  • Pastel Portrait Technique, by Graciela Bombalova
    Most of all the expression of this little girl was so shining and pure..I've tried to keep the portrait as light as possible... The skin tones where also extremely interesting for pastel...When I met this young lady I saw her as a very intelligent little person... Vivid and active 100%. I just wanted to reflect this aptitude in the portrait.

    Dearest Borga.
    The most profound thing to me about you is your ability to immediately render and capture a perfect likeness right from the start!
    I find this ability to be extra terrestrial in nature! Especially when I have struggled with it for years. That said, where can I finally best achieve this ability? Can I find it here on earth, or do I have to travel to your planet?

    • @bograart
      @bograart  7 лет назад +4

      Dear Kevin,
      Thank you for your nice words...
      This ability can be developed here, in our world. It is called practice and time...A lot of practice and a lot of time spent on drawing which is the base for any one who wants to paint human figure. Or anything else...So don´t stop drawing!! Thank you again for following and your interest.

    I observe that you can draw in the negative, immediately able to see facial features, the golden ratio, then creating warm complementary colors around ur portrait. This is an incredible ability & skill. You can (pardon my expression) cut to the chase instantaneously. I could train myself 4 years 2do drawings on black paper /w white pencil, but only scratch the surface of your mastery here. I'll try!

    It's funny . Every time I see your video, I pick up my pastels and get to work. Sometimes I do charcoal drawings and sometimes oil paint. Pastels has been my biggest challenge. I like the different tone you used on the girl. That shows confidence and comfortable with your work. I typically try to match it exactly because I think I would mess it up. Good for you. Just one question. Is that dry pastel n charcoal that you used? I think the under drawing was just pastel. Thank you.

    I don't understand how you know what colors to use. When you fill in the colors with the oil pastel, I can see those colors in the photograph, but I would have never thought to come up with those colors on my own. How can I start using colors to bring out more dimension?
