Even the opening shot of 4 mainlines running with a bow in the middle - i.e. NOT perfectly straight lines. Worth the 'price of admission.' Thanks for sharing all your expertise.
What is interesting about the old brewery is how they mixed window types - some have arch top and others are rectangular. Boxcar without roofwalk also has shortened ladders.
Excellent job and great footage from the drone!! Thanks for another outstanding vide. It's funny that when I look at buildings now, I often think, "I could probably make a model of that building with the tips DJ shares"!! So, thank you also for the inspiration and confidence to try it out.
Great video as usual. Also noticed across from the stranded box y, the parked school buses seem to be contained in an area with a former building’s foundation
I caught the very end of the premier, but one of the things I’ve wondered about is operating layouts with cars that go into buildings. Do you take off the top of the building? Do you just know it well enough to couple up to anything that’s there? Do you just drop it off right at the door where you can use your skewer or whatever? Or maybe a magnet on the track?
I don't know which will be sadder to lose, that neat old brick building or the painted sign. And I would hate to see the demurrage claim on that Y&S boxcar! (There is an old Penn Central highway trailer in the underbrush alongside I-79 North near Waynesburg that always elicits a few "lost shipment" jokes when we travel to the 'Burgh.)
the boxcar by the building reminded me of something I see regularly in Chicago. Go to Google Maps and zero in on West 16th St and South Normal Avenue. There are two tankcars sitting on track with the track connection to them abandoned and ripped up many years ago. The location is east of the Metra yard outside of Union Station and near the Amtrak shops. Like you say, do like the prototype.
Great video. Regarding GalvTech, you mentioned CSX provides them coil cars and zinc. Is the zinc delivered via covered hopper, or in liquid form via tank car? Thank you.
i wish there was more end cab switchers out there than there is!! you know DJ you don't hear or see much country scenes in layouts! no cemetery's beer joints trailer parks and such! even just blank spaces like where a coal tip was took out! the tips in Kentucky are becoming an endangered species these days seems like all the ones i know of are gone!!!
FAA Part 107 license has a lot of places I cant fly (jails, near airports, etc). There are also height limits for certain places. I stick with where I can.

Very informative video relating to colours and weathering of the modelling dioramas and scenes on the layouts to reflect realism
Glad it was helpful!
Yes that was awesome about the bowling alley. Track plants yes definitely thank you.
Rochester -- Love it!!!!!
Great shot of Metal Tech. I work for SDI Heartland.
Love the drone footage, it gives such a different perspective on so many cool buildings.
More to come!!
300,000 railfanning points awarded
Yeah boyyyyyyyy!!!
I no longer have a layout (space and age), but I really appreciate your efforts and results.
Many thanks!

Very cool, Gary!

Really Cool intro on your video DJ, I am back home now with a new hip and just waiting on the clearance from the Doctor to get back to the layout.
Looks like friction bearings on that boxcar. Been there a long time!
DJ I got to say you got my mind working for my next TF2 game
Another great video full of modelling inspiration.
Many thanks!
Fantastic share Dj always enjoy the shares awesome video
That was truly amazing. Wish you could do the same in Britain and Europe. So many good ideas.
Maybe one day!
Cool ideas for weathering. Just shows there is a prototype for everything.Seems like when concrete ages it turns a tan color.
Yeah, sometimes I use pics when at Michaels to pick the acrylic paint because if I guessed, I’d be wrong

I usually have back roof walls removable

Great video! Thanks for sharing all inspiration videos.
Glad you like them!
I can’t believe that they haven’t demolished that building yet
Great footage DJ📹🏢🚂🇨🇦🇺🇲
Glad you enjoyed it
Good stuff, DJ. I like the videos.
I appreciate it
Nice!

Boxcars
That's only 30 minutes from me right outside Beavert PA. Great place to train watch.
Yup! Busy NS traffic and CSX across river
Shame about the fire in the giant brick structure.. As time passes, we keep loosing more and more of the 1900s industrial look..

Where is that junction at the end of the video? That is so cool!
Wait until thanksgiving’s video, you’ll see things you never saw before
very cool, curious the legality of flying drones over businesses like this. Are you doing a go until no type policy?
Not sure I understand your question
@@djstrains just curious if you need clearance/permission to fly your drone over these buildings/areas or is it not an issue?

Ya say at's Jaynell still mill n'at?
yinz comin over? I put a chair in front of my house to hold you a parking spot
That bigflat building looked like a old produce house
That is a definite possibility because of its location and the history of the area
That box car could be used as a paint both
Another strong possibility! You may be right
F**k it dude. Let's go bowling 🎳
Exactly
TRANES
