Rodric Williams has brought shame on New Zealand. He has been found to be a liar by this Inquiry.
Wellingtonian here. Yes unfortunately we sent the UK our trash. If he's struck off and returns to NZ we don't want the New Zealand Law Society re-admitting Rodric David Alun Williams to the NZ Bar.

I watched this one live and raised my BP tremendously. I wondered why he has worked in 3 countries but can’t imagine wanting to have him in my office. The smiling, the ‘I can’t remember numbers’, and willingness to look completely incompetent would have him gone really quickly. If this were an interview its a no from me. But he is working with Dilley on SPM calims 😳
Are they all cast from the same mold? I can hardly see the difference between him and Dilley.
Williams's inane and totally inappropriate grinning, his insistance on referring to hard copy, repeated requests for repetition of his bundle references and, indeed, of questions (the latter presumably to give him vital extra seconds to think of answers), plus his frequent puzzled looks, as if to say to his questioners, 'that's a stupid question', drove me to distraction while viewing these two days of the hearing. His child-like squirming in his chair when put on the spot by key representatives's counsel was the only light relief. Yet he was 'Head of Legal', which turned out to be 'one of several Heads of Legal', apparenty knew nothing of the nuts and bolts of the prosecutions, and remains employed by the PO, not least as one of the current remediation panelists - an evident conflict of interest as pointed out by counsel. I thought I'd seen the dregs of PO staff before but Mr Williams plumbed news depths. I look forward to more of the same over the next few weeks, and especially to the appearance of Paula Vennels and of MR (not Dr) Gareth Jenkins.

Nothing much has changed with these very ill educated corporate lawyers thoughout the Western world.

Those binders are great for eating up seconds that add up to minutes. Minutes that he isn't being asked awkward questions.

I own a book like that. It’s a Bible. If more people read it and followed its precepts we wouldn’t have a lot of our present troubles. There are gems within the book such as “You shall not bear false witness”.

I have no legal training but is it really possible to become any kind of solicitor without even a shred of knowledge of criminal law? Doctor, I seem to have something in my eye - don't ask me, I only studied arms. This joker's strategy was clearly to waste as much time as possible whilst lying through his teeth. Hi guys! Hey, I've just remembered a wonderful anecdote about some brilliant alliteration that I heard many years ago while working at a live music venue in Essex. An engineer was trying to sort out his band's sound system prior to their performance but the electrics didn't appear to be working. Then very loudly came the following angry comment: "F*ck me, the f*cking f*cker is f*ckingwell f*cked! I appreciate your interruptions and commentary. Not sure why people who don't want commentary or interruptions don't just watch the original videos, they are available on both the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry RUclips channel as well as several different news organisations' RUclips channels.
I think Post Office probably hired a very expensive consultant who gives advice on testifying in legal proceedings-not a lawyer, more like someone who trains politicians and business people on things like body language and resisting pressure during depositions or questioning from the press, that sort of thing. I think he probably developed this binder time wasting strategy with that expensive consultant (probably paid for by the British public, ultimately) in order to do two things. First, the more time he wastes with his stupid binder, the less time the inquiry and core participants have to ask him more questions. Second, it gives him a sense of control of something in his environment. I think it was a strategy to give him a way of reminding himself that he can take a moment to think and answer the questions as he intended to (i.e., deceptively or not at all..) rather than feeling he has no control and he must to accept the commonsense views of the evidence put to him in reasonable questions by Jason Beer. It was infuriating to watch him just spout utter nonsense and avoid answering questions. But I guess it wasn't surprising given it has been his job to do that at POL for over a decade.
'I'm sorry, could you repeat the question - I was just reading.' 'Enough to elicit steam from Mr Beer's ears, who maintained his benign affect admirably!
Totally agree - the blundering stoopid act was an act calculated to waste time and throw the leading inquiry counsel off balance. RW is a sociopath.

Watched both days, Beer ruined him. His argument with Beer about the meaning of the word "strategy" was utterly pathetic.
A weaselly and callous man who still shows no remorse or contrition in his role in ruining so many lives.
At some points, the emails show him enjoying the whole process, smiley faces on emails to colleagues as they talked down to SBMs like they were shit on his shoe, not an ounce of compasion. We've all known a slimey brown nosing leach like Rodiric, always willing to throw someone under the bus to make his way in life and career.
The only tiny positive is that he has been totally exposed by Mr Beer and the other barristers.
If there are charges brought which looks likely, then surely they will include Rodiric Williams.
