Life Hack, Buy used. The second you drive a new car off the lot you've lost 5k; AT LEAST.
Shoot, more that lol.
@@RonsRides Haha, just picked up a 2014 Ghibli S and I absolutely love it!
Steven Commisso feel bad for you bro, is a Chrysler, but hey if you happy and don’t care about huge devaluation then congrats
With that logic, a Lamborghini is an Audi. Same engine, same buttons and infotainment lol.
Rons Rides prefer an Audi with engineering history instead of Chrysler, come on bro lol
Paying extra into your loan just saves you interest and it really doesn’t save you that much interest because most interest is charged in the beginning. You are almost always better to do a shorter term loan than to pay extra on a longer term loan.
Interesting video, Thanks Ron. I guess I'm lucky i being more than twice your age. In the UK my insurance is only £450, and I use about £100 of fuel per month. The service intervals are every two years or 12k miles and my Ghibli is only one year old with 5k on the clock, so this year I've only spent approx $2000.... probably the same this coming year of ownership but will need to include the first service cost. Doubt I'll need tyres for another couple of years....
Fred its crazy your service is every 2 years or twelve thousand miles. I would have saved a lot more money that route lol. Thanks for sharing your running costs with us, especially for being over the pond since I know everyone who watches dont have USD currency.
Hey Ron, great video.
I own a 2015 SQ4. This past 12 months I paid $1000 for insurance, $500 for new rear tires (including mounting). I prepaid the first 4 yearly maintenance services when I bought the car (back in 2015) for about $1750 - so that’s about $500 for 2019 (4th service included oil change, air/pollen filter changes, drive belt replacements, and brake fluid change). I paid $1200 for fuel (I drive about 7k miles per year). Then there’s my car payments at $875/month (=$10,500 this past year). I had put down a $32,000 trade when I bought the car in 2015 plus about $7000 cash to cover the tax and an extra down payment. In total I paid $13,700 the past year.
Mike!!!! Thanks for the breakdown. This is a amazing example of what another Ghibli owner pays and how different your ownership can be depending on the route you take. I really appreciate you lending this info to everyone on the channel! Kudos my friend!
That interior is so dope. You are fortunate that you don't live in Michigan where insurance rates are loopy.
That is how much I paid to purchase my Accord sedan in 2013, which has cost me next to nothing to maintain, and never had a single problem.
First off I don't blame anyone for wanting a car, like this. It's a beautiful vehicle. However I would get a more affordable car and pay your self the difference. You are a young person, start saving your money. The older you, will thank the young you. And when you are a little older you can have any car you want and pay cash for it. It's just that cars are such a bad investment. I know this advise doesn't sound like much fun. But I know it works . Thank you for the video
Congrats on 7k. Once again thanks for the ownership perspective. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future for you!
Thank you Miggy!! Its been an amazing thing to watch the channel grow. I have a bunch of new things planned for this year. This channel will hopefully do great things.
Thank you for this video. I’ve been conducting research and having the TCO (total cost of ownership) has been very helpful.
My pleasure Kim, Im really glad it could help and sorry it took me SO long to make a video like this!
Ron, what things went wrong with the car that was covered by warranty?
Paying down the loan only saves you a bit of $ in interest. It otherwise doesn't "save you money in the long run due to depreciation." The car will depreciate how ever it will. You either pay for that depreciation ahead of time (by making larger than required monthly payments) or on the back end when you sell/trade the car. Also, leasing doesn't really get around the issue of quick depreciation. Far from it. That lost value via depreciation is already built into the lease payment via the residual. In fact on a lease you are eating the very worst of the depreciation, which occurs in the first 3 years.
I try to explain to people this when they want me to lease and I always say, if it makes sense sure. But in most cases I plan on keeping my car and never do which is why I bite the bullet. But hey this is the longest I've had a car before in the past 7 years so that says something haha. next car we'll see if I finance or lease. Probably finance. Who knows though.
herrdoktorprofessor sometimes leasing companies overestimate the residual on a particular car. Those are the cars to lease.
Also some dealerships will lease loaner or even slightly used cars. Those leases can sometimes be crazy good deals.
Great discussion and it puts things in perspective as far as driving a desirable car, like the Ghibli. It seems high when you first mentioned the cost but when broken down it seems quite alright.
I’m going to track the ownership costs of my Giulia. Coming up for one year and I have recorded all gas purchases plus a few (not really needed) upgrades like the rear spoiler. No maintenance costs yet except $33 for three liters of the correct 0W40 Pennzoil Fiat spec oil that I keep for top up purposes. Since I purchased the car I’m not sure yet how to account for depreciation each year. I know it lost about 10 grand the instant I drove it off the lot :(
Yeah Martyn we get hit with the depreciation curse pretty badly with our brands. And I wanted to break it down so folks would understand where their money would be going and where they could potential save. I'm curious to see a similar breakdown with running costs of the Giulia as you mentioned.
I'll give you 25K for it :) JK I wouldn't spend a cent on this POS
So honestly the breakdown is you can buy a boring BMW 5 series which are a nightmare to work on on no one takes a second look at or an even more boring Mercedes e class which no one looks at and sounds like nothing
Congratulations!!! 7k well deserved Subs! 20k by the end of the Year??? i say yes, mark my words
Hey lets speak it into existence! I'm hoping for 10k by the time summer hits so 20k ma be a real number with the content I have planned for the channel.
People that drive Masarati dont care about maintenance costs and insurance lol.
Sure they do
Chicks and cars cost a lot my friend. Always did and always will !!😀😀😀
Lmao truer words have never been spoken.
hey Ron, @ 6:17 you’re reviewing the window sticker talking about the fuel cost and you were commenting about the subjective factors and you stated not being sure what their $2,600 fuel estimate was based on.. if you look just above your thumb it says “based on $15,000 miles per year at $3.80 per gallon” just a heads up. awesome video! i still want a ghibli though lol $21k 3rd year cost be damned im going to get one
Oh shit, good catch!!! I dont know why I didnt look at or mention that. Haha please still do get one, I dont regret it one bit. The car has brought me so much joy these past years.
When I bought my 08' GT, I paid cash for it . 31k. I considered that a loss and dumb decision, but I love the car and have lost a lot more in the market.
All my cars are used..ill never buy a new one again. I understand what I'm getting into but if I like it l like it. About to get a brake job for my 2014 quattroporte..$$$..but I love my car and enjoying it. No desire for anything else so far.
$$$ for sure but its costs to be the boss haha. I'll be doing a brake job video soon!
@@RonsRides ..yes!!!
How much is the break job?
I'm glad Maseratis are out of the price range of most, that's what makes it special. Poor people aren't supposed to be able to afford it. "Rarely seen, always heard."
I don't know where the $2,600 fuel cost is from or how it s calculated.... But in the black bar right under the fuel cost it say number based on driving 15,000 per year at $3.80 per gallon.
Great video Ron. Thank you for sharing your details, I always appreciate your honesty and transparency in the videos you create for us! In Canada, the dealer includes the 4 year maintenance in the purchase price, so we eat it upfront. Price to pay to play with these Italian beauties.
That is the price you pay and its well worth it. We just started doing the 3 years of free maintenance for all new Maserati's hopefully that will entice new customers.
I you should talk to the dealerships you'll be easier to move those cars if the if the maintenance wasn't so expensive $500 for an oil change might as well buy a a Corvette the same thing without with Alfa Romeo that's why those cars aren't aren't selling too expensive to maintain
I have Geico and find them to be wonderful.
when you lease, you are paying for what you use and the depreciation is baked into it, hence the big monthly payment and big down payment. but leasing is good for business write off. plus, I would only ever lease a maserati, buying it new or used is financial suicide.
Great video nice job
Excellent video. Thank you! I plan to buy on soon!
1205$ Is nothing in Italy for that performances
I agree and disagree with your approach of summing finance with usage because this scare people a lot: 21k!!. Looking just for usage coast (Assurance, fuel and maintenance, tyres), it's looks reasonable for an exotic car in US. Leasing a car you are just paying the car depreciation calculated value and overall dealer coast with "owning" the car after all. The big difference is that you don't have to pay the car completely and deal at the end with the selling and real depreciation value. Today, if you will not keep a car forever, that's the way to go forward purchasing a car. Let the dealer deal with the car selling at leasing end, you just "washes your hands" like Pontius Pilate did.
Im def not trying to scare people but just to share my experiences as usual and let people make their own decisions. I was trying to make a point of saying this is what 'I' pay at my own accord and that while some of it cant be helped, the other half is what I decided to invest in the car. Hope that came across that way.
I'd never own a Maserati because they're crap. But to each their own
I can see most of this maintenance being done without having to go to a dealer. Could save a dramatic amount.
bro you talk to much about non sense please get to the point next time
I was paying 420 a month for my 2011 Maserati. I’m 41 and no accidents.. Dang!
Reasonable or too much money?! Let me know how y'all feel!
Just came across your channel, peace from the UK.
Thanks for stopping by and showing the channel love!
Its a chunk of change for sure.
Rons Rides pleasure 👍
Ron love your blog my dude....I'm inspired to get a 2016....I have watched all the Doug M videos...he suckz...I had a hummer , range rover and he dogged them....the same as Maserati.....but thank u for the insight....as of now ownership is my cheaper under 30k....I plan to do my own oil changes.....and small maintenace....but what other engine problems or fix have u experienced...no one is talking about that...
The $2600 costs on the sticker and how they estimate that costs was right by your thumb on the ticket.
$350 dollars for an oil change? “ oooo my gawwwd”
They use Ferrari oil!
That’s a lot for insurance I’d drop Geico.
I’m paying 1300 a year for a Giulia TI Sport and a Ford Fiesta ST at 25 years old.
doesn't matter what your paying has just as much to do with your zip also, Florida insurance just seems to be higher across the board for people
By Florida standard that's really cheap for a Maseratti.
My 08 GT has 28k miles and I have only spent 3,500
I own both a2019 Gransport Ghibli and. 2019 Gransport Levante. Out right and loving it.
Thats amazing and garage goals!
@@RonsRides I want to get the Alpha Romero Quad Guilia next. I bought my Ghibli and Levante because I had watched your videos and thank you for all that info it really helped me when I bought both for me and my wife so Thank you
With The ChairmanTreize Genovese it's Alfa Romeo 😉
And the Giulia Quadrifoglio is an amazing drive!
So ? You want a medal or something ?
Ron, I am thinking of buying a Ghibli in the UK. Everyone in these videos gets their servicing done at Maserati or Ferrari. Why is this? Would I be able to get my car serviced with my local mechanics? I live in the country some distance from any Maserati dealers.
Join MaseratiLife form. They are not bad to maintain nor to work on
@@ericyoung3003 Cheers mate, but that was two years ago. I got an E350 Conv Merc, Blueline Efficiency, top of the range, etc.
You might want to shop insurance rates, my friend. Nice work on explaining the cost of ownership.
Ive heard that might be a little high but I dont have any friends to compare Maserati insurance prices with to see lol.
Don’t you have price comparison sites like confused.com in the uk?
@@RonsRides You can call other insurance companies. I would start with State Farm. Full coverage for QV in Nashville region is $1,000 per year full coverage $500 deductible. Rates will vary by region. Just make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Progressive and Geico has some of the highest rates in the country.
Are the nerissmo editions Maserati’s no longer limited editions like they first came out? I’ve noticed now it is just a package ?
Thats true. When they first came out they were limited only to black cars and came as is. Now they can be added as a package to any Ghibli in 7 colors.
Thanks Ron love your vids, I just financed my 2018 Ghibli sq4 in December i plan on keeping it for 3 years i owe 58,000$ on it when I plan on getting a new maserati in 3 years how much should I pay it off until I trade it in
Well with the current market used Ghibli's are in the high 30's low 40's range for re-sale. So you're going to want your car paid down to break even to at least $30K but things ma change by then.
If you chose a Maserati you should have a salary or income of a huge disposable income.
Seems pricey for the insurance.
Love the intro
Thanks Arman!
FF starts 2:52
I wish you could keep all the at cost prices out as it isn't relevant to most people who want to buy this car
9:34 but isnt that just the standard FCA key fob? Why is it that expensive?
Im not sure what the standard FCA keyfob looks like. What it is is they charge a half hour of labor for something that takes 10 minutes.
1843$ insurance? haha thats insane cheap. In Austria the insurance for a 2016 Ghibli S is 2828€ which is about 3178$. When it comes to Cars Austria sucks...
Holy crap lol. Yeah I figured with my good record I was paying an amazing rate. Guess I should be thankful ahah.
I pay $980 for a new Alfa Romeo Giulia full coverage in California. Your rates are insane in Austria. Someone in government doesn't want its citizens to own high performance cars.
Financing a new Maserati is a sound investment choice. Jesus H Christ .
Can you just go to a random service center to get the service done?
Edison Yuzhe Jiang yes
NO...I have owned five jag's over the years, the most expensive was my 87' XJS HE V12, beautiful car, cost over 12k a yr to maintain. Rule of thumb, if worried over yrly cost, then, pal...stick to a ford
What's next, Giulia QV?
Probably something a little more on the modest side while I make some business moves.
Rons Rides I was hoping for some of your awesome videos on the QV as well...
Best of luck whatsoever you end up doing/getting :)
If you can't afford it, don't buy it.
Was insurance liability or full coverage?
Full coverage, sorry should have explained.
Sir Tristan that’s what you think ...
Haha I’ll give you that one , don’t even wanna speak about them they trash
2:20 keeping a used car will always be cheaper; I think u just want a justification to get another car
Please correct me if I am wrong but it sounds like you pay almost $1,500 a month for this car? I am sorry but that is insane.
It sounds like you rolled some other money from previous cars into this one.
Honestly, continuously rolling that money into cars is a terrible idea.
I think you should forget about getting a nice car and just concentrate on getting rid of that never ending debt.
By a used SUV that won’t depreciate much and do everything you can to pay off that previous debt as soon as possible.
I hope it all works out for you. I like your videos and you are a great guy. However, it honestly sounds like you have put yourself into a not great financial position with these cars. That is a shame.
To each it’s own!
Should of gotta used qp cash
Funny you say that, I'll be making a similar video about that soon.
Maserati looks like a Lovely car, but the depreciation kills you. You said in another video you paid $30,000.00 for a car that was $90,000.00 when new?
these are the worst money pits in the car industry. Avoid buying at all costs. bad electrical poor transmission average track stats for a sports car.. price model is awful lol
Wow 21k is mucho dinero
Should do a mercedes or BMW engine swap...problem solved
Ali Alrashidi what?!
You're not sure what mileage is involved in the $2,600 annual fuel cost estimate? Well, have a look at the piece of paper that you're holding and showing us. 15,000 miles is what it says. Urgh.
You got a problem. You repeat always the same thing
It's trash. It's all branding nothing else. You'd be better off with an m5 or a e63amg
Lol you watch the same RUclipsrs as me
M5 trash...you can't go wrong with a Benz, but this car isn't that expensive
No what's trash is buying the same car like everyone else...buying a new Chrysler 300 for 50,000 and it's worth 5,000 ....I myself buy what I like..
Better of walking 🚶 compare to this shit box
Wow! Insurance to high. Check Mercury.
What should it be at for this type of car?
NF
honestly... just tooo much money. but owning this kind of car comes with great expenses
I always tell people, buying a car is one thing, but owning it is a whole different story.
@@RonsRides I agree 100%
What a shitty car man I sorry !
Why cant you stand still ffs
Do yourself a favor and sell the car, you throwing money away on a high end Chrysler yet charging you for Italian name. Your interior buttons are from a Dodge Dart, that should be a huge warning sign. Good luck, bad investment in my opinion. Lol, Ferrari and ghibli should not be under the same roof, kind of disgraceful
The engine itself is $21k with Ferrari components. If you lift up the engine cover (which is easy to do) you can see Ferrari written on the spark plug coils. Not sure if you're new but I work for the Maserati Alfa Romeo dealer so I have to go to training courses on how they cars are made. The argument of buttons and infotainment isnt enough to say its a Chrysler when there are so many other components to the car. Trust me I've heard the same thing for the past 4 years lol. Gotta learn to let people live and do them and enjoy what they're enjoying without trying to tear them down my friend. You'll die a happy person that way =)
Rons Rides my man you can do whatever you want, I’m happy for you, trust me I wouldn’t make that financial mistake, the car might say Ferrari all it want but it devaluates like a Chrysler, when the sales person is willing to take 20k of MSRP you can tell Ferrari ain’t got a thing to do with it. You would talk good about it when you work for them I get it but to the public you can tell them the truth and how is a disservice to own this car. Dealers are so aggressive to get rid of them that is pretty sad. But hey enjoy it my man, no hate on you, is more of a car manufacture scheme and that is what bothers me. Be happy my man, make your money and live healthy, cheers
Should of gotten an Alfa Giulia quadrifoglio < real Ferrari motor 😐
Twinkle Rod my man it’s a Maserati, the new lambo suv has a Audi chassis and a Porsche engine and a rolls Royce is basically a bmw.. so don’t get it twisted, I have a quattroporte gts with a 3.8 ferrari engine and trust me I never look at the window switches and neither does any guest sitting in my vehicle.
streetsweeper49 you shouldn’t use Maserati along the other cars you mentioned, they none devalue as bad as that “Maserati”, garbage car, Porsche is Porsche, years of engineering, please don’t compare that car to this shit, maybe then I’ll take you seriously lol, I’ll take Porsche technology in my car all day, everyday, Maserati, ehhh no thanks, keep it, it won’t be worth much pretty soon
Two words, - JESUS CHRIST!
Way too much, it's a beautiful car but so expensive to just maintain, you could buy another somewhat decent car for 20thousand dollars!!
Crazy to think that this is consider an 'expensive' car in the automotive exotic car industry....
ShawShank you might not have seen the complete breakdown of the cost... $17,776 of that $21,000 was the monthly price of the car for the year so the maintenance cost was under $4k
@UCCOQ6EA17gmnpilh-yHMrMg You are correct, i saw the begging price and then went off out of shock i was like Woah! But now that makes loads of sense. Thanks Reviewfever
