I can't think of a more pleasant way to start my day. 'Love to watch you work so intelligently. I see your jaw moving ; I imagine you're talking your way through the decisions of which marks/colors to put down. Thanks for this video.
So much fun to see the topography of the human face rise up from the paper, however her lower lids are much fuller--making her eyes smaller than you depicted.
Hi Rob! I am big fan of your talent.Your portraits full of life, amazing! I also portrait artist only I paint in oil. Thank you for sharing ,Tamara Geddes
Great. I haven't worked on a pastel in years and only then they were still life ones, but just tonight I tried a couple of portraits. Drawing was good but pastel infill was rubbish. Then I found your vid. and I can see how I went wrong. I got bogged down in complications instead of keeping it simple like you, adding nice touches here and there. Thanks for the demo. I am looking forward to my next improved effort. (BTW I CAN do portraits, having done them in pencil and oils.)
Thankyou for your comments I use fabercastell pastel pencils for the drawing the snguine and the darker one is sepia dark I favour nupastels to begin and finish with rembrandt rowney and unison pastels
Very nice work! I like your process! I see that you use pastel sticks but can you recommend any brand of pastel pencils? I use mainly charcoal and do some oil painting but I've only recently started pastels. I've tried derwent pastel pencils but find them too hard/rough.
bravo l'artiste très beau portrait , je salue également cette jeune fille qui a eu le courage de poser sans bouger ça a du être long pour elle félicitation a vous deux
Wow, that's an amaizing piece of work Mr. Wareing. Really like how you build the colors. Wonderful skills. Here's a simple question. Do you work with a specific brand of pastels, or just pick the colors you need from any one? Greetings from Colombia.
