Before you start work with the Fae, I would recommend watching my Faery Misconceptions video to make you aware of the hazards of this kind of spirit work.
One of the most requested topics, is that of Faery (Fairy) offerings, what to give and what to not do when working with them. The fae vary so greatly, but hopefully this video goes some of the way to help those wanting to leave out offerings for the fae, regardless of your financial or personal situations.

yess i see glitter used often for offerings but its so bad for the eviornment, which is what the fae love (as i understand) if you MUST use glitter you can even buy bio-degradable glitter so it isnt harmful but still leaves the shine 💖

Thank you is not just disliked by the fae, it's also recommended for your safety. Thank you and sorry both imply that you now owe a debt to the fae, and they will try to collect. Don't take without giving, but when you are giving, do not say thank you, because it implies you still haven't made up for what they gave you.

I haven't worked with the fae, though I've considered starting when I get my own place. I've read some interesting things which are so oddly consistent with others' tales; I've seen a lot of cases of personal experiences being contrary to others', but with fae I've seen a few consistencies.
Iron/steel things are abhorred because it's our main metal for weapons, but also because they see it as our attempt to create in stead of accepting from nature.
The reason one shiny thing may go missing, I've read from some, is because some fae think if you've still got one then you're not actually losing something. You still have another just like the one they wanted, so it's not that big of a deal to them.
The reason not to thank them is because they don't like feeling like you've got the upper hand, or that they're doing a favor. I forget the wording some people have suggested using, but it's treated more like a bargaining process where both parties come to an agreement of exchange: I'll offer this if you provide that.
Finally, one point comes from a very long personal experience someone posted about but I have long lost: Many fae will be insulted if you take a package of something, and only leave part as the offering. They feel shorted. In this case, a woman took a package of wafer cookies into the woods, and offered the end stack of four, in exchange for an encounter. A fairy arrived, and demanded the entire pack, and nothing short. When their meeting was finished, the spirit told her to bring another pack when next she came.

He looks after the animals. all farms have a barn/cowshed nisse and on christmas eve we leave out riceporidge with cinnamon, sugar and a dollup of butter on top. some also leave out a cup of beer. Many cute paintings of nisser can be found on for exampel pintrest of the artist Kjell Midtun, and others.

I usually leave offerings in the woods but recently I've gotten fairy rings of mushrooms in my own front yard!! I'm excited because I feel as though they've fallowed me home to dance outside my house, I've heard many things about fairy rings being bad luck but personally I beleive the opposite, at night I go out and I meditate in them and hum/sing for the fae (I always ask for permission to enter the circle as not to be rude of course) and I leave them small offerings and trinkets in the center before I leave, i even invite them into my home if they are in need of shelter from the cold but ask that they pay no harm or trickery to me or my family in return. I hope this comment finds u well and I'd even love some feedback, do you think that I'm doing alright? Do you have any pointers as to what I'm doing so far? Much love and blessings to come 🙏🏼💖💖💖

My family owns a woods that has an old garbage dump that was used by the people who lived there before us and I've been cleaning it out incrementally for the past year or so, as well as any other garbage I find. I think the faeries are grateful. When I was a child my mother would buy this brand of tea and each box came with a little figurine of an animal from Noah's ark, a little while ago I was going for a walk to the woods near a hedge row and found an elephant figurine laying on the surface of the ground, it was completely clean. More recently I was cleaning the garbage pile and found a little porcelain horse with a broken leg.

Well, the fae that I know are pretty usual. They like sweets like home made muffins and wine, usually white. I have a chair that is just for the fae and some like it, while other laugh at it and lounge on my couch, table, or end table. I say, if you want to bring the fae into your space, have a great sense of humor, plenty of snacks, and be prepared to stay up late chatting with them. I think they think it rude if they come by and you go to bed early.

I'd say try leaving different things. I seem to live at a faerie crossroads so they like traveling goodies, things that will keep while on the road. In my experience, leaving human coins is a waste of time. They either barter in goods or just deal in gold, silver, or gems. And a good joke is worth a lot, so have a few funny stories on hand if you find they've stopped by for the night.

I will never forget this.......... EVERY Night I dreamed of Fairies .... it was in my backyard and I sang and danced with them and there was glitter and mushrooms and vines etc and I felt SOOOO SAFE! It WAS SO VIVID I think it was REAL....... I remember when dark would come I'd look for them in my backyard and nothing and I'd cry....... as soon as I went to bed I was dancing with them and singing the whole time.... I feel they were protecting me and there for me because I was alone!!! I am VERY drawn to Fairies ... Folklore etc! I am a Psychic Medium Empath and I see them in my minds eye.... but not as if they are here with me just quick visions of them as I do with my mediumship ......... Example: thy can be found in mountains deserts, near the sea e.g
So basically they are everywhere in different environments ???

I'm doing my research before doing anything. I've been compelled to leave offerings for the fae since I learned about them, but I know I would have screwed up hardcore had I not looked into the proper etiquette. It would honestly be easier to list the things I didn't learn from this video than those I did. (This may be human of me, but) Thank you so much.

I've seen many things about a Faery asking "...and your name" while putting their hand out.
And that's a way of them asking to take your name.
Would it be acceptable to say "you shall not take my name but you may call me(nickname)
is that a good way to tell them your name?
If not how would I say it?

I'm a bit ignorant of what to do with an offering (especially something along the lines of food, honey, etc.) afterwards. I mean, how to dispose of it and how long to leave it out.
Unless I'm taking this offering DEEP into the woods and just leaving it there permanently, I'm going to need to deal with it again eventually.
And a fairy cake that is as "perfectly done" as I can make it will no longer be so after a day in the Texas sun.
So...can anyone help me with this part of the process?

I have dogs and I would like to put the offerings near my house, I can’t put it in my backyard or front yard because I have outdoor cats and my dogs will find it when I take them out. In the summer I get a lot of misquotes and bugs so when I open my window to give them offerings the bugs will fly in. Do they come out in the winter and fall? A few days ago, my grandmother visited her husband's grave
Someone put twigs on the grave, she didn't like them very much,
so she took them home to throw them away
(she could have done it right away but for some reason she took them home)
In the evening, she was woken up by voices coming from the kitchen.
where she left the twigs she took
she went to check who it was and she heard voices coming from the branches!!
The discussion was strange and incomprehensible, like two quarreling squirrels :D from a Disney cartoon
she threw the twigs out the window and the discussion ended
I wonder what it could have been?
The spirits of dead people would speak an understandable language
and if grandma had something wrong with her head and the voices were only in her head, they wouldn't stop after throwing the twigs out the window

I left milk and bite-size lumps of cake and biscuits. I didn't ask or said anything, just left it outside in the windowsill. After a while doing this, things started to come up when I needed them. Like, being hungry nothing in the fridge and a biscuit mysteriously happens on the table. Or finding something I really liked but thought lost for a long time.

With fae it's so important to have boundries. Give and inch and many of them will take a mile. It's why sorry and thank you are not a good idea. It gives them the impression that you still owe them a debt or are willing to do more for them. I'm an anxious person, so I say it on occasion accidentally. The best way I've found to fix this, is to set out an offering and tell them that this is to square away the apology. That everything is even and all debts are being paid. It seems to go over well. I find afterwards one or two of my things might go up and missing for a day. Probably because the fae in my area seem to get cranky that they couldn't get away with an extra debt or two. But everything is usually resolved fine and nothing ever says missing longer than a day or so. xD

Wouldn't alcohol be just as critical as chocolate to leave out in the nature? I mean, I wouldn't want any animal passing by to have an alcohol poisoning. But I have to say that to me, it would be too risky to work with the Fae anyway. Only one tiny mistake and good night. And I know I am anything but perfect.

    • @HearthWitch
      @HearthWitch  5 лет назад +5

You wouldn't need to leave out a lot, just a dash in the bottom of a teacup can be enough depending on the fae. it's unlikely to be enough to harm any animal, you can also create faery wine but leave out the yeast so it doesn't ferment into an alcohol if this is better.

I was wondering if it could have been a faerie since they don't like iron and I've been opening up my world to them. I'm worried about this, if it's not the fae, I don't know what to think.
