this is a cool level but I wanted to mention a few places where noclip is clearly being used 0:22 noclip 0:23 another noclip 0:29 noclip again 0:42 looks like noclip 1:38 really? pls acknowledge this so you're not listed as the "verifier" (guys like so others can see)
I think this is sick :) but I really wish the faces at the drop weren't there, there's a lot of great decoration and movement that gets entirely hidden by them, and they don't do much for the rest of the level in terms of theme or cohesion. All of the other parts are top-notch

This level is really good that's all I have to say really great song, great deco, great effects, can't really evaluate gameplay since it's above my skill level I also love that you recreated the album cover nice touch
0:00 really beautiful black-space like procedural twinkling effect. The blue lines fit. The hibiscus art is beautiful and not overbearing, and the overlay is barely noticeable. My only nitpick for the start is that the transition at 0:10 is rough and the portal lightning is ugly and not negated, but the fact you fall onto the first platform makes this more bearable. This could be an intentional effort towards optimisation but the block design at 0:13 is a little bit of an eyesore and is 2.0-like which is quite subversive. This section is overall bland because it is reminiscent of an art level but the moon background isn't detailed enough to distract the player. However, the dead leaf-things on the stone are a really nice touch and a good move. The thematic pulse things at about 0:18 and about 0:20 where red mist appears and disappears is in the realms of being terribly cheap but narrowly misses this fate, they're a little off-putting and don't fit. Even though I do get the intention and how they sync with the music. The sun-like moon thing shining through onto the stone bricks is fantastic. I think you could try adding more foreground decorations already since it'd fit with the vibe, maybe like the hibiscus, you could do a hemlocks and brambles, just thinking now. Oh yeah, and the stars are small but that's just a nitpick, I like how they twinkle even if it's merely an optical illusion, good work putting them there. The way that the background rises at about 0:18 even though the vertical gameplay has slowed down looks extremely chintsy but before that it gives the illusion of a tower-y experience and is good. A reason why is because it stops (ascending) suddenly at its apex with no justified easing. You probably couldn't get it to keep moving, but you should ease it while it is rising so it asymptotes logarithmically with the accompanying gameplay. If you had it stay moving it'd feel like you're falling which eh. Can't fix what ain't broke at that point. The glow transition at 0:30 is pulled off well and fits the music. The luttle glow ball sequence above and below you is clean and I commend it. The lanterns look extremely cheap, fake, immersion-breaking; however since you are going so fast its barely an issue. The red outline pulsing is effective and sufficiently modest. You've managed to get the flashing at the right color and speed. 0:50 glow transition is eh. The chromatic anime flash frame isn't pulled off well, it looks blurry and incoherent, and maybe passes as mediocre when it's interpreted as a bunch of random colors splashing artistically onto the screen. The (eyes?) or (facial features?) aren't anywhere near coherent enough. Yeah I keep rewatching it and it's just blurry and incoherent like I think I said. However, the fading out at 0:52 towards the descending tree stairway is beautiful and an exquisite use of ambient foreground-background, with a faint tinge of balls mountain by pinecones. Good use of incoherence here at least. (well, incoherence pathos as panic, fear) 1:02 nice, nice, nice. I respect you not putting the original symbol since it might get you jannied anyway. None of the flashing obstructs the gameplay. This makes it feel weird and slow. This part is rather reminiscent of "troll level" by Arekushi14, which, well, isn't so good for the level IMO. the style change-up at 1:24 is rough. The ground effect is bearable, but looks dated, which could fit but ultimately doesn't because even the last part was in a weak mid-late 2.1 zeitgeistic style. The rising esoteric symbol pentagram thing is beautiful and of course fits this being a level with a koraii song and that sort of strong quid-y hermetic vibe. The transition color flash thing at 1:29 is suprisingly(?) fleshed-out and well done. It sets up the dual well. Good. Once again though, at 1:30, the bricks, and even the block design a little bit, look obselete and ugly. The block design, basically just a copy of the block design at the drop, blends disgustingly into the bland, overdone esoteric symbols. The dual gameplay is SOLID until 1:37 but it doesn't become terrible, just slightly above average, after 1:37. I will say the color choices with the blocks, and their colors changing, makes them slightly better as the dual goes on. The Japanese text flash screens, with the dithering at the sides, are so, so much better than the anime drawing flash frames, they are really pretty, and mysterious, and unnerving, and tense. As for the calligraphy, that's really well done. I could read all the kanji. Really pleasant touch, details like that mean everything in art, kudos. Now, I am not familiar with the anime or VN or something like that yeah that encroaching dark (the song) is about (or where the samples or from that's what I meant), but I searched the text and it seems to be directly from it(?), if so then nice touch! It seems like black also flashes like a flash frame. This is really well-done and subtle too. Oh yeah, the dual gameplay actually becomes really good again after 1:40-ish, so really only a little wobble with "unorthodox" gameplay not in a Devin-like sense. Delicious transition at 1:47. Delicious, delicious -- the glow is SO good, the Ovdfo-like(?) light pillars with the three purple and one blue orbs at the end of this mini section (1:49) is really nice too, good work keeping with the song! Nothing much to say about 1:50-2:10. It's amazing! The big moon fills the screen and is continuity, the little moth(?) things flying around make the screen fill full but not cluttered -- perfect, almost Peeled Skin by akinawoo-like gameplay and pace: impressive Koraii-ing. When it goes dark too is alright. Nice, and importantly tolerable, effects, too. Exceptional gameplay towards the end actually. 2:10 transition is faithful to the song. OMG is that a heckin layers by ""sachikoadmirer""? The colors at 2:13 -- and even the sync Y 1x speed, which is a nice little touch -- are phenomenal. This is how benevolent, thematic emptiness can WORK SO WELL. The little art of the leaf plant things, their crimson hue -- the "encroaching dark" blurple -- so lovely. So great. A yummy touch to make the island herbs(?) get moved by you. Many such cases! The background's basic geometry is artisan. Finally, I appreciate how you can see yourself going into the 0.5x speed ball portal with albeit dimmed lighting that carries on, making the next section not a jumpscare or... powercut. Now this 2:23 ball is the most quid-like thing in the world, with the reactive tiny platforms and barely noticeable decoration, but it's okay for the piano solo. The thing around you lighting up in sync is awesome -- the deep blurple continues being rich and glorious in this monochrome section. The little glow pulse is so good. Probably one of the smoothest transitions of all time, and synced, at 2:45 -- and the ending. The particles are like dust. The decoration is still in that lovely quiddy style. Such a good ending. The structures fading in and out works fantastically, and the sudden light-cut to end the level once and for all -- a hermetic cherry on top, as underneath. 7/10
actually gave this whole thing a read, appreciate, really good piece of advice. If anything I agree with all of the points you brought up, looking back at this level I could have probably done things better if I had built it right now because I wasnt as familiar with the editor as I am now. Im glad the kanjis are readable, also the flowers are not hibiscus but red spider lillies.
