And I also agree with George Pollock who said 'you have a gift for teaching' and you certainly do. Clear, concise and easy to follow. If only the wind would stop blowing here.......!
Without doubt that is the most informative video I have seen and I have looked at a lot. It has helped me, so thank you. Technically, it is also better than any others I have seen with the constant close-up in miniature and the controller both in view. Better even than the corporate videos, so again, thanks and well done.
Out of all the videos I watched for beginners yours by far was the most informative being able to watch the controller as you were flying. Brilliant. Thanks.
Ive been wanting to take up RC planes for a while now , this video is easily the best on you-tube for 3 reasons 1) you explain everything that a beginner like me can understand , the tips are brilliant 2) love the box were it shows the beginner how the controls should be used 3) Close-up of the plane in the air and what happens when you do this or that with the control To all beginners ... save this video and subscribe cos this man WILL learn you in easy to understand language to fly RC planes
I'm glad you took the time to make these videos. I plan to purchase my first RC plane ever. Just retired and need something that I can do, and want to do.
I'm a noob and started "flying" a few weeks ago. Your training video is the first one I've seen that talks about stick movements, which is exactly what noobs need to know. The only thing I would add is to tell the noobs to BUY A SIMULATOR. The great thing about simulators is that they help you get over the orientation problem.
i tried for several month without a sim... big mistake bc i destroyed my first kit plane (cheapo tho). now i crash diy foamies, a bit easier emotionally :p FMS is free and will definitely help out when you have no skills like me. also tons of free planes to download and use with fms if you know where to look or can use the ol' googly-eyes... fms here > http :// modelsimulator. com/
I first tried to fly my 4 ch rc when in 2012 when I was 12, with no experience, at my first turn I dived and obviously freaked out. The plane hammered into the ground, since then I kept it on the shelf and never thought to fly it again. Now having seen your video I'm planning to fly it again, with a bit more of knowledge. Hope after maintenance that old plane will be stronk again😄
hi the hobbyking tuff trainer 2 is a great beginner plane, easy to assemble, made of epp foam.reasonable priced, great product, and you can buy a hobbyking simulator to practice on.worth a look.
Thanks, you have just given me the impetus to get out there, I bought a RC plane bout 10 years ago it’s still in the Box 📦 I am a new subscriber!! Looking forward to seeing more videos!!💜💜💜
Hello, Thanks for the support. You can view the many tutorials on my channel. ruclips.net/user/VoroRC Just go there and click on "videos" and all will be listed. Be sure to stay tuned as more tutorials are releasing soon. Thanks, Voro.
this is absolutely the best learning video I have seen yet I just purchased a FMS super EZ I haven't gotten it up in the air yet I think I have room here in my yard after I learn how to fly it's a little intimidating I was trying it out yesterday and chickened out I'm going to wheelchair I can't walk I need to go somewhere with more room then I would feel more comfortable here less trees and houses I have probably watched this video at least 10 times but as always thank you buddy and I will subscribe and check out more of your videos
Thank you so much for this video. I received RF 7.5 on the 11/01/ 17. I made a promise to myself to just fly the trainer first until i become good at basic flying before i move to faster more extreme planes. The way you have said to fly is just what i needed. I was always using the rudder to turn as well as the wing flaps and was getting into all sorts of problems. I take it then i should leave the rudder alone until i make a landing and then use rudder for correction on the runway. Thanks again i have become better at flying
I just flew my first r/c airplane flight ever this morning after watching your video like 4 times last night .. excellent help ! I have a flyzone tidewater
If you are teaching someone to fly for the first time, they need to know 'as the airplane flys away from you right is right and left is left'. BUT when flying back toward yourself, this is reversed. This is where most new pilots run into trouble. I was taught the "LOW WING" method. Low Wing is simply to move the stick toward the low wing of the plane when it is coming toward you. Some have a tendency to turn their backs to the oncoming plane and look over their shoulder but this should be discouraged. Practicing with the Low Wing method, the transition from going away and returning will become natural. Dennis B. , Coarsegold, CA
Yeah well said Dennis.. That was the one tip that has helped me the most whilst learning. I'm still learning now really but I'm getting there slowly. I think it's very easy for people who've been flying for a long time to forget how difficult a simple thing like that can seem to a total beginner, especially when the pressure's on because your beloved new toy is finally in the air and the adrenaline's pumping but you know that one wrong move and you've knackered it!!
" move the stick toward the low wing of the plane when it is coming toward you. " what? I assume this means if the wings are not level to begin with, otherwise you don't have a low wing - if the wings are level and if one wing is low and you move the control toward that wing then you would reverse the direction of the turn and level out or if you keep turning you will go the opposite direction. Or by low wing - are you saying, while flying level toward you imagine you want to turn and imagine the wing is low in that direction then move the stick toward that wing and you will turn that way.
He's just talking about flying a simple oval as a beginner - when you're turning the plane around to fly back towards you and suddenly it seems like the controls are reversed - it's just an easy way to level out the plane when coming out of the turn (a time when a beginner can easily forget which way is which and just end up banking further in the same direction).
Take note of the safe mode. If you're getting the kit with the controller, also note that the "panic switch" is very close to the switch that will put it in advanced mode. Made that mistake myself.
Thank you! I took my Bix3 for a flight yesterday, and being a super excited 14 decided to fly it in 15mph wind, I crashed, but plane is repaired and going back up on a windles day :)
I'm introducing a friend to RC and had already been a subscriber to your channel, but had never seen this video before. I'll definitely be showing him this and I'm sure it will help out a lot. Great job on this 'How to Fly' video!
I used to fly on a simulator. I loved it. There were several views. FPV, Rear View (chase) and field view. It was suggested to only fly in field view because that is what I would be doing and I did not have a camera on my glider as of yet. I am looking forward to getting back to flying.
if you are flying a glow fuel plane, its always a good idea to fly near you, but lots of altitude. if you are way out there and your motor dies, you may not be able to bring it back in, but if your motor dies and you are way up high, you can easily circle your way back down.
Nice video. Good information and explained well. When I got my very first nitro trainer 40 plane I took the wheels off and fitted a set of double wheels on the front and a small wheel on the rear. I found it much better. I just didn't like the nose wheel at the front. Lol. That was about 12 years ago. I've broken a couple of planes in that time but I've still got my ripmax 40 trainer. I'm mostly moving over to electric planes now. It's cleaner and easier. But I'm keeping a couple of my nitro planes. Thanks for sharing your video. I've subscribed 👍
having just purchased the E-flite Apprentice about 2 months ago this is a great video however I haven't seen anything recent. Will there be others such as this ?
Since this video was posted several yrs ago before the eflite Timber came out do you still recommend the Apprentice as the best trainer? Even on a grass runway?
So my mind is blown right now. I just got done assembling my e flite apprentice and came across a video of a simulator with this plane!? What simulator is this? Pretty radical
wow This is really helpful for a beginner. Thanks for posting it. I don't understand the 27 dislikes ,what"s not to like about this? It is imperative to someone just starting and really the only tutorial I found. .Thanks again
Great video. Practice smart. Level wings, control altitude and throttle make a good pilot. A lot of people jump right into aerobatics, those are easy on a sim but a guaranteed crash on an airfield if basic flight isn't mastered. One bridge at a time. Thanks for the video and great tutorial.
Thanks bro very useful my first plane right now is a 540qq touchy on the stick im trying to tame it down any tips on the dr/expo rate?similar to heli but more time to correct an error way up high and it glides.
Id recommend two airplanes for a brand new pilot. For under 200 is the HobbyZone Super Cub But if you can pay a little more. The E-flite Apprentice is the best trainer possible. Comes with a great Transmitter. And will even get you through the beginner stages and into intermediate and learning basic aerobatics wheres the Super Cub will not. Thanks, Voro.
Rudder can be used for multiple things. For just basic flying and turning left and right you don't need it at all. But I will make a video tomorrow on optimizing your rudder so stay tuned Thanks, Voro.
Found the Sig LT40 a much better trainer than the Nexstar. Apprentice is good for beginner, but as its still only a park flyer, it involves another learning step for moving up to a faster nitro plane. Currently teaching a fellow at our club on a venerable LT40 that has a Saito 4-stroke motor. Lovely realistic sound and very reliable for practicing approaches & landings.
Hi Voro! Hope to hear back from you on this... I will greatly appreciate it. To keep the plane leveled while turning, do you increase Throttle? Or you just add more elevator? Thanks!
Usually one controller suits all, IF you have a bindable reciever compatible with that controller that you can shift into your second model, or just get a reciever for every one of your models; so you use that same remote, just bind it to each plane when you want to use it. Hope this helps! - Toby, KiwiRC Channel.
Thank You very much, this was very helpful! Even though we are an RC channel I still don't know how to fly 4CH properly without Gyro aid! Thanks again, I will try to put your advice to good use next time I fly! - Toby, KiwiRC Channel.

hey @voroRC.... i am a big fan of ur videos.... downloaded the Phoenix software learning from u..... i'm using product HobbyKing_HK6S_2_4Ghz_FHSS_6Ch_Tx_Rx_Mode_2_ how to connect it to my laptop and work on the software..... i mean what sort of USB cable do i need...

Hi there I just realized that my FutabaT7C has the control(Chanel 1) upside down in a simulator(PicaSim) when I move it up plane lift up,how can I change it.Thanks
Hey. Get a 4 channel one, and plug the rudder servo into the aileron slot for the first few flights. Don't plug the ailerons into the rudder slot though. Happy flying, Niilo

I cried over this video for 6000 days. I love you flight simulator guy man bro. Fuck yeah

wonder the reason for dislikes.

How do I get to see all your tutorials and what is this simulator you use I really like what you do Thank you.
u make it so easy thanks u got good gift of teachin

Gradually increase the speed as you ease into the turn.
Wonderful vid man, very helpful, Thankyou!
Thank you for taking the time do do this.
Thanks for making this video, I'm just learning to fly AN AXN.
do ailerons get less responsive at low speed?
Great instruction. Thanks
What is the best app for teaching me and practicing
Conversly for Spektrum radio the channel assignment is slightly different
Cheers Mate
Very informative video mate
Do you need to get a new controller every time you get a new plane?

Thank for adding this video on you tube
Hi very nice tutorial thanks .. Can you make one for flying wings like popwing .. I can't find any tutorials for it in you tube.
How realistic is Phoenix RC compared to the real thing? Is RealFlight better?
Thank You very much, this was very helpful! Even though we are an RC channel I still don't know how to fly 4CH properly without Gyro aid! Thanks again, I will try to put your advice to good use next time I fly! - Toby, KiwiRC Channel.
+VoroRC can you add the crankshaft trick? I'd love to learn that one!

What sim is the one you are using? The ones I have seen just see the plane from a distance which is hard to see what it is doing.
whats the name of this simulator ?
Hello,
Thanks a ton for the support, really means a lot. Unfortunately this quality of Simulator has a unique cord that only HorizonHobby sells. It's a little pricey, but well worth the money.
Thanks,
Voro.
Yes sir there is. In the future I will try to have both controls on the screen. Thanks for the suggestion.
It depends on the plane, sometimes yes, sometimes no. The hobby zone super cub is easier than the apprentice but the apprentice will teach you more.
Nice did, what simulator is this ?
Is this a website that simulates the flight of RC planes? or is this a game you download/buy?
its a disc that you buy and you plug your controller into the computer...check the box to see what controllers are compatible, it is called "Pheonix Flight Simulator"
+FlyRC Thanks bro 🙌
What program is this?
Good tut. However when flying a real plane, you do indeed use your rudder for turns. you would use it along with your ailerons to make a crisp clean turn instead of just sliding all over the place.
very helpful. thanks!
Thks for sharing mate!
It is an excellent simulator, but it did not manage to make my controller accelerate from the bottom to up because now it does it from top to bottom. Could you help me? How do you change that configuration? Thanks.
Hey! Can I use an Avionics controller on this simulator? The controller provides Real Flight, but I like this sim. So, is it compatible with Avionics controllers?
In a real plane, the only times you use rudder is for takeoffs and landings. However, with RC more intermediate flight use rudder to make turns *appear* more realistic by pointing the nose into the turn. Once you get into advanced aerobatics, you will use rudder almost more than anything else.
Feel free to check out some on my 3d tutorials such as Rolling Harrier, and you'll see how much rudder is used.
Hi , may I know what simulator are you using?
the new apprentice has safe flight and the three mode does the simulator too Lee Thanks good vid best I have seen
can you turn with alerons and up elevator at the same time like i want to go left so i move the stick to 7 or 8 oclock im only 3 flights in soo im a stooge lol
What is the simulator? Is this i can try at home?
Thanks for this tutorial!! I just ordered the simulator... My apprentice is tired to crash! ;-) And i'm tired to spend all my time repairing it!
Can you explain to me rudder control. I never use it I only use the ailerons. I feel I can do everything I need to with ailerons. any help would be appreciated
hey @voroRC.... i am a big fan of ur videos.... downloaded the Phoenix software learning from u.....
i'm using product HobbyKing_HK6S_2_4Ghz_FHSS_6Ch_Tx_Rx_Mode_2_
how to connect it to my laptop and work on the software..... i mean what sort of USB cable do i need...
Yes, the less airflow going over the surfaces the more of the surface you will need to turn or go up or down.
Ah, so you don't use the rudder very much when you're learning to fly, makes sense. That's the only part that confused me, I was not sure when I'm supposed to use the rudder. Can't wait to get my TX so I can fly my AXN Floater-jet, should be here any day! :D
Great plane to start out on but the new pilots that are learning need to buddy up with some one who has experience flying that's what I did and I learned a lot and crashed a lot in the beginning but that's part of the hobby. Like they say what goes up must come down!
The biggest problem I find with this simulator, is knowing where the landing strip is! :)..excellent tutorial thanks.
That's an easy fix, click on View, Camera, Keep ground in view.
Thank You :)
can i know the name of this simulator please?
Phoenix RC
martin davey thanks..
Just about every hobby shop carries a form of simulator. I recommend either "Real Flight" or "Phoenix 4.0" What I'm using here is Phoenix 4.0.
Can u keep download link ?
your right about this plane it is great thanks
Thank for your video
outstanding ! thank you
I am currently using Phoenix 4.0.
how long have you been flying???
Hi there I just realized that my FutabaT7C has the control(Chanel 1) upside down in a simulator(PicaSim) when I move it up plane lift up,how can I change it.Thanks
Can you show us how to make coordinated turn ( alilerons+rudder ) , please ?
Have u ever flown a real RC plane or just simulators?
what should i start with a 3 channel or a 4 channel?? any sugestions on planes thanks
