Im just trying to buy a Sim rig frame to put in there :) I have a HUGE passion for sim racing, and really cannot wait to eventually have a full setup like this (if i can afford it)... A little bit different to mine. I am a self employed software dev so due to space restrictions I use my work PC that runs absolutely everything on it! Steering and pedals is a G29 from ebay. PC is an 8 core Ryzen 7 running at 4ghz. 64 Gbyte RAM. 8 Gbyte 170GTi and a 27 inch LG monitor. The "cockpit" is the wheel clamped to my desk, the pedals on the floor held in place by a wall, and my office chair held in place by towels wrapped around the wheels (seriously - it is). Its not pretty but it works and provides a huge amount of fun
A great insight into your world, thank you. I have a similar beast computer and it runs well. I am still trying to work out how to put more into my video like the tv screen you have in the top right corner. I suppose it is done during the editing phase which I tend to be no good at.
Thanks for this Dave, really appreciate it. I've spent months and months and months following pc builders and SIM racers to work out what PC specs I need to run triple 1440p for iRacing and ACC. Very jealous of the setup. Wish I had the space, but downsizing etc. Hope to one day get a DD wheelbase someday, but will have to attach to the desk. Just re-watching your old ETS2 videos. It's the only sim I can play (relativity) well using an Xbox controller. Also, it gives me time to catch up on some vinyl I have bought but not listened to yet, along with processing the passing of my mum last Weds 😥💔. But enough of that. That space above the big monitor looks ripe for a Bowens mount video light (Godox SL60W), with a stripbox softbox positioned horizontally That’ll make for a softer key light than 2 small LED panels. They usually come with a fabric grid to control the spill and still let your blue BG light to do its thing

Hey Dave Do you ever find slight disadvantages with the single screen? I know when i went from single to triples i found it easier to puck out certain apexes. Turn 4 Silverstone foe example?! Love the set-up. Can't wait for the next community race day, hint hint. Keep up the good work- awesome!!!
IMHO, you can't go wrong with a Fractal Design case. That's all I'll buy because I DO NOT want tempered glass side panels, I don't see the point. Hardly any manufacturers are making solid case sides anymore. I have two Define R6, a Pop, and a Meshify.

When you are pulling protecting film from glass or case walls you are generating huge amount of static electricity, which can cause full death of PC electronics, so never do this while the glass or case wall is mounted onto chassis with installed electronics. First get the glass off of case, then pull protecting film, "ground yourself" while holding glass to discharge and mount it back. The worst you can do is to also do it, while the PC is turned on - it is safer when turned off, but plugged into outlet - then it's grounded. You did also leak your Windows key 🙈

Nice setup, looks optimum to me. Poster of Lando Norris on the wall in front of you perhaps ? I somehow missed the period when you switched back to 4K TV, when was that? I remember a year ago you did it due to technical PC reasons and then switched back after you fixed it. Seems like it is for content producing reasons now - same screen we are seeing + bonus of 4K TV with DVR picture quality is better

It was excellent. The only reason it isn't on is because my mic is attached to the rig so I was getting vibration through the mic. It's a content creator issue so would impact most people.
@davecamyt - Thanks very much for this. I'm running 1080 27" triples, and I want to upgrade to 1440. Do you still feel 27" is the way to go for triples? What is your opinion on flat vs curved? (I notice Julie's rig has curved - which Asus model are those?)
You did miss something. It's in there, he said if he wants to use triples he uses it and his wife uses it other times. He uses single monitor primarily because it's easier for content creation.

I've never tried the Simagic stuff so couldn't really say. The BDH is on another level compared to anything else I've used. Yes it essentially does the same thing, but words can't describe the feeling if that makes sense 😁

I really like to build my rig in a way that it comes closest to how the actual cars are driven so I use the manual H pattern for the FF1600 class, but it is actually the only H pattern car I drive at this point. I know you say it’s best for streaming with a single screen but is the 49 a better choice for size or is it too big. It’s so hit or miss with comments and opinions. I’m looking at either the AGON 49 ultrawide or the BenQ 34 ultrawide. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Why have you chosen a 16:9 over the wide?
I've gone for the 16/9 just for creation purposes and it just makes things a little easier for me. I went for a 48" so even on a wide (for a single screen) fov it still looks in proportion 👍

True, I got the Fractal Design Define 7 XL, and this case is a monster. You can fit anything in it. It will last a lifetime.

They are just some old Sony ones as I broke my others. Need to look out for some new ones

Yeah it gets toasty but if I open a window at the front and one at the rear (in the shower room) I get a nice flow of air 😁
What FOV are you using in iRacing? I also race a LG C3, but 55inch.

I'm returning to Sim Racing and looking at going for a large single screen. Are you using any sort of head tracking ? Or do you find FOV ok with large screen size.

I find it perfectly fine. I may lose out a little when side by side but it's not as often as you'd think during a race
@@davecamyt Unless your Oval racing where side by side is constant. Ive always said, road racing is really just time trialing after the first few laps and corner 1.

Both are very different but both amazing. One is much cheaper than the other though so that has to be a consideration 👍
