The entire video I was saying to myself that his hat needs to be more level and lower in front. Not just for looks but so it doesn't blow off when he is riding his horse.
Excellent advice Dustin. Here's a perfect example: Stetson straw hat I get a 7 3/8 and MHT felt hat 7 1/4. So make sure you people go to an actual store and try on a cowboy hat. I've heard too many online purchasing nightmares. I tried on about 7 different stetson felt hats and couldn't get the right one to fit comfortable. I don't trust people in my area to custom fit a hat as I have seen places down here screw up people's hats.
I always try my hats on. I usually wear a 7 1/4 long oval but I can try on 3 or 4 and none will feel right. Only twice have I ever taken a hat of the rack and it was perfect. I actually have to squeeze down my hat now to make it stay yesterday and a strong wind on a horse or Rotting my full willer so so should I get a bigger one that will fly off when I'm riding ? Or should I stay with 7 and 8 so that I can Ride and just pull it down tight. It's a little uncomfortable but it works but 7 and a quarter would probably sit better on my head but I don't know You are the professional so I will take your advice
Great video, wish they sold hats my size in stores so I can try them on. My head is 52cm & The smallest size I see in the stores is 7 1/4 way too big. So I looked online and they only say Small, Medium, etc. no actual measurements 😑
Some hats use a different size scale (small, medium, large, etc.), while others are sized (7, 7 1/8, 7 1/4, etc.). 52cm converts to hat size 6 1/2, or about an X Small (depending on the brand). We invite you to contact us (by email or phone), as we would love to help you find a hat.

The answer is NO... once the straw hat is made, it then, “is what it is” as the saying goes. You can try a Stretcher, but straw doesn’t really stretch like a beaver/felt hat will.

Funny thing happened a while back though, when I ordered my last straw hat..they forgot to include eyelets/grommets! Can you believe that? haha It's good for the rain though, no rain is getting past that hat. Felt hat weather time now though!
sorry but if 2 fingers give me the look how you have your hat on your head I will pass on your advice, I have worn hats for over 30 years and have never seen anyone have there hats sit that far back. my suggestion go to a hat store try the hats on find the size and look you like and buy. then you will have that information. the rest of your hats you can buy from who you want. be that online or actual store. by telling people to use your way I would think your going to have many hats sent back. just my 2 cents.

I like to wear mine lower in the front. I’ve never heard the two finger thing. I loook goofy with my Brim kicked up like yours.

Yes, you can stretch both felt and straw hats or if you went with a larger size, you can use hat foam to make it snug to fit.
