I don’t like to compare. Floor is great, Simone is also great. They both view each other as equals, as well as unique in their own way, and friends. As someone who’s seen Epica live 4 times, Simone definitely can hold her own and has a very strong stage presence. I’ve seen Simone windmill from the front row, it was fantastic. In this particular show, Simone was both pregnant and I also believe she was feeling under the weather...having this performance be at the near end of this 3 hour show.
I've only ever heard Simone in this performance but it seems to me that she's in the same tier as Floor, voice-wise. The difference between them is not significant enough to matter.
Me again with another Floor fun fact! The album you mentioned continues The Embrace That Smothers, a series of songs that started in... You guessed it, AFTER FOREVER which we are still waiting foooooorrrrrrrr. Mark, Epica's guitarist was a founding member of After Forever. Floor and Mark were astray for many years before this. So this reunion hits many levels of fangirlism. It's not the first nor the only one though, but it's still a big deal. Please please please After Forever: Follow In The Cry, I think Sory will love it!
Great song, finally getting back to some good stuff. Floor and Simone (the red) are beautifully talented. I agree that floor might be at a higher level, but Simone had already been singing her lungs out all night by this time. Great song from an amazing early album by Epica! Cheers 🤘
While I agree with your statement, even if this was the first song, Floor would be at a little higher level than Simone. Don't get me wrong, I love them both, but Floor is out of this world.
Yes, the European symphonic metal artists seem to be so friendly among another. Also when you see Nightwish perform. It's like a group of friends having fun on stage. No one is bothered by giving someone else the spotlight. They're proud of each other and they're having a blast. That's like the extra icing on the immense cake packed with surprises. lol
Floor and Simone are BFF and former roomies. She was the reason Simone took up singing, the same way Anneke Van Giersbergen inspired Floor. They don't compete because they are like sisters. They encourage and support each other on and off stage. And Floor's not actually very rock 'n' roll away from performing. She's an unassuming country girl who was badly bullied at school because she was very tall for her age. But she succeeded because she found something she excelled at - although she would be the first to admit it took a lot of hard work and training. She and husband Hannes (Sabaton's drummer) live in a small house in rural Sweden, with their dogs and her horses. I believe they first worked together when she guested on Evergrey's "In Orbit" - he was their drummer back then.
This is full of inaccuracies. Floor and Simone were never roomates, Simone certainly didn't start signing because of Floor, they aren't like sisters (they're just friends and colleagues), Floor and Hannes didn't meet when she recorded In Orbit, and Hannes was already a member of Sabaton for a couple of years at that point. In fact, Floor was already pregnant in the In Orbit video with Hannes' child.
Finally, I had given up on you guys. Epica - Sancta Terra is a good one but NW and Floor have come out with so many new ones recently. Simone is Floor's BFF as they were flat mates when they started out singing metal at 16 and 17 years old. Simone has also appeared as a Guest performer with Floor's bands After Forever and Re-Vamp. Many recent requests are for the 2020 NW releases "The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" and "Noise" but the best release since Ghost Love Score may be "Dead Boy's Poem". But then there are also Floor's amazing performances of "I Don't Know a Thing About Love" and "Shallow" at Beste Zangers 2019 which would be hard to beat.
Beth Hart "Am I The One" live at Paradiso is extremely powerful. Also her cover of Etta James "I'd Rather Go Blind" live in Amsterdam with Joe Bonamassa one of the top 3 blues guitarists in the world and his beautiful solo in the song. My favorite song by Epica Is "Cry For The Moon" studio version also love Epica "Kingdom of Heaven"
Floor and Simone are besties, they've known each other since college (possibly earlier?) and they were former roommates. They hang out at each other's house and their kids are similar in age so they have mom-dates.
this was very impressive in so many different ways. you dont get to see stuff like this everyday here in the states. Symphonic metal really isnt my go to metal typically as i am in to more of the american metal and rock but this was awesome. sounded great instrumentally and vocally. the fact that they can get two impressive looking women up there just headbanging their asses off with heavy melodic guitar riffs behind it along with the operatic style vocals and keyboards, its just different. Floor can really hold her own as well with the opera vocals. everyone always talks about Tarja when it comes to that but Floor really brings it too. Simone was great also. I have always regretted the fact that I have never really been able to see these types of shows live in person. This must have been a real treat to see live.
I love the contrasts in this video. There is a full orchestra and chorale backing these women singing angelically while long haired head bangers are swirling their hair around the guitars.
Simone was several months pregnant at this point. Floor and Simone are great friends. Floor and Epica guitarist Mark Jansen were in After Forever prior to the creation of Epica. There is a lot of history here. Good friends just rocking out!
Great 👍🏻 Surprising as it may sound, this song is actually about a suicide bomber who THINKS he’s going to heaven for what he’s doing but actually goes to hell. Epica’s vocalist, Simone Simons, was pregnant in this mind-blowing concert - 3 hours with full orchestra and choir. I recommend to watch more pieces from this show, look for Epica Retrospect live videos. @@ChrisPage68 it's too late to change my selection, I think. The way the Core Alliance is set up is different also from the other alliances in the way that we go in alphabetical order and each member of the alliance gets a song selection. The other alliances vote for their songs by majority vote, so often, people have to sweet talk others to vote for their song picks. In the Core, because we go in alphabetical order with everyone, songs are selected and put into a Trello list weeks before they are reacted to or uploaded, and mine was supposed to be the most recent one for the core but it got put into the wrong slot, so it's to be uploaded/reacted to anytime now. I do enjoy the songs you suggested though. Maybe if I can find the extra cash, I'll pay for it to be done

The best fucking band in this genre. I so miss this band! Try doing Discord or Dreamflight, Between love and Fire. Everything Floor is a part of, ends up being amazing.
I LOVE After Forever! Saw them open up for Overkill in 2008 and got to meet Floor that night. First time checking them out and became an instant fan. Nobody reacts to AF 'cause most of the vids on YT are quite crappy and everyone except for Lost in Vegas does vids. Sad really.
2nd Yves Roman request for Stabat Mater Dolorosa from the same show. It is a 12th/13th century hymn on music of 17th century composer Pergolosi. There are at least 21 music version of this hymn. This song was written by Simone Simons and according to her, it's about someone who died and believes they're in heaven, but they're actually in hell, but they feel good there, so this is where they belong. As to Floor and Simone. They have been friends for a very long time. Mark Jansen (no relation), Epica's guitarist was in After Forever with Floor and he was also in a relationship with Simone. So all very incestuous lol.
Floor has to most amazing abilities with her voice and she is one of my all time fave vocalists, but when it comes purely to tone I have a preference for Simone's tone. The founder of Epica (the guitarist/growler) used to be in the band After Forever with Floor as the singer. Pleaaaaase do *Fools of Damnation* and *The Divine Conspiracy* from that same album. Epica often has lyrics focused on spirituality or on criticism of religion.
I think the song ("Holy Land"/"Ground" as you said) is supposed to be about a suicide bomber who believes he's in heaven but ...well ... is actually in a slightly warmer environment. Simone said something about the Heaven-Hell thing in an interview once. Not sure where I heard about the suicide bomber though.
Second fun fact...This was recorded March 23 2013, Simone's son was born in October of 2013. You can find videos later in the summer of 2013 in which Simone is still performing despite being VERY pregnant. 😁
Someday someone will listen to the studio versions ...not 2 songs because the singer from another band is in it ....😂😂 The Divine conspiracy plz , me love you long time NOT a live version Also Vin , funny I like Simone more than floor...
Yeah, I agree! As much as I LOVE Floor, I also LOVE Simone and from watching other reactors to this they almost always give Floor the attention which is bullshit. Simone takes a backseat to NO ONE!!!
I think i like them equally, but i think the only reason they talk about Floor like "best female singer of our time" and about Simone almost as a nobody with a good enough voice, is that Floor is in NighWish. I´m sure if Floor never joined NighWish and stayed with After Forever to this day instead, they would not put them in such different levels of greatness, especially if they would know Epica first. Sadly, sometimes it´s all about how famous you are, and not how talented you are. Just like in pop music.
@@mindtraveller100 there is some validity to rhat, but not the famous band part..... Floor singing songs the absolutely, if accidentally, showcase her range, control, and adaptability, helped her to get to a bigger audience.
@@mindtraveller100 agreed, I never knew floor was in a previous band till I did some research, & as big as nightwish is I actually heard Epica's material first . Also IMO Epica has better tunes, (I do like both) I think them keeping a more consistent lineup has helped them . But everyone has their opinions & that's okay , I actually want "the fifth guardian" to be played at my funeral 😁
16:15 Vin, if you want to see some epic stage presence from the redhead, Simone Simons, check out the live concert DVD version of Kamelot - The Haunting 🙂
Yes, Sori, Simone is the signature voice of Epica....regardless the guest...be it Floor or Sharon or...whomever... By the way, I like that Egyptian Queen makeup look on you Sori.... 😎👍
There is a solidarity in and within the metal community, look at Ayreon, he calls and they fly in for his concerts. And even the fans fly in. Ah well...
Vin talked about writing the song to feature the singer. Yes, that happens. Reportedly Mozart wrote the Queen of the Night aria to show off the vocal skills of his sister-in-law Josepha Hofer. That was over 200 years ago. More recently, Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish seems to like using the full vocal skills of Floor. Halfway through the song "Noise" Floor does some vocal acrobatics that might be difficult to emulate. If Nightwish ever need to replace Floor, finding a singer who can do those might be difficult. They already got lucky with Floor, as she can handle the old songs from the Tarja era just fine. And now I better stop before I start the next Floor vs. Tarja discussion.
Love Epica! Love Nightwish! This is the best of both worlds! 😁 I have seen both bands live and Floor and Simone are both Amazing singers!!! 😁😁 Though Tarja Turunen, Nightwish's original lead singer, is still the best voice in the history of music. (Personal opinion of course) Fun fact...Floor Jansen used to be in a band called After Forever. One of their members, Mark Jansen (no relation), left After Forever and began the band Epica with his brother Coen. Mark is Epica's guitarist that also does the growling parts. Coen is the keyboardist for Epica.
In the metal Floor Jansen In The Blues Community you'd get an argument for Beth Hart Check out Beth Hart "Am I The One" live at Paradiso you'll think a purer version of Janis Joplin returned to life.

This man knows the majesty of Floor Jansen. She is the ultimate "singer" in metal.
And Floor is so humble about it too.
Anneke van Giersbergen is THE grand lady of the female metal singers in the Netherlands . She is the reason Floor is singing metal. Check her out
she is so adorable.
Floor Jansen 😍😍🤘🤘
Anathema- Storm Before the calm
I believe this is a relationship song. 🙂
Nightwish's new song/video NOISE has a theme about our social media driven self image that you guys will appreciate
I think Floor is one of the two greatest female singers today. Tarja Turunen (former Nightwish singer) being the other one, she is up there.
We still waiting u react to another Nightwish or Floor Jansen again...
Someday someone will listen to the studio versions ...not 2 songs because the singer from another band is in it ....😂😂
The Divine conspiracy plz , me love you long time
NOT a live version
Also Vin , funny I like Simone more than floor...
Yeah, I agree! As much as I LOVE Floor, I also LOVE Simone and from watching other reactors to this they almost always give Floor the attention which is bullshit. Simone takes a backseat to NO ONE!!!
Simone's voice is brassier. Floors voice has more color. Floor is just a "nicer" sounding soprano.
The best duet ever ( so people say) Within Temptation Somewhere live !! Talking about Harmony !!!!!
One of my favorites, nice comments. Perhaps you will like another song of Epica "Consign to Oblivion as well as i do.
The Divine Conspiracy is such an underrated album! I wish you would react to songs from it- Safeguard, Death of a Dream and The Divine Conspiracy!
Great analysis on the video.
Vin is wearing an awesome T-Shirt. Thanks for doing that. EDIT: Great song choice too.
"Floor Jansuuhhhhhh!" as grunted by Mark Jansen (no relation)
Anathema- Lost Control live A Moment in time
Oh my God 💜
Love Epica! Love Nightwish! This is the best of both worlds! 😁 I have seen both bands live and Floor and Simone are both Amazing singers!!! 😁😁 Though Tarja Turunen, Nightwish's original lead singer, is still the best voice in the history of music. (Personal opinion of course)
Fun fact...Floor Jansen used to be in a band called After Forever. One of their members, Mark Jansen (no relation), left After Forever and began the band Epica with his brother Coen. Mark is Epica's guitarist that also does the growling parts. Coen is the keyboardist for Epica.
Tarja is a great opera singer that tries to do metal. Floor is a great metal singer that can do opera. Floor is just a better performer overall, IMHO.
Tarja is good at what she does, but Floor's more versatile in range and style.
@@alexojeda9048 Floor iis just epic at everything she does.
@@ChrisPage68 Agreed. That's why I've been saying for years that Floor IS the best singer for Nightwish.
You sir, are definitely not wrong about Floor Jansen. Definitely not wrong. Good reaction, I enjoyed it, thank you.
In the metal Floor Jansen In The Blues Community you'd get an argument for Beth Hart Check out Beth Hart "Am I The One" live at Paradiso you'll think a purer version of Janis Joplin returned to life.
Love your channel. The best on the platform with the lyric analysis and the effort in your videos!
Please react to:
Sybreed - Revive my wounds
Soilwork - Rejection Role
Swallow the sun - Here on the black earth
The fuckary, and on my BIRTHDAY!
Dank je wel
Floor is headbanging Queen :-D
Anathema- Internal Landscapes live in Universal Concert Bulgaria
It's about a suicide bomber gone to hell, and he can't see it. If I'm not remembering wrong.
Simone Simons's voice is as good as Floor's or maybe better!
WASP - Heaven's Hung in Black please!
Celtic Frost - Synagoga Satanae
Celtic Frost - Ain Elohim
More Epica please.
Listen to epica ft. floor jansen- stabat mater dolorosa...
Spiritbox "Blessed Be" you wont be disappointed. You're welcome 😊
I had not heard it, I loved it, now I must go find the translation because I do not know English, Google sponsors me jaja
Another Floor + Simone duet ? Stabat Mater Dolorosa (but no metal : a 13th century song). Another beautiful Dutch duet ? Within Temptation and Metropole Orchestra - Somewhere (Sharon+Anneke). And why not Henk+Floor and Henk+Emma on Beste Zangers 2019 ?
Xena and Gabrielle :D
Hi, I enjoy to watch most of your reaction videos, if you want to see Floor in different again, please check out her performance with her former band REVAMP with song DISDAIN, live version at Graspop
It's great to see big Vin so gleefully embracing Floor. He looks like a kid in a candy store.
Just ordered my Vin and Sori tshirt, and I'm super excited to spread the gospel!!
Vin seems more interested in whatever is on his side monitor, (catching up on the ball game?)
You need to react the new Nightwish song NOISE
Vin that's such a cool ass shirt! I have meant to mention that before
Victims of contingency from OmegaAlive next 🔥🔥🔥
This song was written by Simone Simons and according to her, it's about someone who died and believes he's in heaven, but he actually is in hell, but he feels good there, so this is where he belongs.
simone also didn't know she was pregnant during this performance
Something isn't right about the song, it feels like the video was played at 0.90 speed.
Agreed, it's definitely slowed down or something.
How can you slow down a live performance?
@@CLEnforcer
By taking the original video, messing up during the editing process (a fail or on purpose) and releasing the altered version as a new video.
Or forgetting to reset to normal the youtube player speed in the parameters.
In that case, i think they took the wrong video to react to.
