- The incomparable Teng draws J.Johnson during the 2011 Paris "fete de la musique".superb colour pastel painting by the little master of the place du tertre,Montmartre.Part 1 of 2 videos.
The music is from the annual Paris street music festival (21st June)Musicians of all ages,amateur and pro take to the streets and perform for free.It takes guts to perform in public,whether you are a portraitist or musicans,and the only way to learn is to just do it.
I painted quite a few bad reproductions of classic paintings as a kid,but I learnt a lot.
It really is sad when people have a go at kids who are taking their first steps artistically.

Very nice, thorough and clear demonstration! And the use of original music performances is smart and very enjoyable.

Another awesome by YVADMIL VIDEOS. Clearly Tengs work stands alone. It is so helpful for us artists being able to watch successful artists like tihs perform with such acurate speed. What an asset this is for youtube viewers lucky enough to find this channel.

I love the music "Hotel California" played by the two girls at the beginning. It's a very difficult song and music to play. You done well girls, congratulations.

Thank you for video. Why did you used green under painting?
I am not the artist here but I filmed and edited the video.Yes Svay Teng Denis (the arist) does use a light green undercoat.Green is the complementary of red so a green base will help to reduce the saturation of warm reddish flesh colours laid on top.
Master Teng has different style!!
I think all good artists have found their own personal style. Teng style is unique..great portraitist!

hey davy, i think its teng's technique of using the flat edge of his pastel so well which helps him to start his portrait, without even creating outlines. can u reply if i am right? :)

Just r membered when pastels were invented during the renaissanceor something? That pastel paintings werent considered art because it was allegedly easy and is considered cheating because all painters used the well known oil paints and etc xD i still think pastels are equally as hard as painting with oil in some way xD

You need a very soft opaque white.

I think hes fiine xD hahaha like most artists hes just drawing imaginary lines before actually drawing lines to make sure its perfectly presented on the paper :D it helps alot!!!! :33

The Music is mostly amateur from the annual music festival.It seems many viewers share your opinion about the music.When I have time I will try to re-edit this video without the music.In retrospect maybe I should have made a separate videos.
