He did play again in the NFL for the Packers after Rodgers broke his left collarbone and Vince Young couldn't throw his way out of a wet paper sack. He led a huge comeback vs the Cowboys that year and kept them in position to win the division when Rodgers came back at the end of the year to beat Chicago.
@@michaelhuenefeld7611 Yep, Flynn had 3 great games for the Packers. 2010 vs. Patriots, this one, and the Cowboys game you mentioned. But we shouldn't forget the Falcons game in 2013 either that ended up being just as important (Packers win 22-21).

@@dirtnugget5968 Big fan of both. But Driver, while he had a very nice career, was not a league leader in any stat. Very solid, not superstar level. Borderline HOF, but he and Nelson fall short. Packer HOF, its a given.
Jordy Nelson clowned that dude soooo hard on the first TD of the game. The DB did everything wrong on that play. He should have broke to the ball as soon as he saw the QB take that first step towards the receiver so that he could have at least met him at or behind the LOS. And with the momentum he would have had, he would have had the upper hand on disrupting the play by hitting the wideout harder. But instead he watched the pass and stutter stepped to the receiver which allow the receiver to put himself in position to make a move on the defender. And with that being said, the rest goes without saying. He just got clowned, BAD!!! Jordy Nelson, IMO, is not given enough credit. Hopefully he makes a lot of noise with the Raiders. Cause he has the potential to be a solid go to weapon if he's actually utilized properly. If not then he's just basically a decoy and underutilized. But I think John Gruden is smarter than that. Well soon find out!!!
He didn't really get clowned. He just got stiff armed to the face mask, which is idiotic that it ever has been legal and even more idiotic that it's still legal. Rightfully all other head contact is prohibited. But for some dumb ass reason a ball carrier is allowed to blast a guy right in the face. He tries that stiff arm in the middle of the defenders chest instead of his face and he's got a broken arm instead of a touchdown.
Wrong. They played a cover 1 with a lot of cushion and inside leverage to defend slant routes. A cb doesn't watch the qb in a man Coverage as long as he is sure he locked the receiver down so he could not have reacted faster since a screen route takes less than half a second to develope. But then he took a bad angle to the ball carrier since he was standing way inside and just didnt't make a breakdown before the tackle and got punished with a stiff arm
This packers receiver core was the best in team history , miss watching those guys! Man they had 3 Number 1 receivers, a top 5 tight end, a great slot (Cobb) and james jones was no slight either (led NFL in TDS in 12)
true. I wasn't even thinking about that when I made this. On paper Flynn's was better but as far as the entire comeback and how clutch it was, theres an argument for him
Highlight Heaven that is true, for me this goes back to the question of stats v. other factors take SB 51 at the end of the game, on paper Ryan had even, if not slightly better stats, but Brady won and by the end of the game, it was clear who was the better QB (not to sound to much like a Pats fan) also, don’t forget that all stats have become inflated throughout the years. Also, the only reason that I know of this is because I am a bills fan so I may be biased
I remember this. Flynn got paid the offseason after this by the Seahawks. The seahawks drafted a guy named Russell Wilson that same year. Flynn never got to touch the field lol
Being an LSU fan my entire life, it was good to see Matt Flynn out there playing again. I remember thinking that Green Bay was going to sit there players and when I saw the score, I was like I guess now. It wasn't till i got home and watched sports center did I find out that Matt set records that day. Now I get to listen to Flynn and Hester on the radio all the time. Such great guys.
I was at this game. My daughter and I drove from Alberta Canada to this. It was my first time to Lambeau Field. Was one of the best days of my life. Go Pack go!
Love this performance! I'll always remember both him and Billy Volek putting up unexpectedly gaudy numbers. I only just found out today that Flynn didn't even have the most passing yards in this game - Stafford had 520!
I would add that the receivers also did their jobs well too... The Lions weren't doing all that bad considering the final score... both teams had defensive problems... and there are so many good "backup" quarterbacks to choose from... this was a great video to show a great game for a backup player
I'm going to nominate an entire season for this topic...Earl Morrall taking over for an injured Bob Griese in the fifth game of the season and directing the 1972 Dolphins to the Super Bowl...where Greise replaced him
Darrian Mitchell Earl Morrall also took over for an injured Johnny Unitas in 1968. He led the Baltimore Colts to a 13-1 record before losing to the Jets in the Super Bowl. If the Colts had won that game, then they might be considered the greatest team in NFL history.
Damn this was a dream team. Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Aaron Rodgers, Donald Driver, John Kuhn, Randall Cobb, and Jermichael Finley. Not to mention Bulaga, Lang, and Sitton on the O-Line and Mason Crosby kicking.
Yeah.. I like how you didn’t have nick foles, you’re right he wasn’t really a true backup he used to be a starter so I like what you did, other highlights people make would have nick foles. Keep up the good work bro!
This game single-handedly made this dude 14.5 million dollars (the contracts that came with Seattle and Oakland) - hey, gotta hand it to him - he probably knew this was the one and only shot he would ever have and he made it happen! It also makes you wonder how many of these QBs we write off as scrubs could actually be really good if they were in the right situations - clearly pure ability to throw a ball isn't the issue
Guaranteed there were studs stuck as backups. That's why people bring up the if Bledsoe didn't get hurt would Brady be Brady. I think with the limited chances these guys get there's gotta be at least a couple who were studs and we just didn't know it. Maybe they were late bloomers and never given a chance or they got drafted by a badly run team and turns out it's the offence that's terrible not the qb. Either or some have and will slip through the cracks.
I can only imagine the head defensive coaches for both of these teams standing on their respective carpets after this game. The roasting they must have been subjected to!
Idk, I doubt he voluntarily left, the Packers just had to drop somebody to make space and Jordy was the unfortunate victim. As a Packers fan I still can't help but root for him to do well with the raiders!
I remember watching this game and lost my shit when Ryan Grant had that huge touchdown, then got immediately mad that he got flagged lmao. One of the best backup performances EVER! #gopackgo
Oh man Jordy Nelson, Greg Jennings, Jermicheal Finley, and Donald Driver(still holds a special place in my heart) talk about one of the greatest receiving corps in the history of the NFL Edit: I can't believe I forgot James Jones
Hunt Greatness It was... the first game of the year after the Broncos lost to the Ravens (who won the superbowl that year) is what he's probably referring to - Peyton went absolutely crazy all over the Ravens defense. =) Come to think of it, Ravens haven't been the same since that game...
Seahawks gave this guy a big contract and I remember thinking if he was going to be the QB. We had just drafted Russell Wilson, and he did great in the preseason, but there was a lot tied up in Flynn. Thank god everyday the FO had the foresight to release Flynn and kept Wilson.
I was at this game. Can't really provide a lot more than what's shown here. All I can say is that the crowd was insane. Most electric game I've ever attended. So much fun and so cool to see. Generally people are sitting to enjoy the game. We did not sit a lot in this game, because of how much action there was.
I love an electric crowd. It seems like the Green Bay fanbase, one of the most passionate snd energetic fanbases in the NFL, has started becoming a bit more passive and hard to please the last few years. It hasn't been a LOT, but enough to where I notice it on slight occasion. I think we're just used to winning.
Funny enough, this game probably cost Green Bay a Super Bowl. They took this game off and it ended up being 2-3 weeks between games for the Packers and then they started really slow in the divisional. On the flip side the visiting Giants had been fighting for their playoff lives every week since week 14. When the game started you could just tell how out of it the Packers were, giving up a hail mary before half and having Rodgers miss throws he usually makes in his sleep. The Pack ended up losing to the 9-7 Giants, despite being 15-1 and having the NFL MVP. Worse, they lost by three scores 38-20. The conditions of the playoff game were very similar to the conditions of this game and you have to wonder if the Packers had let everyone play this game if they wouldn't have been far more prepared.
.... didn't throw for 480 yards and 6TDs. This video wasn't about the greatest comeback; it was about the greatest performance. On paper, advantage Flynn.
This was Week 17 in 2011. Green Bay was already playoff bound. They sat starters Clay Matthews, Charles Woodson and Aaron Rodgers. Matt Flynn performance in this game was AMAZING including the one in Dallas.

They are both so loved by the fans I can't see them not getting in to packers HOF
This was the guy that lead that huge comeback in Dallas in 2013 too. This dude was a awesome backup
This game makes me wish Flynn has the best life ever. What a guy
Unfortunately he didnt have the greatest NFL run as he was used as a backup the majority of his career.
He made a ton of money and married Miss Louisiana.
@@feetfeetfun Not a bad consolation prize.
Nate peterman?
@Harry Engel yeah
@@adamgoodman1196 you and me both #billsmafia
Sorry I don't speak moron. Get back to me when you can write on at least a 2nd grade level.
Hopefully jordy goes back to the packers to retire with the team that he started witg
Shane Davis what do you mean. Jordy was always a go to weapon for Aaron
Who else got this recommended after Mahomes injury
Yo wtf
😂😂 damnn
Yo same
This was recommended to me after he won super bowl mvp and after he got a record breaking contract
@@Hi-ie9zi same
In Madden when you just keep throwing Hail Marys
This packers receiver core was the best in team history , miss watching those guys! Man they had 3 Number 1 receivers, a top 5 tight end, a great slot (Cobb) and james jones was no slight either (led NFL in TDS in 12)
I’ve always thought that Frank Reich’s 32 point comeback v. The oilers was the best performance from a back up but good video
true. I wasn't even thinking about that when I made this. On paper Flynn's was better but as far as the entire comeback and how clutch it was, theres an argument for him
Highlight Hilltop As historical and amazing that comeback was, I feel like IMO Flynn takes this one because he had 480 yards with 6 TDs.
Sean Vang I agree.
But as far as performances go Flynn had a better game. I think you could say Reich had a better game, not in stats but as an overall game.
I'm a Packers fan. Therefore I love this
I'm a Vikings fan. This reminds me of Case Keenum 2017. Goes 13/3 as a backup. Woulda liked to see more feom Matt Flynn this game was nuts.
@@Xion-Rotti cant believe y’all beat the packers but in glad y’all did coming from a bears fan
The word Love hits different these days 😂😂
Have you done a Most Penalty yards in a game?
I remember this.
Flynn got paid the offseason after this by the Seahawks.
The seahawks drafted a guy named Russell Wilson that same year.
Flynn never got to touch the field lol
Being an LSU fan my entire life, it was good to see Matt Flynn out there playing again. I remember thinking that Green Bay was going to sit there players and when I saw the score, I was like I guess now. It wasn't till i got home and watched sports center did I find out that Matt set records that day. Now I get to listen to Flynn and Hester on the radio all the time. Such great guys.
Who remembers when Matt Flynn was in and was the next great. Then Russell came, Pepperidge farm remembers. 😄 😆
I had such high hopes for Russell, but man, that season when Rodgers broke his collar bone was just brutal.
@@tomtimelord7876And then he broke the Bears heart and season 😂😂

That dude was a beast a few years ago. I wonder what happened to him.
When are team was so good our back up was out there balling .
Matt Flynn : "I just signed a contract with the Seahawks, this is going to be awesome!"
Rusell Wilson : "I'm 'bout to end this man's career".
Wilson should be thanking Flynn for getting injured before the first preseason game.
I would add that the receivers also did their jobs well too... The Lions weren't doing all that bad considering the final score... both teams had defensive problems... and there are so many good "backup" quarterbacks to choose from... this was a great video to show a great game for a backup player
They weren't doing all bad cause they were playing the backups
I'm going to nominate an entire season for this topic...Earl Morrall taking over for an injured Bob Griese in the fifth game of the season and directing the 1972 Dolphins to the Super Bowl...where Greise replaced him
Darrian Mitchell Earl Morrall also took over for an injured Johnny Unitas in 1968. He led the Baltimore Colts to a 13-1 record before losing to the Jets in the Super Bowl. If the Colts had won that game, then they might be considered the greatest team in NFL history.
Tom Brady took over for an injured Bledsoe to win a starting role and his first superbowl in 2000-2001
Damn this was a dream team. Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Aaron Rodgers, Donald Driver, John Kuhn, Randall Cobb, and Jermichael Finley. Not to mention Bulaga, Lang, and Sitton on the O-Line and Mason Crosby kicking.
The reaction of a real crowd sounds so weird now
I Remember people saying Matt flyn Magic lol
Yeah.. I like how you didn’t have nick foles, you’re right he wasn’t really a true backup he used to be a starter so I like what you did, other highlights people make would have nick foles. Keep up the good work bro!
@Mr. Splashman77 foles is trash
@@AaronRodgeer beat brady in the super bowl. Sb mvp. 27-2, near perfect qb rating, 7 tds in a game=not trash
Every throw was perfect 👌
I can only imagine the head defensive coaches for both of these teams standing on their respective carpets after this game. The roasting they must have been subjected to!
8:13 well he must be surprised
Tanner Moore true
Idk, I doubt he voluntarily left, the Packers just had to drop somebody to make space and Jordy was the unfortunate victim. As a Packers fan I still can't help but root for him to do well with the raiders!
The Breacher i agree. I think he will be a great target for Carr
Best hurdles
he was dominant that game
0:52 this dude thought to himself “damn that pass actually came right to me?”😂 and that qb sounded just like Rodgers too😂
This game positioned Flynn to be set for life. Millions in the bank and virtually no wear and tear on his body.
plot twist: Aaron Rodgers was the backup this whole time
Looking at this in October 2019 laughing
Pride of One why
im alright that u did not pick nick foles. Nice video!
Maybe my favorite series?
Mitchel Eckman Lmfaoo why’s he asking us if it’s his favorite series 😂😂
Nelson and the backup qb really were poping off. The linemen looked like they played great too!
I remember watching this game and lost my shit when Ryan Grant had that huge touchdown, then got immediately mad that he got flagged lmao. One of the best backup performances EVER! #gopackgo

This was always an impressive performance. Not often you see two Matts combine for 1000 passing yards and 11 TDs.
I so remember this. It was a EPIC performance.
Oh man Jordy Nelson, Greg Jennings, Jermicheal Finley, and Donald Driver(still holds a special place in my heart) talk about one of the greatest receiving corps in the history of the NFL
Edit: I can't believe I forgot James Jones
Jordy Nelson the most under-rated WR
I’m stupid so idk but isn’t he a TE
No one wants to talk about Matthew Staffords performance this game tho. Super underrated QB
Matt Stafford is an absolute baller QB. I'm terrified of him being on the Rams now as a Seahawks fan.

Fun fact: Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn are tied for the most passing yards by a Packers quarterback in a game, with 480 yards … crazy
Seahawks gave this guy a big contract and I remember thinking if he was going to be the QB. We had just drafted Russell Wilson, and he did great in the preseason, but there was a lot tied up in Flynn. Thank god everyday the FO had the foresight to release Flynn and kept Wilson.
Cool vid can u do near comebacks in nfl
When the packers actually had a receiving core
I’m here in 2022. Pain all I feel is pain.
This looks like what Jim Schwartz is doing with the Eagles defense right now. Everybody getting beat
D. Davis I am eagles fan and I can’t agree more
With their injuries, they just don't have the players to be even an average defense
Alex Hoffman wdym yes then can it’s only their corners malcom , and mcloud are good safeties , our lbs are decent and our line is fire
D. Davis after Sunday night...

My favorite thing about this game is that it shows just how elite of a wide receiver Jordy Nelson was, can’t believe McCarthey got rid of him.
The greatest backup performance of all time
Nick Foles : aM I A jOke tO yOu
The worst performance by a secondary in NFL history lol those corners looked BAD
?
Seeing Aaron Hernandez’s name at 4:21 gave me chills
Wow that O-line gave him a clean pocket for every throw in this video
Aaron who !?????🤐😂😂😂😂🤔# GO PACK GO
Frank Reich???!??
Donald Martell exactly
Donald Martell was just about to comment this, best backup performance in the nfl and in college
Amir Palamar truth!
The dude kinda sucked to be honest. Andre Reed carries them to the playoff victory with 4 receiving tds
.... didn't throw for 480 yards and 6TDs. This video wasn't about the greatest comeback; it was about the greatest performance. On paper, advantage Flynn.
"I'll be surprised if he ever leaves the packers" and now hes gone
This was Week 17 in 2011. Green Bay was already playoff bound. They sat starters Clay Matthews, Charles Woodson and Aaron Rodgers. Matt Flynn performance in this game was AMAZING including the one in Dallas.
