GM issued a Technical Service Bulletin addressing this behavior on May 16, 2023. #PIT6018: IPC display and radio blank, no audio , OnStar will not set up or connect, typically found during PDI. Cause: Logic lock up usually due to low voltage. Correction: Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and reconnect. Recheck the functions. If function has returned check for software updates and attempt to complete the set up. If issue is not resolved or there are codes now stored perform published diagnostics.
i ordered a colorado LT trim and its target production week is this week so I hope theres an update or something they can pre-load on it so it doesn't happen to mine
That sucks man, you wouldn't think the electronics would be going out so fast on a brand new truck.
@@j.p.4541 It is a GM product. Did you watch the issues they had with the Hummer EV? 🤣 No shock to me. (too many lousy personal experiences with the products to list)I wish they were more dependable/reliable. I really do. GM needs to rival and or surpass the competition to set an example for good American craftsmanship.
IF it were me, I would be hauling it back into the service department and say here you go. I did not pay for this crap to be broken and have to fix it for you. IF you cannot fix it now, get me a FN loaner until you can. 🤬
Makes perfect sense the truck sees low voltage and keeps loads to a minimum to store memory and probably why he lost his trailering mpg. Thanks Banks
The best part is that in interviews when these trucks were being released, the chief engineer of the Colorado/Canyon program said he team had created a "bug free" infotainment and software system when asked about the massive lack of physical buttons in the trucks. If that center display dies, you lose access to most of the accessories and functions of the truck.
In software, there is no such thing as bug free.
Bring me all the physical buttons and knobs, this digital stuff is an accident waiting to happen, plus the glitches
Bug free didn’t account for a device being plugged in to the obd port
Wang
Yep, and the same guy wants to kill the Google/Apple integrated infotainment systems for a "much better" in-house build....We all know where that's gonna go.
Andre, disconnect the negative terminal, not the positive terminal, of a battery. It does the same thing, but your rachet is never at +12V while it is in contact with the battery.
Absolutely right, accidentally sparking is a risk of battery explosion.
This can damage the electronics in these new vehicles. I actually killed my dad's PCM by trying to reset a CEL with a battery disconnect
Great catch! I noticed that as well, the metal of the ratchet will create an electrical arc if contacted to ground.
@@Prestiged_peck false, the chasis ground still exists
@Smarter Than You yes there is a chassis ground but you always disconnect the ground first. With it removed, even if the rachet touches metal while removing the possitve cable it won't arc because the ground is removed. Of course if you dropped the rachet and it touched both terminals that would arc
Andre, I cannot believe you disconnected the positive first instead of the negative.
ALWAYS disconnect the negative cable first. Safety first!
What difference does it make? Is there a big capacitor somewhere always charged?
You should always disconnect the negative side first. Because if the handle of your ratchet hits the metal panel while connected to the positive, the battery will try to weld it to the frame and damage anything metal it touches. Remember the negative is grounded throughout the body. This is a mechanic thing.
I was scared just watching him do it, it’s like playing the game operation
Thanks for the info.
I can't believe he didn't know that basic safety procedure!
Wouldn't it also zap him if he accidentally touched the negative terminal or something on the body? I couldn't wait for him to be done so I could relax! 😬
I was waiting for the sparks when I saw the ratchet slip out of his hand
You just confirmed my biggest concern with a full digital dash.
The Tacoma still runs analog controls with nothing routed through the radio. A far better solution if you ask me
after working as an aviation electronics technician and an electrician and working on tech on my own time you have nothing to worry about these things break less then Mechanical gauges you're just seeing either human error or software glitches which can be fixed for free and most the times a hard reboot works like you saw here
I had this happen ages ago when they offered a full digital dash for a Chevy S10 Blazer in 1991. Had to drive from Georgia to Maryland with no dashboard.
@@jeffrogers2797well that just because it's a Chevy, I owned an 84 300zx with 200k miles and it's digital cluster never skipped a beat and was super responsive.
This is just an American quality control issue. In this case it’s GM.
Just imagine owning this vehicle 10 years from now. What a nightmare
Or any vehicle they're all going full digital
They don't want you to own for 10 years. They want you to buy a new one every few like a damn iphone
That's any new car (including Toyota)
ya it seems that digital everything is a really bad idea.
@@User-q6x3bWhile I agree the newer Toyotas are not as reliable and robust as the old ones. Having worked in the automotive industry, the new Toyotas are a lot more reliable then any GM/Ford made junk. It’s not even comparable.
The more fancy the vehicles get the more that can go wrong. Ive seen more and more electrical issues in new trucks as we progress into "fancier" technology.
And the thing is so much tied together, hell if one things stops working… no telling what it may mess with. I know these new trucks when the battery starts to die nothing inside works.
Might just be GM
My 2006 Silverado has never had any sort of electrical malfunctions where things just stop working. In the 130k miles that I've put on it, very little have gone wrong with it. People I know with newer vehicles have had more problems than my old truck.
Agree w/Justin. For me, less is more …in the tech department. Then again I’m old and misunderstood.
Fancy has nothing to do with it. You don’t see this stuff with lexus or Toyota. It’s low quality standards.
That's the biggest things I worry about with digital clusters.

Knock on wood, but I've had my '19 Bullitt with digital cluster for over 3 years (since Feb 2020) and so far so good. KNOCK ON WOOD! :D
That seems like a rather major safety issue... Hopefully a recall and software update goes out soon to fix this.
100%, agreed, sounds like this is not an isolated incident. This is a major liability for GM
Most likely it's cable and connection issue. Not a software issue.
This is why I prefer analog gauges and minimal amounts of unnecessary electronics. I tend to keep trucks a long time, and this is the kind of thing that would be a concern for the long run.
Toyoda wins
@@TheBikemaster94 Even they are starting to trend in the wrong direction bud
How does a 2001 Chevy Silverado with 315K sound?
@@richardnottelmann58 i love my 03 silverado 250,000 and I luv it more as time goes. Truck will little by little wear out around my bulletproof vortec 4.8 that has performed flawlessly since i picked it from a lot of over 200 models to choose from. Now im just really preferring mechanical design over electrical.
I think the best design is a reasonably sized screen between 2 analog gauges, u get the best of both
I like this truck but I prefer analog gage and physical button for lights
Unfortunately, these days even the "analog" gauges are electronically controlled. They can go just as dead as a digital screen.
Its such a great looking truck! I hope GM works out the issues.
Never understood why physical guage clusters were being ditched. Most are laggy and I like the analog feel of the real thing. Bummer to see, I really like the new Colorado a lot.
Agreed. My 2002 Silverado instrument panel is always ready to go.
No lag on the Android Automotive hardware in then newest GM stuff, reason being a software company made it, not GM.
For a very long time the analog looking gauges that you like so much have been digital as well, pure analog gauges have been gone for a while now, they are all digital just a matter of which style presentation you prefer.
The same reason as everything else, unfortunately, it's cheaper.
@1k1 Nights how is a digital screen cheaper than a plastic needle and tiny metal gear? Even the ones wired into a simple PCB?
I'd almost prefer it to be a hardware issue because the defective item can just get replaced. If it's software you have to deal with whatever gremlins there are until someone gets around to releasing an update to fix whatever's glitching out. Might be a while, unfortunately.
Software issues also means that it will affect all vehicles at some point.
Outside warranty I’m sure you would change your mind…
thats our tesla right now. they are def not a software company yet...
I like the movie gremlins! 😁
Knowing my luck they will have to rip half the dash out to get to the hardware then it would rattle for the rest of its ownership.
This is why I bought the last of the proven Tacomas. Although I'm pretty sure that the new Tacomas will still be better than this thing.
Reliability and longevity are the most important factors to me in general without factoring today's crazy prices. Reliability first, it's a truck.
How does André keep calm, I would be so pissed with such a recent and expensive purchase
Imo, creators & manufacturers have a symbiotic relationship...
Same early issues he had with his Ford
NASA, spaceX, and some of the other companies with the brightests minds and strict tolerances still have failures. If its man made it can fail regardless of the price you paid. Better to spend time understanding and finding a solution than to spend it in anger. Life is too short for that.
Because he can monetize his issues on RUclips and GM will fix it fast knowing the video will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people.

That's a great example of what happens when things go 100% digital. I've worked for over 7 years in digital product development, and you will ALWAYS have bugs. And since this is probably the first gen of the system, they are more likely to happen.
Excellent job TFL, once again!! Love the content
On the plus side, digital components like this can usually be fixed with a quick software update and they can continue to improve it over the life of the truck without it being costly.
This is just an example of absolute total lack of engineering.... GM Engineering at it's finest
@@SantanKGhey1234 it’s probably new tech. It’s gonna happen, I’ve seen it happen on newer ford and dodge

That’s why I’ll die saying that I’d rather have an analog speedometer with a small screen. It’s all you need.
GM has a history of failing gagues, even when they were analog. Even if you want analog gagues, you're better off with a different brand.
@Damilola Akanni my father chevy blazer Guage went out as well
Even “analog” speedos have been driven by digital signals for decades.
I don't think I've ever had a vehicle that had an "analog" gauge cluster actually work all the time.

That’s crazy, you’re new truck shouldn’t be doing this to you for all the money they ask for these trucks!!! I am sorry this happened to you.
Agree 100%
I went through something similar to this with my Tacoma a few years ago. Hopefully Chevy steps up... unlike Toyota did for me. Getting them to stand behind their warranty was an uphill battle all the way.
All new vehicles are shit.
It doesn't matter how much it cost. Stuff fails. A part can fail on a Lamborghini at the same failure rate as a work truck colorado
Every single new generation of vehicles have issues that’s why you wait a year or 2 to get it so the bugs are known and fixes have been found
It's a new Chevy. Of course it should do this 😂
You should always disconnect the negative terminal first and then the positive terminal, safety first.
What???? That's ass-backwards. Are you joking? In case you don't know, cars are NEGATIVE ground, not POSITIVE ground, a few British cars I've heard of notwithstanding.
@mrfunucan is correct. Andre should have disconnected the negative cable; not the positive. You always disconnect the negative terminal first when unhooking a battery. And, connect the negative cable last when hooking up a battery.
@@MrChadx1 Not buying that at all. As I said, various vehicle manuals I have tell me different. But hey, you're smarted than the Electrical Engineers at BMW, Riiiight?🤣
Always negative first. The automaker has nothing to do with how dc electricity flows. In dc the current flows because of the ground, to remove the current flow safely always pull the negative first.
@@kx8960 If the BMW manual actually says to DISCONNECT the positive battery cable first, then apparently yes, I am smarter than the BMW Engineers. Ha. My guess is you are misreading/misinterpreting the manual or are talking about the directions for CONNECTING a battery. For CONNECTING a battery, you first put on the positive cable and then negative. For DISCONNECTING a battery, you first remove the negative cable and then the positive. That, or there is a typo in your manual. There is no logical explanation to break a circuit by disconnecting the positive first since one could more easily cause a spark, damage electronics, etc. When disconnecting a battery, removing the negative cable first avoids all that.
Great content, thanks for sharing. That same thing happened to my friend's Tahoe. The issue was that an update came through and it installed incorrectly or didn't fully load and it created a large amount of error codes which made his vehicle useless. I am not sure if the battery disconnect solves it longterm but his dealership reinstalled the updates and cleared the codes. No more problems. You should still run the codes and see if you have a similar issue.
There's a reason why you don't buy the brand new model on it's first year.
You mean like the Ford Hybrid he bought and that turned out to have all kinds of problems for Ford.... I'd never buy a new model in it's first year.... and maybe it's second.
You guys need to remember that he makes these purchases for the views.
Ordinarily, 100%. But these guys also use this as a living. It's also great for consumers because negative press like this can help make sure it's prevented in the future.
First-gen products do have their Gremlins as some are worse than others. I remember when I bought my first second gen Colorado and within six months GM had to buy it back.
@@stephenjn59 Even Toyota has terrible issues when they redesign vehicles, engines, transmissions, etc. The 3rd gen Tacoma was rated least reliable midsize truck for like 3 or 4 years because of transmission issues, leaking rear diffs, engine stalling, software glitches, etc.
I 100% thought he was going to say, “The cruise control wasn’t working.” 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Well, if it didn't work before, it certainly isn't gonna now!🤣
😮 I am shocked. SHOCKED. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a quality issue with GM.
I would drive for a while without the OBD2 monitor plugged in. See if the problem re-occurs. Some vehicles aren’t happy with monitors in the port constantly. The dealer will probably tell you that. But if it happens without it in then obvi it’s a glitch that needs to be addressed by GM. For now I’ll keep my 2017 Colorado, wonky tranny and all. Thank you
GM just said the same about Rob's Z06 transmission failure; oh it's your GPS, not our car
I argue with people that have the progressive dongle in their port all the time, they just don't understand
Also that monitor usage could potentially void the warranty,
I'd almost bet you're right Wingman. It happened in my c7 & when I quit it, the problem stopped & it's been years now, no problem.
Thats what I would do. Then trade it for a tacoma!
06:09 You always want to disconnect the negative (ground) cable first, if you start with the positive cable and accidentally touch your tools to anything metal that's also grounded through the body you can short out electronics or/blow fuses.

Absolutely and always.😢

@Matt Thadd I actually work in the Automotive industry and I've seen it happen a handful of times, so it's better to just err on the side of caution.

Let me tell you i have had issues with it since i clocked 2,000 miles on it to this day stuff that you would never expect to fail or have to replace i am replacing. Like some other's have commented; I was disappointed when you removed the + battery terminal. ALWAYS NEGATIVE FIRST in a negative grounded system. You knew that.
I miss the days when vehicles were simple and uncomplicated with minimal electronics!
Exactly, and very soon the things will be more complicated than now.
Software bug most likely
Like everything, they were cool at first. Now it’s just 1001 problems waiting to happen and technology old by next year. Imagine driving your 1980s ford with a wood grained boxed tube television with an actual hand dial. It would seem absurd. I can’t see any of these modern cars lasting longer than 10 years, I’m going to assume at some point manufacturers are gonna do the Apple/Verizon thing where they ask to buy back your old equipment so they can resell it in 3rd world Southeast Asia for the same money it originally cost, or simply to part it out
It's why I love my 4runner.
and didn't cost a small fortune for a small truck
A few months ago my grandson got a job at a local Chevrolet dealership. He did not have a car, so for three months I rode him to work, and picked him up at the end of the day. I usually got there early, so I would sit in the parking lot and wait for him. In those three months, I saw many Silverado trucks come in on a rollback. And these were very new trucks.
The company I work for bought 5 1500 Silverado Customs at the end of last year and we’ve had a ton of electrical issues with all of them. It’s been things like the push button start not working, screens not working, random CEL’s, and even a brake failure on one multiple times. We have one that’s on its 3rd battery since December.
I knew this was going to be an issue as soon as screen dashes started. Imagine, this will be a $2500 repair as soon as the warranty is done.
Funny, it sure didn’t costs Andre $2,500 to fix the issue all on his own in a matter of mins. 🙄

Did you try smacking the dashboard? 😂 That sucks though, sorry to hear.
I have seen it done...it's magical 😂
Both the dash screen and intermittent backup cam failure seem like pretty big safety problems, especially since it's a primary, legally required feature and not just some ancillary "luxury" option. It's insane to me that in 2023, something like a display screen can fail that quickly. It's a huge problem that vehicles are being made so complex, but they're also cutting corners and cutting cost in every possible place, all at the same time. What's left is a flimsy, delicate, over-complicated machine prone to fail from the slightest stress.
I love all of the new vehicles, but after owning a Prius and also dealing with no dash like this. I've made it my goal to only never buy fully digital dashes. I love tech, but the amount of tech in vehicles now is making everything less consumer/repair friendly. I whish that this would get brought up more by vehicle news and reviews channels.
The first problem I imagined these trucks having is a blank instrument cluster, and here it is.
Anything that's fully digital can "crash" and stop working.
I bet if he unhooked the battery it would recover.
(Oh and it did)
I don’t know about you but I shouldn’t be needing to touch the battery on a 6 week old truck. GM QC issues continue.
Yep and even the new trx has a completely digital cluster too now.
@volvo09 Definitely something owners of a brand new truck want to do. With every fill-up you can unhook the battery to reset the instrument cluster. Sounds fun. Just wait until this truck is a couple of years old.
@@volvo09 I thought he might have hit the dimmer switch without realizing it.
Andre, hold the end call button the steering wheel down for 15 seconds. It should reset cluster and infotainment.
If that really works, that should be printed somewhere like the back of the visor where there's a lot of safety info on every car. We can now consider "hold end-call for 15 seconds" as the auto equivalent of CTRL-ALT-DEL 😁

Should have paid the extra coin for analog gauges. They're awesome! You can even see them when the vehicle is off!
This is exactly why I still like working on the 2010+ vehicles. If you have a good scanner it’s super easy. Parts are cheaper than labor unless you make more than $120+ an hour so it’s good to have the skills. But these new vehicles 2017+ can be really challenging to deal with at home.
As a retired network systems engineer/administrator I have found this is typical of the move from discreet electrical and mechanical systems to central sytem control. The organization I was chief IT officer installed a central server controlled system for HVAC, lighting, PC uptime, WiFi access, security, etc. What we found was that it was no longer a failed thermostat or worn-out light switch that was an occasional problem; but a failure in one subsystem could cause an issue in another subsystem or initiate a domino effect that would cause failures in the monitoring system itself.
The end result was an overall increase in downtime and an increase in specialized employees. So much for saving money.
The simpler the design of the system, typically the more reliable it is. Vehicle design is definitely headed in the opposite direction.

My Chevy app will not let me sign in. Buttons on steering wheel not working all the time. Sensors go off for no reason. Back up sensors alert but don’t stop the truck. More and more issues are popping up. This is not trustworthy. Mine is for sale when I get my title in the mail. Going to Toyota.
Thats sad but that's what we now have to deal with with today's modern vehicles because so many people want all that fancy tech with big screens and displays, I have a 2022 Ford Bronco base model and the screens drive me crazy with how slow and complicated they can be, in my opinion I think with all the new technology with displays and infotainment systems it's more distracted than texting while driving!
It’s just a small electric hiccup on a early build. He also plugs things into this truck which may be affecting the electronics. Y’all are so damn dramatic.
@@G-Rated not being dramatic just like things simple and manufacturers aren't doing that anymore, I currently have eight vehicles from 1967 to 2022 all ford's and never had a issue until my 2022 Bronco with the stupid technology that's more of an inconvenience than a luxury, like the stupid electronic parking brake and before you say it I off road my Bronco and it's a manual so I use the park brake, it was so much simpler left foot to push a pedal to set the brake, now I have to reach for a small switch that is in a really inconvenient spot it's backwards, it should be pushed the set, pull to release but it's not.
@@gregc9220 What’s the issue with big screens? You rather a small touchscreen you can barely see anything on or a larger one to see clearer and operate easier while driving? The complaints just aren’t adding up.
@@G-Rated my biggest complaint is how bright it is even on the lowest light level at nighttime it reflects off the windows, backing a trailer up at night I throw a shirt or a towel over it to block out the reverse camera and use my mirrors, again it's more of an inconvenience to me than it is a luxury
@@gregc9220 You sound like you just need a old work truck that does nothing for you. Not sure why people like you believe brand new vehicles should be bare bones like they were 30 years ago just so that outdated individuals who absolutely refused to adapt to new technologies would feel at home. Now sure why you even purchased a brand new *anything.* You’re literally showing your age just from basic conversation. You don’t like tech, which is fine…but you want to make this the manufacturer’s issue? 🧐
This company can't build a good car infotainment system. And people would trust them to build them an ELECTRIC VEHICLE? Come'on man!
I bought a 2023 Equinox a few weeks ago, due to a recall I could not leave with the equinox the same day so the dealership gave me a 2023 silverado to drive around until the recall was fixed. I ended up having the silverado for about 2 weeks and I had constant audio issues. The silverado shares the same infotainment as the Colorado shown in the video. The only fix I found for the audio cutting out was restarting in safe mode. A $50,000 truck should not have issues like this.
I'm having similar issues with my 2023 Canyon Denali, although not as bad. Cameras just stop working occasionally. It's not the cameras, because they all stop at the same time. The maps worked fine for a week, now they're blank. I was at the dealership yesterday and chatted with them about it and they said it's new software and they're hearing about a lot of these software issues. My issues are minor ones, but as others have stated unacceptable on a truck this expensive.
Otherwise, the truck is awesome.
Truck probably needs a software update that GM never says a word about until people complain
Yup, happened to my 2021 gmc acadia, now 3 times it has happened. Every time it needs a yearly update from the dealer. Super annoying
Yep, and when it gets a million views online they will claim they "were already working on it" just like with the dead EV Hummer. Yea, sure you were GM ...
They couldn't do digital gauges 35 years ago. Don't see how they've gotten better lol. When I was 18 I bought a Cavalier Z24. The cluster was supposed to dim slightly when I turned the lights on. It went out completely. The night I picked it up. They sent the cluster out for repair. 6 months later, the backlighting for the tach went out.
Screens Screens and more Screens! What a dumb idea for something so important. Let's go back to real gauges and switches, PLEASE.
When your dash came back on, it was telling you to go get a 24 toyota tacoma!
Similar thing happened with my '23 Durango only that it was the UConnect infotainment system. Brought it to the dealer for a hard reset and now functions fine. Never had this issue when I had my '19 X5 lol.
They have pretty good coffee at the Chevy dealership. I’ve had many in my day waiting for warranty work 😂
Never disconnect positive battery cable first, If that arcs you might toast a lot electronics.
Something tells me there will be a service bulletin issued by GM, disconnect battery if problem occurs. Maybe they can offer a quick disconnect for battery for the problem they created for a reasonable fee of course. Check your oil, washer fluid, belts, and disconnect and reconnect the power before starting your vehicle please. I know this is the direction the industry is going and no amount of complaining on a you tube channel will fix it. But this does not bode well for the future of vehicles. Happy to hear that it fixed the problem, for now.
Sorry this is happening to you Andre. It sucks to spend tens of thousands of dollars and then have problems
It’s a GM , weird problems come standard
I really liked the new canyon AT4. And shopped around for a Colorado, it drove well. But ended up getting a frontier pro4x, partly due to price(got a good deal on the truck) and liked the sort of old school tech, at least compared to many other manufactures. NA V6 has really been around 20+ years, added DI a few years ago. I was afraid of the 2.7 turbo reliability in 5-10 years, I think the high output version of the 2.7 has max boost of 25lbs... Seems like a lot for a factory Chevy.
The 2.7 has been out since 2019 in silverados and there hasn't been much complaints because we all know internet was built for complaining more than anything
I also chose the 2023 Frontier over the Colorado and I’m super happy with it. Actually love it. Perfect mix of tech and utility. Love that it has digital screens but still has a standard analog gage cluster. I have a soft spot for Chevy always so I hope the new Colorados turn out okay after 5-10 years.
@@davefornit6235 I hear ya, but 4-5 years ain't that long really. I love the torque numbers, 150 more than my frontier in the high output version, and prob at lower rpm. But still, lots going on in that engine.
Disconnect the battery then reconnect it after 30 seconds it'll come back up trust me.
I just watched it all the way to the end and saw that it worked for you.
The issue is there is a miscommunication between control modules on the pipeline cache. That miscommunication causes the module to not want to acknowledge your request and will malfunction. Disconnecting the battery mimics what you would do if your phone started tripping out and not working correctly, you would just power down and power your phone back up and everything will come back to working properly. If you think of it and that term this is possibly the fix around for most electronic issues on vehicles today.
At least it has enough blinker fluid 🙃
Andre, that is one beautiful truck. I think electronics in trucks are closer to smartphones than they are to vehicles at this point. Many fixes often require a hard reset.
But my iPhone never needs resetting unless a new version of the OS is being installed. GM (and others) should outsource the software development to Apple. Would be nice too if there was a standard interface so when you go from one car to another, you know your way around.
Thanks dude!
Black boots first, red socks second when disconnecting a battery (black boots=negative, red socks= positive) and likewise the reverse when reconnecting the battery. Red socks, then black boots. That’s how I learned when I first started.
Reminds me of my bolt! Loved that car, but dang there are so many wierd little things that go wrong with how much technology is packed into these things. I was disconnecting the battery pretty frequently.
Good to know the light switch is on one of those screens so you won't have to worry about losing that
Yeah, the screen that never stopped working. What’s even your point?
My wife has a 2022 Chevy traverse high country. The gauge cluster did the exact same thing. It has two analog gauges with the center being all digital. The both analog gauges and digital display did not work. Did the exact same thing you did with the battery. Ended up driving it to the GM dealer and as I was driving it, the dash came back. still continued on to the GM dealer and I was told it was in the middle of an update when I interrupted it by shutting off the car. It hasn’t glitched yet. Whether that’s true or not I don’t know but it’s been about six months and it’s still working.
For the record, I'm going to keep my 2015 Chevy Colorado Z-71 w/3.6L V6. It has 105k miles and runs great!
Its been a couple months, is it still running?
This is exactly why I didn’t wait for the 2022 refresh on the Sierra/silverado models. Love ‘21 Sierra with my analog gauges and my little 8” screen. A lot less to go wrong.
The needles are controlled by a computer and fetch data off the network on your 21 just like this 22. In fact your truck has more parts to break. No one remembers it seems, but when I started as a tech fresh out of high school I replaced clusters, lights, headlight switches, speedo cables, and cable drives nearly every day. That stuff broke constantly. It also sure as sunshine didn't get fixed with a battery reset.
@@adaycj So there’s not a little hamster wheel behind the dash spinning the speed of the truck and geared down to translate to the dial?!? I don’t think anyone is arguing that there isn’t a digital aspect to anything nowadays on a car but the tech has been around for quite some time and is fairly well tested. And unlike Andres screen that has completely crashed. There’s less likelihood the entire dash on my truck will just die and not display any information. It’s also not a one off screen setup for just the sierras/silverados and canyon/colorados. The 8in TFT has been put in everything GM had offered for the last 10 years now. The amount of things that are interconnected through that screen is crazy.
The main issue there is with this particular model is a weak spot on the rear tail part of the frame, if you look through the wheel well you can spot a huge circle hole on the frame, that frame will bend at that point if you haul something too heavy, which in fairness if you have a big heavy camper or boat you should get a 1500 instead, but if you try it with this new Colorado, the tail end will bend, be warned. The frame metal is not that strong and they putting too many holes in it.
I get that you guys are a car review channel, and need to check out the latest and greatest. But things like this are why I never buy a first year model of anything. Thank you for being a beta tester for the rest of us Andre.
Andre, for your safety and the safety of the truck, disconnect the negative terminal. If your wrench would have touched the truck body while disconnecting the positive terminal there could have been a fireworks show.
lol. 12v doesn't make that much power.
@@HAHA.GoodMeme it's not about getting shocked. Lol
To be even safer, don't buy another GM product. Plaqued with electrical issues. Look good, just like Dodge, but are big expensive piles of shit.
@@HAHA.GoodMemeThat’s not the point. Anyone who knows anything about mechanical issues will do it the way he described. It’s obvious you are not one of those people. Or you’re just a dick. Probably both from the sounds of it.
I only had my 2023 Colorado TrailBoss for a couple of days, not even a week before my Colorado went limp.
Vehicle doesn't want to start or anything, something computer related. Dealership have no idea what's causing it. They already replaced the PCM.
Will be calling lawyers beginning of next week to start the process of lemon law.
1:04 which is why one should NEVER buy a vehicle with a fully digital, gauge-cluster display…
People never had issues with their gauge cluster not working with older vehicles. Too much technology leads to more issues not matter what brand.
YOU TOWED THE BOAT AND THE CAMPER TRAILER AT THE SAME TIME????? YOU THE MAN!!!!!!!!
Ive seen similiar issue on Ford F150s. The battery really needs to be 100% and also AGM. With electric powersteering, auto start/stop, multiple modules, etc. The Battery has a big job to do. Next time disconnect the negative terminal first. Nice truck
