When going with curved monitors one crucial thing is the curvature of the monitor 800R to 1800R, depending on the sitting position measure the distance from ur eyes to the screen in front round it off in thousands and u have ur curvature. My Feature set for the perfect monitor would be LG 45" OLED curved monitor only con is it's 800R which is a bit to close considering my hand length and steering base depth. 1000R should be the sweet spot.

Nice video! I've been sim racing with a vr headset for a while now and I'm considering switching to a triple monitor or ultrawide setup. Racing in vr is incredible but generally vr headsets don't make use of displayport cables yet. I have to use mine wirelessly, which introduces frequent annoying networking stutters. This is a real shale, as I'm a massive fan of vr gaming.

It uses a DisplayPort, ensuring a more stable connection, and overall, it's a fantastic headset.

It's been a great monitor looks excellent, IMO, but I don’t have a lot of experience with others to compare with the Zotac 4090. Performance is great. I think for the price, they are an excellent option, but I may upgrade them at some point. The display port 1.2 is not an issue since 1.4 is backwards compatible. They are a bit older, so maybe, at this point, there might be a better option out there for you. I haven’t felt the urge to upgrade them yet if I do it will be for 4K at somepoint.

Quick question: I have a ps5 so am unable to use ultrawide or triple screen. What size would you suggest for a single screen setup and would you use a curved or flat monitor? I have a monitor stand so can place it as far or close as i would like.

    • @simracingden

It really depends on how close you can sit to it. When I first got into sim racing, I had this 48" LG C1 OLED TV right in front of me on my Trak Racer TR8 setup. It was awesome because it had all the good stuff like HDMI 2.1, VRR, HDR, and 120Hz, perfect for my PS5 and Xbox Series X. I never felt the need for anything bigger, but I can't deny that a larger screen adds to the immersion. Honestly, I don't think a curved screen matters much, especially if you're using just one monitor.

I'm using a 42in lg c2 and it's amazing for gt7, acc, etc on ps5. Once I get a pc IL be getting 2 more to do triple 42in oled setup. Kinda wish I would have went with the 48 but either is great and i got the 42 on sale for 700. I have it mounted to a full motion wall mount so I can't get my rig (simlab p1x) as close as I'd like but I have it set right behind my dd1 and with the lack of fov adjustment in gt7, it lines up perfectly with the wheel in most cars. I would say its roughly 6cm or 2ft from my eyes. It feels extremely immersive. Would definetly recomend the 42in c1/2/3.

I cannot fit triple 32s but considering swapping my 49 UW for triple 27. Is there any advantage with curved 27 vs flat? Also, since the 27” is narrower even with a bezel kit does the bezel completely disappear? I like how my 49 is unbroken for the windshield

    • @simracingden

Curved vs. Flat doesn't make a difference. It's a personal perspective. I like how curved looks and feels, but it's very subjective. The bezel free kit does not completely dissapear, but you will likely eventually not notice it is much but can't beat the uniformity of the ultrawide.

A lot less detail for sure the reason I was thinking about going to 1080 is because I will be going from one screen to three. But I'm thinking about getting three 4K TVs because the scaling actually divides out equally instead of 1.5 scale which I think is the reason why it doesn't look so great. My plan was to use the PC that I have now to run three to run three 1440 monitors at 1080p since I already have one and then eventually down the road upgrade my setup and run 1440p all of them but I think honestly it would be better for me to just get the 4K TVs run them at 1080P and then run them at 4K later when I get a better set up.

My experience has been that VR is starkly superior both for immersion and for actual results. I personally find the timing of my turns much, much easier to judge in VR because it's actually 3D. I find it so much better I honestly would never again even consider a racing game that didn't support it.

I agree that VR gives the best immersion. However, not all people can race with VR such as motion sickness, and face gets quite warm too after a while, or cheek muscle ache caused by the face insert, extra cable around the head or battery issue if it's wireless VR headset etc.
I love racing with my quest 2 but sometimes it's just easier to use the monitor for quick race or hang out with friends. Also (for me) it's easier to do Livestream if racing with monitor instead of VR, and allow me to be aware of what's happening irl in the house (i.e. wife and kids etc) :)

I prefer monitors over VR as well. I raced a decent amount with a quest 2 and it just feels inconvenient and can be finicky sometimes. Right now I'm building a new full Sim Racing setup and I'm having trouble deciding between 1 curved or 3 flat. Trying to find the best bang for my buck.

@@nothingproheretv maybe if you got more advanced motion sickness, thats ok but nevertheless if you have motion sickness triple monitor should also make you nauseuos because of higher peripheral view, everybody got motion sickness in VR in first couple of times, its normal, you just need to adjust your body. I hate when people say "hurr durr VR makes me vomit" - like yeah there isnt one person even without motion sickness who didnt felt MS at least once in VR. In more advanced games like Bonelab/Boneworks or any game where you can move freely, 100% first couple secs/mins will be nauseating then you will accustome.

    • @simracingden
      @simracingden  Год назад +1

@@gstylez909 Choosing between the Neo G7 and the LG C2 42-inch largely depends on what you prioritize in a display for your sim racing setup.
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 is a gaming monitor with a curved screen, fast response times, and a high refresh rate (240Hz), making it ideal for fast-paced gaming like sim racing. Its Quantum Mini LED technology can offer excellent contrast and colors. However, its size may be smaller than what you're looking for in a sim racing setup.
On the other hand, the LG C2 42-inch is an OLED TV, meaning it will likely have superior color accuracy, contrast, and viewing angles compared to the G7. Its response time and input lag are also excellent. However, its refresh rate might be lower than the G7.
If your focus is primarily sim racing and other fast-paced games and you appreciate the immersion a curved screen can provide, the Neo G7 might be a better choice. If you're looking for a larger screen that can double for general media consumption, offering superb image quality, the LG C2 42-inch could be a great option.
Remember to consider the space you have available, and how far you'll be sitting from the screen as both of these factors can influence your overall experience.

I only have 1 argument: Curved monitors are FALSE immersions. Why? Because I saw no game that asks about it. And basically it renders a flat scene, that the monitor projects on a curve. The higher the curvature, the more discepancies. I also saw no driver (NV, AMD) that makets detection of curved monitor to change that render plane and override the game setup. Again: GPUs render a flat image.
I played for 5 years on 3 monitors, and played them flat (side-by-side), because only 2 sims (iRacing, and I don't recall the other) had the monitor angles as parameters. All others did not even know that 3 monitors are active and I had to use NV surround to simulate a very wide monitor.
99% of people who "buy" the curved marketing have no idea how the rendering is done. Unfortunately that extends to product availability. When I bought my current 34" 21:9 monitor, I basically spent 1 week to find I can only choose between 2 models. Over 10 I eliminated just because of being curved. Oh, and I wanted 1080p, but due to that availability, I only could buy 1440p. (1080p means GPU can make 50% more frames in the same time)
Curving a monitor has only 1 advantage: viewing angles of the sides of the image. They can basically put a cheaper (with worse viewing angles) curved panel than a better flat one for the same width.
Also, for sim-racing, I see no reason for 4K and 1440p. If you push 4K, your FPS will be lower. So just go 1080p with max frames you can. You can even reduce the GPU budget, not to mention 1080p monitors are cheaper. I don't spend time in racing games for sight-seeing. I spend it to find MY limits.

I was just ranting about cuved monitors, as I tried 3 24" monitors and ended using them flat becasue of SW (games that did not have multi-monitor angle settings). And I extrapolate that with today's curved monitors, as the rendered image is intended for flat display (i.e. periferic imaging will be distorted).
