    Well...as a beginner, today was the best day of practice since I began learning to swim. And that because after applying your tips, breathing just stopped to be a problem. For the first time I felt confident and comfortable in the water. I just understood why swimming is such a great thing to do. Thank you so much! :D

    Hi, I'm an starter swimmer and can breath confidently underwater with my float and I have a good kick. I'm having trouble breathing to the side and this is stopping me from moving on. A video on breathing to the side would be great. Thanks! Love your videos, I'm self taught and have had a fear of water all my life. I'm now 46yrs old, female and determined to swim but a wee bit of side breathing would help so I can get rid of my float? ,,! Thanks, truly grateful

    In reference to freestyle, I can glide, do hand movements and leg movements correctly but side breathing is super difficult, there is always water going in my nose and disrupting my rhythm and abruptly stopping my swimming. I think my exhaling is good enough in the water but when I try to inhale through through mouth I think there is some inhalation that happens through nose (involuntarily of course) which makes water go in my nose and screw my head up. Not sure how do I sop inhaling from nose and only through mouth ?
    I am trying to practise swimming daily for the last one month but failing miserably due to this :(
    Please help ?!?!

    Can you make a video about how to make the transition from exhalation to inhalation? I'm having difficulty in expelling all air and water out my nose before I can inhale (with my mouth) within such a short time. The need for expell water out of my nostril really cuts into the 2 to 3 seconds i have while face is turned sideways, and not enough time to complete inhalation. Pls help to explain in your next video!

Breathing is still a challenge but 4 months into this I am very grateful that I stumbled upon you. I finally decided to sign up for your seven day program. It will probably take me 25 days to get through it.

    Hello, justin. When i try to exhale with my nose, sometimes i feel afraid that i'm gonna automatically inhale using my nose too, so the water would get into my nose. Have you ever experienced it?

    I don't know how to thank you for this video. I am extremely grateful to you for teaching this technique. I have been trying to learn the breathing technique for a long time. Lost confidence and took a break from swimming lessons because I was not getting the breathing right. After seeing your video I couldn't control myself and I tried practising it at night 11 O' clock in a bucket of water. Hurray!!! I got it..You are a wonderful teacher. I notice I get dizzy and tired easily when I try to breathe every 2 strokes. I was also told to let the air fill your chest, not your stomach with your diaphragm. I do think I'm shallow breathing, but now I'm confused if air should be going to chest or stomach. I think your method makes more sense. Damn conflicting information 😭😭

    I've watched a lot of your videos and have become a big fan of your Channel! I have utilize a lot of your techniques to improve my swimming. One question that I have concerning deep water. I watched several of your videos about deep water and this may sound like a stupid question but why does a pool have a drop off point with deep water if there is no diving board in the pool is mainly used for swimming laps? Does it have something to do with buoyancy?

    Hello sir,which one is best way to exhale,either through mouth or nose,if I do through nose ,I am exhausting,when I ask one of my co-workers,he said exhale only with mouth.is it right to practice.please reply

  • @ohok6
    @ohok6 6 лет назад +1

    Im a beginner just started taking lessons at 27 age, my trainner told me to inhale through mouth and exhale through nose, when I tried exhaling through mouth, water easily gets inside, just like you said mouth is bigger so its easier to grasp fresh air faster, isnt it the same for exhaling? Big mouth so more air goes out faster compared to nose?

    • @JustinPatrick
      @JustinPatrick  6 лет назад +1

      for beginners exhaling using the mouth is easier, later you want to refine your breathing technique by using the nose more for exhaling.. join our group: facebook.com/groups/442458012814220/

    Hi, Its my second day on my swim team and its hard getting used to the bubbles hitting my face when I exhale underwater, I'm not sure if its lack of practice or something but it feels so weird and the bubbles feel like they get up my nose and it kind of messes my breathing up, and when I am done exhaling when should I go to the side for, air, should it be like on the exhale to the inhale or should i just exhale life inhale and how long should the breath be? Should It be like as long as the opposite side stroke was or should it be as much air as you can get in before you have to go back down?

    love watching your tutorials on how to swim and even though I have only had 2 lessons i've gained alot of confidence just watching them and putting some of them into practice. The one thing I'm really struggling on is whenever I try and breathe front crawl I seem to inhale through my nose without realising when i come up for air and end up choking. Have you any tips as I don't want to wear a nose plug?

    Thanks for helpful video Justin! Instructions I need the most are with my kicks during freestyle. It seems I'm not moving across the pool at all and it's very frustrating. So whenever I swim, I use fins. But I really want to be more of an efficient swimmer without the use of aids. I've watched several videos on this. Read articles. Asked fellow swimmers. Tried to apply basic techniques during my swims. Still, I'm not going anywhere. Suggestions? ~Sage

    • @JustinPatrick
      @JustinPatrick  7 лет назад

      don't use fins they're a crutch, hold a kickboard instead and know that kicks are called FLUTTER kicks for a reason: they're supposed to be light and quick like your heart flutters when a cute girl walks by... also know that kicking is about 30% power used, 70% is your arms :)

    • @SelwynClydeAlojipan
      @SelwynClydeAlojipan 6 лет назад +1

      I prefer to use the frog kick (breaststroke) or scissors kick (sidestroke) for the following reasons: (1) you use one powerful kick similar to a push against the wall of the pool; (2) then you glide for five to twenty seconds or more while your muscles rest and relax in preparation for the next big push; (3) your more powerful leg muscles do most of the work of propulsion while your arms help you stabilize, raise your head to breathe, and control your body posture, as well as help propel you in between kicks. This gives you a long distance endurance (not a sprint but more of a marathon). Speed and efficiency comes later after one learns how to control posture, timing, and movement after much practice.

    How does someone who cannot move their neck due to spine problems take a breath while swimming? My swim instructors over the years never helped me when I asked about this, they just thought I was asking to trick them and I was not serious about the question. I end up when needing a breath just standing up in the water as I cannot move my neck or my head to take a side breath or swim with head over the water.

    • @JustinPatrick
      @JustinPatrick  6 лет назад

      when you're doing proper side breathing your ENTIRE body rotates, your neck shouldn't be flexing or be forced to twist instead it acts as one with your body.. next time when you practice side breathing (e.g. your left side) turn starting with your left shoulder then left hip, keep us updated here: facebook.com/groups/442458012814220/
