I’ve been a bus driver for a year. To anyone considering bus driving you will work 7 shifts (early middle lates) each lasting 10-11 hrs before you get a day off. As a new driver your shifts will be changed around constantly to cover the other drivers who are either sick or on a rest days. You will be tired constantly. Passengers, if you can call them that, will be rude, threaten you etc. The only good thing is guaranteed weekly money and if you want overtime it’s always available. Plus you get a freedom pass if you stay in the job long enough. Other than that I would not recommend bus driving to anyone.
@Andrew Harris: You obviously suck at what you do. I know a lot of bus drivers, and they *all* love their jobs! From what they tell me, the only ones who struggle are the ones who are bottom-of-the-barrel, low-quality employees who have always struggled with everything they put their minds to. Maybe working in a repetitive factory job would be more your speed.

I really want a change from hgv, plus hgv pay aren’t even that great tbh most are only offering £12 ish an hour for all that crap u do.

@@NationalDrivingCentre I love to hear that from you, I bear DL code A,A1,B,B1,B2,C,D in the Philippines, it might be useful in UK to become bus driver?
Highly unlikely, it's not something I've heard of before, if the vehicle is still categorised as a passenger carrying vehicle, then it still comes under a category D license, and therefore you would need the license to be able to drive it.👍👍
@@NationalDrivingCentreI actually looked a bit more into this yesterday and you can actually drive a 30+ year old bus on a car license, as long as you’re using it for personal use (not earning money off transporting people) and you’re carrying fewer than 8 people, you can drive it. It’s on the governments list of ‘exempt vehicles‘ in this booklet they published. I think most people who own these old busses turn them into motorhomes or something, they don’t actually use them as passenger vehicles
@@BikerBearMTB yes this is correct, but if you turn your vehicle into a motorhome, then you have to re-categorise it with the DVSA. We've done this a few times with students where they have converted an old bus. Obviously if the seats have been removed to turn it into a motorhome then it's no longer a bus and they need to convert it into a C1 receive or a C.

I’m a hgv class 2 driver doing multi drop, it’s stressful finding parking, where to go, loading , unloading etc.
Just wondering if going to being a bus driver is any better? Better working hours / days off?
With bus, you have planned route you do few time a day and know where to go.
I really want a change from hgv, plus hgv pay aren’t even that great tbh most are only offering £12 ish an hour for all that crap u do.
You will find different people telling me different things about Bus driving positives and negatives. It can't be a challenge however if you're a people person this could be for you. 👍👍👍

I am a filipino and I want to become bus driver in UK 🙏
Once you have transferred your license to a full Uk then we can get you in for a free assessment. 👍👍👍
@@NationalDrivingCentre I love to hear that from you, I bear DL code A,A1,B,B1,B2,C,D in the Philippines, it might be useful in UK to become bus driver?
How much cost all process?
All our prices are on our website they seem to do is have a look on there.👍👍👍
Are you losing out on business now that companies are training there own customers to start driving with them?
Absolutely not, because those companies are sending there drivers to us. We train for 4 of the large bus and coach companies. 👍👍👍
Is it true that you can drive a 30 year old bus on a car license for personal use? In other words, you don’t have to get a special license?
@@NationalDrivingCentre ah I see so you’d need a c1 license to drive a 30 year old bus camper conversion? I thought it is still classed as an exemption?
I have A dubai 2 years experience pf bus driving
Fantastic. you would need a full Uk driving licence to apply for this course 👍👍
Can none uk citizens apply?
You must have a full UK Driving license.

are buses automatic please ?
Yes, the majority of London buses are automatic. There are a couple of coaches that may be manual but this is extremely rare. 👍👍

can an indian citizen become london bus driver
Once you've left in the UK for over 185 days and you have a full UK driving license. You will be able to apply for these categories.👍👍
Most people just op for van drivers jobs because you don't need all this and throw money away !!
Thats very true👍 But some people want to do more than just van driving.👍👍
Don't become a bus driver if you love your knee, lower back, shoulders, hips etc. Not to mention the stress we have on the road and the fare dodgers 🙄🙄. Find a better job please
Give up bus driving because of the nasty unsupportive drivers seats. Known of companies renewing all passengers seat but never the drivers sleep in the same bus when they go for a refit
I just used to ignore the fare dodgers. Not my problem.
