  • During an apartment turn, I noticed the bath fan wasn't working. The old motor was seizing up, so it was time to replace it. I picked up a replacement 50 CFM motor - you can get these at Home Depot, Menards, online, etc. - that Broan (exact same brand as Nutone) makes for about $23. You simply remove the cover (2 spring clips), undo a screw and pull the fan out of the housing (some you might need to pry with a screwdriver a bit). Remove the two small nuts, swap out the motor in the same orientation as the original so the power cord can reach the plug, and then put it back together. It only takes about 5 minutes to do if you have the motor on hand. Quick and easy!
