    Pad kra pao recipe:
    1 lb chicken thigh
    4 Thai chili
    1 Fresno chili
    2 cloves garlic
    1/2 cup green beans
    1 1/2 tbsp light soy sauce
    1 tbsp dark soy sauce
    1 tbsp fish sauce
    1 tbsp sugar
    1 tbsp oyster sauce
    50 basil leaves (holy or Thai is preferred)
    1 tsp white pepper

      My fave Thai dish .. traditional has no soy tho .. Oyster, fish sauce, MSG, pepper ! .. it's the best !! .. great with prawn/squid too .. my favourite is the moo krob (crispy pork) tho ! Awesome channel bro.

    Add ½tsp of shrimp paste into the chili garlic paste and add the juice of one small lime to bring this to the next level.
    Also use palm sugar instead of white.

    Thai approved! (by me)
    This looks really good and not some bastardized version I found in lots of places. Points for pointing out that we normally use holy basil. Regular/western/American basil will produce very different taste from holy basil but holy basil is also really hard to find outside SEA so it’s fine.

    My Thai wife loved this with decent pronounciation. Thai basil really makes a big difference.
    Goong (prawns) version is just amazing. Need that beautiful white rice and a fried egg with runny yolk. Thai basil is just so damn tasty.

    My wife's Thai, and she is a great cook. That being said, she knows I would eat this every day of the week if she'd let me. As for Thai or Holy basil, grow your own. It's so easy.

    Pad kra pao is a stir fry holy basil with meat. I think you need to add holy basil to the dish. It is the heart of the dish.

    I make this at least once a week (it’s comfort food for mw since i grew up in Thailand). One thing i go is add a few shallots along the chillis and garlic for more flavour and add the sugar to the chilli-garlic-shallot paste instead of the sauce for extra caramelisation

    As a native Thai, string beans aren't commonly used in street food vendors. The best way to cook it is the same way, just without string beans.
    Another idea you could try out for a pad krapow variation is with crispy pork, in Thai we call it Pad Krapow Moo krob. Trust me, the krispiness and the fatty pork with the savoury spicy taste is the best.

    We have another name for basil-based dish, it's Pad Horapha, which is completely another dish but I can understand the circumstances you have. That's solid Pad Kaphao method.
