    He was in the middle of one of the wildest, most exciting 500s in a awhile.
    He got a helluva taste, he loved it, and he'll do whatever it takes to return.

    I really enjoyed the whole Kyle Larson thing at Indy this year. Being from the UK, I know next to nothing about NASCAR but he came across well, put NASCAR in a good light and performed brilliantly. I hope more NASCAR stars try to give the Indy 500 a go in the future and I'd like to see Kyle return next year and take advantage of everything that he'd learnt this year. Kyle deserves all the plaudits that come his way but I think Rookie of the Year should go to the rookie that finished highest in the race which was Christian Rasmussen this year. Although in the shadow of other higher profile drivers, Rasmussen was impressive when you factor in the equipment he had at his disposal.

    • @lorddrac_dontaskmetodance
      @lorddrac_dontaskmetodance 5 месяцев назад +1

      I definitely understand the concept of the higher driver getting the Indy 500 ROTY, but in defense, Larson had the better overall run. Rasmussen is no sleeper, either. I see him improving in the future. I rooted for him in Indy NXT.
      Larson is amongst the most talented drivers in America and even the world. If he gets a second try at the 500, he WILL do better. 👍

    • @DustyTail

      CR prolly should of. Just like when Jimmy Johnson won it David Malukas was the highest finishing. But they’ve redefined what criteria ‘a are. It includes performance in practice Qualy’s race. Fan Media race interaction, sportsmanship and positive influence on Indy 500.
      With that in mind Kyle is a clear and undisputed winner.

    Kyle is not only a great driver but has a lot of respect for the sport and people!!! Do I think he puts a lot on his plate YES!!! But it is something he needs to work through with himself, family, owners, sponsors etc. His wife has to be a wonderful lady to put up with all she does. Being Pro Drivers is not easy to juggle NASCAR vs. Family! So I give her a lot of credit!!! Kyle you need to mention your wife a lot more in interviews! (Smile). His parents have done a great job helping to get him where he is today also! God Bless!!!

    I don't think a one-off driver will ever win the 500 but that's OK. Kyle or anybody else who tries the 500 doesn't have to win to be a success. Took a lot of great drivers many attempts before they won and some never did.

      Helio was a one-off in 21. Wheldon in 11. Montoya in 00.

    NASCAR should seriously consider switching the 600 to either Saturday or Monday to encourage more of their guys to enter the 500. It'd be great for all parties. There's 5-8 guys every year that really shouldn't be in this race. Replace them with oval masters.

    • @DustyTail
      @DustyTail 5 месяцев назад +1

      So you just gonna say a full time Indycar driver who’s a rookie shouldn’t ever get a chance to race in the 500.
      Indy at just needs more ovals like in years past.
