I find that it’s pretty impossible to live on one person rental and one person basic shelter allowance which for me equals $753 a month. I can’t imagine where you would find accommodation for you a spouse and six kids for 1000 and something a month. I don’t know who’s idea it is to create these sliding scales. For one thing where would you find someplace to live that is $1000 a month that what adequately house you you a spouse and six kids? I don’t think the basic shelter and basic needs allowances are terribly realistic. As a matter of fact, the more disabilities you have the more you need to find someone to pay them to do the things which you can no longer do yourself. That cost money. And if you’re not well enough to work, and or you can get a job, where is that money supposed to come from? It’s definitely not coming from the Ontario disability support program.
@@skythomas7008 hi but are u a real guy from birth? Also i have a question if u are in housing do they check your personal bank accounts? What if u are saving for a home on low income can u hide ur assets?
@@FS02012 Yes they check your bank accounts as they require you to give bank statements with your annual reviews. I wouldn't try hiding assists as you could get yourself charged with fraud by doing that as your then fading the government stating that you don't have money that you do actually have. If your low income on ODSP or OW you are getting a certain amount each month and only allowed to have a certain amount saved up. For low income housing you qualify for it because you have low income that makes it hard to impossible to pay the going rates for rents. If you make enough to save a large sum towards a house then you have funds that in their eyes you could have used to live on rather then saving that much. There is paperwork you fill out and they check into your taxes , your bank accounts all that sort of thing as well as where your income is coming from and how much you get. They use the amount of income you get to calculate your rent amount in low income housing.
@@skythomas7008 thanks for your reply, here is my problem right now i was able to save only because i was renting bedrooms in people's houses, but now the rents are massive, and if i pay going rates 1800 a month i will be back on the below poverty line. So i am stuck in a hard place. While i am on the list for low income rental, when i applied i lost my job and worked as a temp, still was able to save but this saving took me 18 years to save 1 greedy landlord will wipe me clean in 2 years. The allowable was 150,000 then ford cut it to 75,000 so now i know a person that is stashing cash in a bank box at a bank because they are terrifed not ever being allowed to own a home and get out of low income housing. Seems the government tries to trap people in and never give them a way out to clear room for the next person to come in and leave. They make people stay for life. Very sad. I really need help do u think u can make a video or give some advice on how they check and what people who are stuck in between worlds can do? I am low income yet did my best to save. Also with 500 dollars invested into the stock market to get more income. I am now looking into crypto i just want a place of my own, its so hard living with landlords that are abusing me. Kicking me out, giving me 200 rent increases and mentally abusing me but i cannot afford to live on my own its too expensive so you see even if i can save and work, it works cause i am renting a room, but i will lose everything if i rent a apartment

With continued inflation, and the associated increase in cost of living, 5 per cent is not nearly enough of a rate increase to survive," ISAC wrote. "We call on this government to double both (Ontario Works) and (Ontario Disability Support Program) rates, and to index these rates to inflation." The recent provincial election campaign saw the Progressive Conservatives promise to raise Ontario Disability Support Program rates by five per cent and introduce legislation to tie annual increases to inflation. ISAC said that proposal amounts to $58 extra per month for ODSP recipients and doesn't account for the 458,000 low-income people who receive support through Ontario Works. Social assistance rates have been stagnant since 2018, with a single person able to receive up to $1,169 a month on ODSP and $733 on OW -- well below the poverty line. ISAC said record-breaking inflation rates have driven costs up so high that it's "impossible" for social assistance recipients to pay for basic needs, including housing, food and medication. The letter was addressed to Premier Doug Ford, Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy and Social Service Minister Merrilee Fullerton, and signed by more than 200 non-profits that advocate for poverty reduction and income security. Signatories include legal clinics, health organizations, social service providers and community groups. The government did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Bethlenfalvy was asked earlier this month if the government would give the program a boost larger than five per cent in light of the high inflation rate. He didn't directly answer, saying the government has many tools to fight the rising cost of living. Other political parties had pledged larger increases to the disability support program during the spring election. The Green Party of Ontario had proposed doubling the payment rate and Leader Mike Schreiner wrote to Ford last month asking him to make the same commitment. Schreiner repeated his call in light of Monday's open letter, saying it's "shameful that people with disabilities are forced to live in legislated poverty" and describing Ford's planned five per cent boost as an insufficient "campaign gimmick." "I am urging the premier to listen to advocates and immediately double social assistance rates and tie all future increases to inflation," he said in a written statement. "It would be shameful if he does not provide immediate and meaningful support to those most in need."
Thank you
your welcome
I reported landlords to my worker. My rent was raised 100 dollars a month in 7 months
Reporting them is the way to go so that those in the power to do so can stop them from doing that to people.
We have to form a union, so that our words reach the authorities
