Videos from different jobs I get doing property maintenance for rental properties. I get into a little bit of everything and sometimes things get interesting.
Dryer Blowing More Lint On The Walls Than Out The Vent
I had a maintenance request come in for a washing machine that ended up not having any issue at all... But when I looked over to the right I noticed a lot of lint on the walls and I knew right away it was disconnected or something was wrong with it. Since I was already there, I figured I would clean it up and figure out what the issue was. It turned out the elbow into the back of the dryer was installed backwards and was bent to hell to try and make it fit. Along with every other fitting up to the wall being installed backwards and with duct tape instead of foil tape. I took it all apart and rebuilt it with the parts that were already there and retaped everything up so it was sealed tight...

Cleaning and Fixing The Dryer Vents At A New Property
Просмотров 647День назад
It's always interesting when checking out a new property that definitely has had "deferred" maintenance. I haven't been to this place before, but I have a feeling I will be seeing plenty more of it. There was a maintenance request that came in for "dryer lint all over the place". Well, the problem was very easy to spot as you can see in the video. I ended up replacing both flex lines (I would h...
Thick Wad Of Hair Blocked This Bathroom Sink Drain

Another day, another drain cleaning video. Here's a quick one from a bathroom sink that was stopped up. Despite it being super clean, there was a thicccc wad of hair around the pop up that was keeping it from draining. Here's a look at clearing it out #maintenance #plumbing #cloggeddrain #easy #diy #fix #drain #draincleaning #hair #bathroom #sink

Can This Greasy Rangehood Filter Be Saved?
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.Месяц назад
While working on a vacant apartment, I noticed the rangehood filter was caked in grease. I have been using the Goo Gone Oven and Grill cleaner but it seems like I can't find it or it's a little overpriced if I do. I decided to try out the Weiman's Stove and Oven since they had it at Menards and looked basically the same. Here's a look at how well it did. I just sprayed it on, let it sit and the...
Replacing An Old Light Fixture
Просмотров 41Месяц назад
While working on a vacant apartment, the owner wanted to swap out the old style lights that collect dust like crazy with new flush mount lights. I believe these are the original from when these apartments were built in the late 70's / early 80's, but I could be wrong. I've probably installed this exact light fixture about 30 times in different apartments, so I was curious how fast I could do it...
Forgot My Rubber Gloves On This Dirty Clogged Tub
Просмотров 5 тыс.Месяц назад
I had a maintenance request for a clogged bathtub. After going up 3 flights of stairs and the opposite end of the building from where I parked, I realized I forgot my rubber gloves in the truck. Fortunately this one was all clogged at the drain pop up since there was a bunch of hair and some wrappers from a shampoo bottle or two and all I need was a few small tools and it was flowing. I forgot ...
Fixing A Fridge That Couldn't Breathe
Просмотров 1 тыс.Месяц назад
I had a maintenance request come in for a freezer that wasn't cooling. I made my way over and noticed everything looked fine inside, but it felt really warm on the back side. I pulled out the fridge, removed the cover and sure enough, there was a piece of foam insulation jammed in the condenser fan preventing it from spinning and a thick blanket of dust over the coils. I got the foam out and ga...
Replacing A Slow Fill Valve On A Toilet
Просмотров 164Месяц назад
While working on an apartment, the toilet kept running. I swapped out the 3" flapper and then realized the fill valve was super slow as well (they can also make a pretty annoying hissing sound as well). I popped the top cap off to see if there was any debris or anything blocking it and that didn't do the trick, so I decided to just swap it out with a new one. Here's a quick video from replacing...

Capping A Demo'd Toilet Flange and Vanity Drain In A Garage?
Where can I purchase the handle?
I got the one in the video on Amazon - amzn.to/4fo1mPT I recommend finding the model # on your microwave and then searching that on Google. Once you find the exact part number on one of the parts website, go on Amazon and look it up since its usually a lot cheaper there.
Nobody can see wtf you are doing. Not helpful. 😢
Sorry. It probably wouldn’t be good to follow anyway since that was the first and only time I have done that.
Hey Bro, nice caulk
@@MrMojo23100 😂😂😂
Dude you killed the bird eggs along with the nest. 😢
That’s why I got a flat vent cover with louvers. Dryer runs, louvers are open gushing air out. Dryer stops, the louvers close and it’s a solid wall even bugs aren’t coming in.
Unfortunately I see this happen with those as well. They are usually made out of plastic and the hot air warps them over time causing gaps that the birds can get their beaks under or lint builds up and keeps it open just enough. It's pretty wild. But per fire code you cannot put a mesh screen or anything over it since those collect lint like crazy and create a fire hazard as well.
If you had gone to a Round 5 I would've officially given you an OCD diagnosis. And that's after only one semester of junior college Introduction to Psychology class. Regardless, job well done and thank you for the video.
Haha, I know. I was just trying to see if the cleaner could actually get it clean on its own. I'm sure if I used a scrub brush it would have been done in 2 rounds.
Of course. You put it in your dishwasher and it comes out clean
True, but not everyone has a dishwasher...
I do mine a couple of times a year.. Make a big difference..
Good on you for performing some needed maintenance on that refrigerator. I also make sure the defrost drain is open and clear of dust bunnies.
Definitely. Fortunately this one was clear and the pan had water in it. The condensate fan was jammed by the foam so the coil was overheating. Luckily no damage and a quick fix.
Hopefully you dont charge for cleaning just the evap filter. Or its your own ac, whichever way, bit halve-assed though.
@@Dragon_Worx It was part of more work being done on an empty apartment.
@@PropertyMaintenanceService more work is always appreciated. Just stating that if you should charge for the maintenance and repairs, i just hope that filter clean is not charged as a ac service.
@@Dragon_Worx No, it wasn’t. It was just one thing on a list of other items to do on the apartment. Cleaning videos do well and are easy to film. It’s also a video that could help somebody see how it is done so they can do it their self.
You bet paid to do that ? Anyone can wash a filter ? I’m so confused 🤔. Is there more to it ? Because I guarantee you charge a fortune to clean that filter that anyone can do especially if you just showed them. I know you’d lose work but I feel like you lost so much integrity by charging anyone to clean an ac filter. Just my opinion. But seriously people start watching RUclips videos so you don’t have to pat someone probably 75-100 if not more to clean a filter that you can easily do yourself. Smh 🤦♀️
@@Shichonmommy if you watch the video the apartment is empty and it was one of the items on a list of repairs I was doing there. However if I do get a maintenance request for an AC in an apartment somebody lives in I do charge for my time to go there and clean it because it is just like any service I offer. The landlord / management company hiring me knows that. I also show people how to do it themselves if they are around. That charge goes to the owner of the property and not the renter.
That does not substitute as a proper service. Do not confuse "service" with "filter clean"
@@Dragon_Worx literally just a video showing the filter being cleaned. Didn’t say it was anything more than that.
Well you killed two birds with one stone clean the drain and fixed the waste and overflow
And I didn’t even have to get the snake out.
I can smell this
😂 it wasn’t that bad.
Nothing like pulling horse tails out of residential sink and tub drains😂😂
😂😂
Thank you
No,i have a seperate microwave on counter.
Okay. That wouldn’t have the filter. This is for a microwave mounted above the oven to suck up the smoke from cooking.
I can't find a filter on mine.Where should it be?
Is your microwave mounted above your oven?
Just put it up in the dishwasher
That works sometimes as well. But this is faster.
A little soap never hurt no body lol
I’ve touched nastier.
@PropertyMaintenanceService no I mean you should have used soap to wash that sink, makes it cleaner
Wow cool
Nice job. Looking to do the same thing this summer. I never thought of using the PVC route. Thanks for the video. I'm going to use it. (PVC)
Thanks! Definitely a good option for places with water / moisture since it won’t rot.
What type of wood was that you used
PVC trim and moulding. It looks like wood but plastic so it won’t rot.
You have a miter saw yet still free hand the straight cuts on the trim. I guess the $300 circ saw had to get its moneys worth.
Just quicker for simple straight cuts. Not sure if you were taking a jab at me for having a nice tool or what, but it gets used a lot in my business.
Attention all DIYers about to attempt this. It will not go this smoothly. You will run into many hurdles and will take many trips to Home Depot. Beware.
Not too much for materials on this. Trim board, moulding, door seals, trim nails, caulk and paint.
I need to tackle this project
Not too difficult or expensive. Well worth it.
That wouldn't happen to have been a maintenance warehouse disposal?
I don’t think so. I believe it was an old Whirlpool one if I remember right. Basically the exact same as the Insinkerator ones.
Great job solving that mystery! 😊
Ha, thanks. I still had an electrician come in after to check out a few other issues at this place and it sounds like he spent 3 or 4 hours there fixing other weird / wrong wiring that was done. We are really curious if it was the past landlord or a tenant doing these things.
The first thought that ran through my head was "just run the filter through the dishwasher!" and then I realized what I was saying 😄
😂
Quiet again,and working.
And safe!
But you don’t recycle anything?
There is a separate bin for cardboard, but it’s supposed to be clean. That Duncan box was caked with frosting on the inside. The other box and can probably could have but I just wanted to get the line cleared without making a mess. All of the trash goes to an incinerator that generates steam for the city if I remember right.
@@PropertyMaintenanceService ah only for cardboard not got glass bottles cans or plastic bottles?
Glass, cans, etc. goes into a separate bin. It’s up to the tenants to sort it. Whoever stuffed everything in didn’t.
@@PropertyMaintenanceService yea too many uneducated people
why cut the bottom of the vanity out to fit the trap tho...😢😂❤
I would have preferred to move the drain, but it wasn’t my call unfortunately. They just wanted the leak fixed. Whoever installed the vanity originally already cut out the back to allow the drain access. To move the drain they would have needed to pull the vanity out to move the drain and repair the drywall. So making a little cut was about $150 cheaper. It’s a rental that has a few weird issues.
I love how I was just scrolling and found this, what an amazing thought is that.
Definitely! You can learn or see how to do just about anything on RUclips these days.
We need more mechanics like you.
Thank you. I try my best to fix what I can.
👍 nice work
Thanks!
Yup, and most of the time, residents say it's not my hair
Haha, most of the time that is the answer. This one I’ve been to a few times since they never use a strainer or hair catch. Easy money.
Keep up the good work, and thank you for the videos
Thank you! Will do.
🤭 "PromoSM"
Looks just like our dryer that came with our house. The model... not the tons of lint.
Haha, yeah, Whirlpool and all of its sub brands are super common.
This reminds me of Five nights at Freddy's
Haha nice.
Haha. She want you bad
Haha, it was just at some apartment building I was working at.
I don’t know why I watched this… good lord🤮🤮🤮
Haha, sorry! Drains can get nasty.
