build a T5 Camper now not sure if I can tap into the sender on a T5
Ok cheers, I'm putting pump under my van. Yeh think you have to drop the fuel tank on a t5
@@morgstar11 Just googled it yep tank drop on T5, I like the pump under van idea it will keep the noise down
Yes it definitely helps with the 'clicking' of the pump! Don't bolt it straight to bodywork either, I wrap mine in some lagging and let it free hang with zip ties
hi grate video i will do it that way, please can you tell me where did you get the heat resistant matting from ?
Thanks for your comment, the heat mat is a solder mat, nice n cheap but works perfect

Is the exhaust of the heater not touching the plastic fuel tank?
If you cut the hole to the right side of the floor and cover the exposed tank with heat shield its not an issue
Hi, thanks for the video! Did you use some kind of silicone between the square metal plate and the floor?
Thanks for the comment, yes a high temperature silicone sealer, main point is to cover the tank close by with a high temp shield / solder matt and get as close as possible to the right chassis, I've just picked up another T4 for camper build, also fitting the same heater on the left p/s or in the rear
@@vanlifenomadsorry, one more question. How did you manage to screw the metal plate to the floor without access from the bottom of the car? Or did you just glue it to the floor?
@user-fb7jb6wh7k No problem its great to see you like the video, I'm sure on this build I bolted the right two outer points on the securing plate and used a high temp sealer on the inner side to secure as its to close to the fuel tank to bolt / screw, it's not load bearing so a good seal is all that's needed, I've just picked up another T4 and will be installing a rear cab heater in that build. Thanks for your interest
@@vanlifenomad Thanks once again! I agree that good silicon + some self-tapping screws would be enough to attach the metal plate to the floor.
We've been the floor for the heater yesterday and it looks like in our T4 we have much less space available under the passenger's seat. We have an old heater still installed underneath the van and metal pipes going in and out of it are right where we want to put our webasto pipes. Plus the fuel pipe would be going the same way along the exhaust and air-intake pipes. So we have to use some good thermal protection for the fuel pipe (not sure about the old heater metal pipes).
Your video is very useful, thanks for uploading it!
What kw unit was that? how well does it keep the van warm in below 0c?
This one is 8kw, its only needed for a few minutes at 0c. very quick to heat up a small van
I have a 2kw heater and have to switch it off after some time as it gets too warm in the van, even on minimum power
Didn't you use the fuel filter that comes out of the diesel heater?
Yes a filter was used, the one supplied is not good quality so I replaced it with a better quality filter fitted on the inside of the seat frame
@@vanlifenomad teşekkür ederim
made it this weekend the same way, where is your pump? (because of the noise)
Fitted the pump to the inner metal on the seat base, the pump noise is ok, I've never used one overnight just in the morning and evening for 10mins as they are 8kw it warms up a small van fast
@@vanlifenomad thanks! And thank for your no nonsens (no talking), but absolut clear video!
So what components did you use that weren’t from the kit?
The jubilee clips and fuel filter in the kit are not good, I used better quality. Also the high heat resistant sealer
@@vanlifenomadthanks for quick response. You mentioned the fuel pipe in the video too. Is that also one that you sourced yourself?
@@vanlifenomadfinal question. The high temp shield. Was this just any self adhesive one you’ll find online and how much of the top of the tank was covered? Just the bit exposed by the hole ?
@jagobouffler6206 High temp cover was a soldering mat, not needed if you cut close to the right side, I covered the tank for extra protection. Not needed but safer is best
the fuel tank is getting in the way, how did you handle it?
It is close to the tank, I cut as close to the chassis rail as possible and covered the tank side with a large solder matt to make safe.

Thank you they are great heaters
