Since Erik ten Hag joined Manchester United, they have looked a changed side under the Dutchman. But one missing piece of the puzzle this season has been the lack of a number 9.
After Cristiano Ronaldo left during the World Cup, United have had Wout Weghorst on-loan to fill the void. But this isn't a long term solution, and despite Marcus Rashford being on fire this season in front of goal - his natural position is not suited to the Number 9 role.
But who could step up and lead the line at Old Trafford? As Jon Mackenzie writes as Philippe Fenner illustrates, Man Utd have a few options on their hands.

So the conclusion of this video is that the perfect nr 9 is the one that will "score most goals within Ten Hag's system in competitions man utd find themselves in"? Splendid investigative video, remarkable.
They have editorial deadlines and a specific quota of videos to make. You can expect some of these duds more often than not.

@@Hello-Mr-DJ Bloke just mentioned every striker which is linked with united that every nerd on the street would name
Was thinking same. Said absolutely nothing in five minute bounty full of words.
Idk why you’re all complaining
I'm sorry Seb, but mentioning Brobbey at all is very lazy analysis. He cannot even be a regular starter for Ajax, much less Manchester United, having only played the full ninety minutes twice in his senior career. He is an off the bench substitute who uses his physicality against tired defenders.
Ironically, Haaland would’ve been perfect no. 9 for United, and United’s style of play would’ve perfectly suited Haaland.
No - his build-up play isn’t what Ten Hag wants. Ironically Julian Alvarez would be the perfect no.9 for United. Ofc, I’d still take Haaland any day of the week!
I think olie Watkins from Aston Villa
Very similar to Alvarez
Not really

A Kane + Ferguson scoop would be incredible
would be like 150m+
Would be incredible but with this current board they'll only sign Kane & kane only while calling it day on the transfer window thinking the amount of shirt sales they'll see.
If we go after Kane, we need to sign another striker (preferably young) as his backup/competition. Martial needs to go.

Who??
Kane: has everything, excels at playmaking compared to the Rest.
Osihmen: physically the best, his passing is still lacking sometimes.
G.Ramos: has everything.
Kolo-Muani: has everything, can even play on the wings, only his finishing at times is not clinical enough yet.
Hjölund: is still very raw at times
D.Ferguson: Great Talent, looks quite complete already
Brobbey: couldn't even cut it at Leipzig.

What makes you say easy chemistry with Rashford?
@@coopaloopvt Rashford has been really “lazy” this year, I know he is been focused on scoring and all but he doesn’t track back as much as he did before…(Ex:Trippier last Sunday)And if that is not addressed internally, a player that could interchange with him like Benz and Vini do, would be appreciated.Kolo ain’t no Kane chance-creation wise, but he’s working on that on the bundesliga, he can play from the wing and he’s amazing at pressing the opposition. Like if they are on the pitch together either can arrive in the box and put it away or run it down the left wing.
@@msstry1 105m only for Kolo or both? I mean 80-90Ms for both should suffice, but we have other areas to address in the squad, some players to sell as well.

kane would be perfect for around 80m he'll get the best out of the other pacey players around him with his hold and playmaking ability and the minimum 20 + goals a season for the next 3 years at least

My ideal striker has and still continues to be Vlahović. Stylistically, he's a nice combination between Kane and Osimhen: good with his back to goal, good playmaking potential, comfortable in tight spaces, powerful runner in behind. He combines some of the technical/tactical attributes of Kane with the physical attributes of Osimhen.
Toney, Mitrovic? How are these people being ignored. For me, they should be playing in Europe with their form this season. Would be an asset to any Top 5 team, even as a substitute.
@@nathanfleming2462both have undesirable attitude/off pitch issues
I’ll honestly go for Kane and Ferguson as his understudy, Ferguson interests me because of his age he’s literally a unit at 19 and that’s very impressive
You wont get both of them in the same window
Ferguson with the right coaching and people behind him can be a seriously incredible player, that kid is a specimen
I would suggest Jonathan david as a good middle ground option, with good quality and being under rated at the moment, I think he could fit it to the system perfectly with a good amount of competition to get him. By comparison to osimen and kane, he seems like a more sensible option
Would not be surprised if he is the replacement for Osimhen at Napoli.
Kane is our man. Proven and zero risk. Him and a midfielder could take Utd to a title challenge.
and finally win himself some silverwear
Hjolund would be my pick. He is quick, links well and has instinct and is young. Can grow different attributes. Kane I better at finishing and passing as well as positioning and anticipation, but he at has at least 5years at the top and then they think of buying another. Osimhen is quick and strong but very expensive yet I believe utd need to add more to the squad in general. Man utd should pick a leaf from arsenal. Jesus has a box presence but also drops off in build up but they keep their wingers high up
They swiftly build and use bukayo and martinelli with speed and work well
Man utd has rashford who can do that very well. As it appears in the Newcastle game as well as fulham, man utd are struggling to build up from the back but also keep possession.
Hjolund would be my ideal. Young and quick and links well. If they let greenwood back, then he could serve as a back up as also they see if martial can stay or get sold
Jesus in Arsenal plays as both false and classic 9, a.k.a the modern 9 with Bukayo Saka as the Rashford while Martinelli as, well, Martinelli himself. So, I think that Manchester United should lookout for Harry Kane and Hjolund as two strikers that could replace each other, but with an alternative is being Goncalo Ramos who adopts a similar playing style that favours Ten Hag's MU as well. Greenwood was very interesting though, I thought he would have ended a superstar hadn't things gone as they were back then.
@@kohikappu yaaa u right on this. Another would be Jonathan davids. He also drops like Jesus.
Harry Kane has stated that he wants to stay in England to break Shearer's Premier League record, so it would make sense for him to come to United. The only cons is that Levy would demand a high fee for him, and might be reluctant to sell. If we can't bring in Harry Kane nor Victor Osimhen without breaking the bank, I think Mohamed Kudus would also be a decent option. He can operate as a false 9, in attacking midfield as well as occasionally central midfield, andI believe that versatility can benefit Ten Hag's system as well.
Levy has significantly less bargaining power than he did two summers ago, now that Kane is on the last year of his contract. If they manage to somehow let their club (and England's) all time leading scorer walk for free you'd have to image there would be riots. Levy's greedy and cheap, but not stupid.
i think they should stop buying/poaching from the dutch farmer's leagues
they should get kane, one backup striker, get rid of martial, and one more midfielder
Why is nobody talking about Enesyri. He would be a perfect fit for Manchester United, who are looking for a reliable and consistent No.9. He would complement Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho who can provide him with quality service and create chances for him. He would also add depth and competition to the squad as he can play in different positions and systems. Enesyri is a recognized goalscorer at the highest level, with experience in European competitions and international tournaments. He's still young and has room for improvement, so he would be a smart and valuable signing for Manchester United. Not to mention the fact that he presses a lot, perfect for ten hag.
Doesn`t score enough goals and it`s unlikely that they will gamble on him scoring more for United, especially after Sevilla`s season.
@@rizandroi mean he was the one who scored the goals to knock out man utd and juventus out of the Europe leaugue and played an immense part in winning it in the end, and don't forget the difference in quality of creative players between sevilla and man utd, i still think he who be a perfect fit and would mold perfectly to ten hag philosophy
We need more left footed players and a classic 9. We get the ball right up to their penalty box and pass it around until someone crosses… passing it into the box with a couple 1-2s would be ideal but having a reliable 9 to score some headers would definitely help
Obviously wouldn't turn down Kane but if we can't get Osimhen my 2nd choice would be Ivan Toney. He'd probably be cheaper than Kane while also offering more longevity and fewer injury concerns. He's also Premier League proven, would likely jump at the chance to be fighting for Champion's League football, and already operates comfortably in a front 2 so can see him and Rashford complimenting each other well.
The problem with Toney is that he's English and that would inflate his cost unnecessarily, there will be cheaper options elsewhere in the world.
Totally, I am shocked nobody sees Toney as a perfect fit, he is athletic and experienced in the league. He equally has goals close to Osimhein
@@nyendwa Most people don't suggest Toney as we are all expecting him to receive a lengthy ban from playing due to his betting. And it is quite obvious noone will buy him if they face the risk of him not being able to play
Okay bear with me for a second. My main argument against a 9 who will demand an automatic starting spot (regardless of how many goals they bring) is how it affects Marcus Rashford. I know people will say that it shouldn't but as this video alludes to, it's pointless to bring in a forward who will score but not make the players around him better, and there's still a lot of room for improvement for all of those forwards. We're not a team that's only short a 9 and that's it. I'd argue that our defence and midfield need more reinforcements. Anyways, Marcus himself provides a complication for ETH imo given that he's been thriving in a flexible forward position in which he sort of shifts between a left winger and a centre forward, rather than as an othordox winger or striker. I don't think anyone expected him to put up the numbers he has; the sheer volume alone has greatly contributed to us competing on four fronts up until recently and he could conceivably finish with about 35 goals in all comps this season. Given the potential that he could score more in a better side, I wonder if we wouldn't benefit from beefing up the midfield(and the defence) and going for a young striker who can add a sizeable contribution in terms of goals but not overly reduce Marcus' i.e. Ramos, Holjund or Kolo Muani. What would also help is if Antony and Sancho contribute more goals. If you look at the current league leaders, their top scorer has the same amount of goals as ours. Only difference is that they have goals coming from everywhere in the team, whereas if Marcus doesn't score, we usually don't as a team overall. Just food for thought.
love this. looking forward to more of Seb's narrations
Ten hag type of number 9 is actually a proper physical second striker
Ibrahim Sangare or Max Caqaret was the answer I expected
Christopher Nkunku would be a good fit for untied. He can play either as a striker or attacking midfielder. Also since Chelsea have probably burnt the bridge with PSG United should nab up Hakim Ziyech. He’s played under Ten Hag before and probably would be happy to do so again.
Nkunku is going to Chelsea they already bought him
My primary school “what I did in the holidays” reports were much more informative & analytical than this
This video was literally a load of waffle.
Yh. Facts. I was 3 mins in sitting there waiting for them to actually explain the type of striker but instead just gave options that everyone knew were linked to utd
The fact that you mentioned rasmus hojlund and we ended up with him ❤ it shows you know what you on about
10 mins into the next Tifo video - "United's recent winning form under Ten Hag can be explained by good attacks"
Right lol
As an almost 4-year Tifo fan, I'm just slightly concerned about the quality of these Tifo trademark videos. I think that in the past the videos were more carefully scripted, more data was used and the analysis was more through and interesting.
So in conclusion you are saying basically do what Pep has done at Manchester City. Get two world class strikers and play them as needed. Might as well continue to copy the best in every area they can.
Man Utd should take two 9 players, one as a elite-scorer player, expensive, and another like a backup, but very impressing and with a great potential (of course, cheaper). These players are Harry Kane and Rasmus Hojlund.
I want oshimene personally I think because he is young he can bring stuff to the team for longer him and Garnacho would be a deadly pair
Ivan Toney: already proven in the premier league + Ferguson : young talent to be molded
Kane or Osimhen will be the ideal options for United.
Both are good with holdup and linkup, good finishing abilities too
Both, would be lit! But I prefer victor, younger, hungrier more energy for the press.
Forget Osimhen
Kane is an obvious choice. I hate to say this but he'd take them up a notch. His profile fits whatever 10Hag will need from him. A false 9 to link with rashford? You've seen what Kane did for son under mourinho
An out and out number 9?you get that too.
I wouldn't be too worried about age.but this could be a signing to get them to the level they need to be at and then the team can evolve from there.
A scoring kind that can be a regular
See Man City With Haaland and Alavarez ( Immediate Starter and Qualified Understudy ) for how it is done in your own city! City til I die!
Harry Kane's goals will push Manchester United through those tight evenly matched games, and his playmaking will turn Rashford into a superstar
For me, with Kane you can very much challenge for the league right away
Kane aint gonna leave Spurs. He's Spurs through and through. Take Havertz, he's very good 9. Would be perfect for Ten Hag system😄.
@@edenhazard2751 You think you are smart. I am familiar with your game
I don't think kane makes United instant title challenges and with his age without immediate success he would be a wasteful purchase

I'm not a fan of him, but he's a top professional, can't remember him being injured at all in his career.
He is a elite striker, with a well rounded game and doesn't soley rely on his physicality/pace and he will be until 34/35 like Benzema, Shearer, Lewandowski, Suárez, Ibra, Agüero and so many others before him.
Narrator: "Wieghorst"
Me: "cries in Dutch"
Ironically our perfect no.9 is actually Martial because he suits what ETH so much with the way he plays following his improvements to be a CF, his link up play is fantastic, not stupidly fast but quick enough to beat players, eye for goal (which has improved a lot), make players around him play better, great with back to goal play, smart movements is well, young enough that is ETH can polish his talent to 100% which we only got a glimpse for that 1 covid season could move forward massively especially with a coach that actually knows how to coach it’s practically a no brainer 🤦🏾♂️😪 but it’s sad that he has injury problems because you can’t tell me he isn’t capable of getting 20gls a season under ETH but alas i dunno if we’ll ever see it
He has never scored 20 goals a season in his life
@@jeffery7558 i see 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 i wanna respond maybe correct you is well but I’ll let you do that yourself
Considering how Aboubakar is performing at Besiktas, back in last summer maybe he would be a better option than Weghorst

I can't work out how they weren't even looking at Alexander Isak.
Honestly, not much said in this 5 minute video to be honest! "The perfect number 9 for ETH's Man United is probably the player who fits the profile of number 9 that he likes...".
Ibrahim Sangaré sorry had too 😊
Video Title: Who is Man Utd's perfect Number 9?
Video: *shrugs* "I dunno. Somebody good?"
This video is a great example of saying something without actually saying anything
if they want an elite player they either take Osimhen, Kolo Muani or Goncalo Ramos...
This 3 are litrally the best young strikers on the Market
Who told you all that Osimhen is in any transfer moves?
I'd probably go with Osimhen and Kudus. Buy those 2. Kudus can probably play anywhere on the damn pitch for United from 8 to 10 to 7 or 11 or even false 9. Osimhen would be your main striker with martial as backup and you've got no shortage of wingers. Maybe loan out Sancho with option to buy. Rashford Garnacho Antony Pellistri Diallo. Pretty solid depth could compete on multiple fronts again and challenge city's depth up front
All problems are rooted from the current owners. If Glazers leave, everything can be solved easily.
The more he spoke the more I was like: "you're just describing Harry Kane dude!" 😅😑
Nah, Harry Kane has more to offer, mostly due to his playmaking skills and set-piece.
Mehdi Taremi would be a perfect fit
Romelu Lukaku could be a good option on the cheap right now, surprised United never considered him before...
Is this sarcasm, he’s played for United before.

@Josh Dunne Yeah and Inter bought him from Man Utd
Strong powerful like Lukaku and technical like Depay
Osimhen. Osimhen it is.

Fullkrug.
It’s obviously Ibrahim Sangare

Wheres the old voice over guy, this one doesnt do it for me
Randall kolo-muani 23 goals and 17 assist could become an all rounder and is just about to enter his prime years
Off topic but I’ve seen something that says Mbappe prefers to play on the left but Vini plays on the left so as Rashford but I’ve seen Ten Hag play Rashford down the middle and he’s been fine so Man U could probably be an option for Mbappe
Some reports said that Ancelotti planned to play Mbappe alongside Benzema up front, with Vini on the left wing in a 442/asymmetrical 433 (kinda like the 13/14 Madrid team with Ronaldo and Benzema up front, Bale on the right and Di Maria as the wide midfielder).
It would've made sense since Valverde is already familiar in that RM/RCM role.
At United I don't know if Rashford and Mbappe will be able to play together.
Ok, call me crazy, but I think a Harry Kane/Joel Piroe swoop would be class. It’s perfect in my mind.
Joel Piroe???
@@stijncdevos Yup. Doing incredibly well despite being in a shambolic Swansea City team - he’s fairly young, Dutch, was coached by Ruud Van Nistelrooy at PSV and with a better team around him, could be a great squad option at Utd.

Jonathan David is actually perfect for ETH and also Brobbery other than Kane and Osimhen.
Our targets are Jonathan David, kolo muani, M. Thuram
@Tifo Please make a Fix Tottenham Hotspurs video ❤️
Great job defining a very vague definition of a number 9 to just a vague definition
Vlahovic can be quite available because of Juve's fincancial situation. Other strikers I would suggest are Victor Boniface from Union Saint GIlliose, Cabral from Fiorentina or Schick from Leverkusen or like a false 9 as Olmo would be cool too.
Prime Cavani would fit in ETH system well.
The Greeks wouldn't be happy with the equivocating in this video.
Excuse me are you naming Goncalo Ramos and Brobbey in one breath 😂
They naming Brobbey also perplexed me quite a bit. What is United supposed to do with a forward who's seemingly so prone to homesickness that he can't even come off well in an all-attacking team like RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga?
Marcus Thuram is a free agent in the summer
Play McSauce upfront!
Great video man, as a Manchester United fan I genuinely feel we should buy 2 strikers. One as a starter other on rotation, the best options for that is Osimhen II Højlund. Both of them will cost around 150M but decent for the future
Yeah good luck with that $150. If you thi k there would be any sort of deal or discount dealing with ADL, you're sadly mistaken. Add about 25-30 to that price for Osimhen.
Firmino? He can drop deep has good finishing and is free. Would also most probably link well with antony and rashford bc of their similarities with salah and manè.
This is the channel that said Maguire is one of the best defenders using some stats.. never saw that so called expert again
Santiago gimenez from feyenoord trust me
We desperately need a dominant target man in the box (martial just isn't that) and then someone who can receive the ball with their back to the goal, would love to see Kane come to united, get the prem goalscoring record, and end his career finally getting some silverware
They should try Scott McTominay, put 2 against Spain for Scotland
Batistuta would be perfect but getting him out of Fiorentina won't be easy or cheap.
I must say, MU should definitely look out for Kane.
But out of this list, I would suggest Füllkrug from Werder Bremen.
I prefer the voice of the guy in the end.
When I hear Gonçalo Ramos's first name being pronounced as GON-KAH-LOW, you just know this cannot be a serious football channel! 😅
Bring Greenwood back as the the understudy to whoever we sign as the main striker?
I haven't actually watched much of Oshiman but from what I understand he isn't actually very good at link up play and tends to play as a last man and poacher. Kane seems to be a better fit given his ability to let players run past him to score.
osimhen does not satisfy the ‘flexibility’ characteristic that was mentioned in the video, however harry kane isnt the most flexible option either (acknowledging the fact that he still offers more than goal scoring). A young player bursting onto the scene would be the perfect player for ten haag to mould into his number 9 but until then we will have to focus on the short term w a proven striker side-by-side
Eh, Kane is the most or, I must say, too flexible as an option for MU.
is greenwood not an option?
Definitely not an overpriced 30yr old with 1 yr left on contract
So prime Suarez is what they want. Get on line lol.
One that scores goals?
Elite striker + development promising striker (hojlund or Ferguson)
Roberto Firmino would be a great fit who can play as a number 9 as well as a false nine as he has been doing so very well for Liverpool through the years

The perfect no.9 will not work as long as Rashford plays the way that he does.
What about Kolo Muani?
Harry Kane might be like Man Utd's Shearer..if he don't join next season don't think he ever will.
It' Martial but he is injured all the time and therefore is irrelevant

Ten Hag loves Martial but he's never fit. The ideal 9 would be someone similar in terms of decent pace, link up play and finishing ability. With that, you bring players like Rashford into the game.
Bring Greenwood back, he has all those attributes & buy Høejlund to compete with.
