Using the lighter doesn't actively decrease your sanity, what it means is that using the lighter in the dark won't increase your sanity, it will still lower like if you didn't have the lighter. Basically the lighter has no affect on your sanity, positive or negative. Hope this helps somebody :>

The full release of this game is so different to this early access, it's a shame Mark won't come back to it because it is genuinely quite scary and has a lot more psychological scares than this version.

Like seriously terrified and there is no relief. No safe place. I made the mistake of doing Rakan’s chapter first so now I’m never not being hunted, even between chapters the Tar Demon is there. When my boyfriend and I play it we just throw the controller back and forth like “HERE ITS YOUR TURN! YOU PLAY NOW!” “NO IM TOO SCARED YOU PLAY!” We’ve just started a second chapter and I have had the most horrific nightmares thanks to visage. My boyfriend said he also had a nightmare from this game. The resources… they deplete so fast… and when you run out of light sources, your only hope of finding lighters or candles to spawn is in the basement… and it’s such a dark journey in the pitch black to get there. Hard to find your way and hard not to die along the way If you don’t have pills or lighters. Yeah you know how mark didn’t even need any pills during this demo? In the full version you will die in 45 seconds without them. Edit: I finally finished the game. I LOVED IT. 20/10!! It was TERRIFYING and beautiful and sad and so cool and twisted and just amazing. I can’t rave about it enough. I am now struggling to find my next game but I can’t seem to find a horror game that can compete with visage. Any suggestions?

Dwayne Anderson (the Main Protagonist of Visage whom the player is controlling) is prescribed the Chlorpromazine, commonly used to treat schizophrenia and manic depression (the pills used to relieve stress in game). I absolutely LOVE how Visage tells its story, using the environment itself to add to the story as much as any of the notes or forms of multimedia scattered throughout the mansion (i.e. A bottle of pills quite necessary to safely progress, yet is completely optional). Truly a milestone in terms of storytelling & atmosphere that takes the tracks set by the pioneers of the horror genre in video games and pushes it to the limit, and then inverted the tracks- the sky's the limit .... & god damn has it come a LONG WAY!!!! Can't wait to see what "Sad Square Studios" is gonna do next, cuz I'm all in.
Have you played this? In the full version, there is no option. You have to take the pills if you want to get farther than 45 seconds in the dark without dying. It seems that in the demo they were really forgiving with the sanity. This game is so terrifying and impossible with only five inventory slots for lighters pills and candles and lightbulbs you have to really pick and choose what you need. And all of the resources deplete so quickly 😭😭😭 AND the only way to get more is to go all the way to the dark basement and pray that more have spawned. And if you’re on your last lighter and it dies, good luck surviving that long dark journey to the basement in the pitch black to get more. If you haven’t played the full game I highly recommend it. $35 worth every penny. I finished Rakan’s chapter and now I’m on Lucy’s chapter. It’s so much harder in the real game.
fr, i dig everything about the game so much. tho i hope they steer in a different direction than mental disorders in future releases. kind of an overused trope unless the mk ultra theory is true then that could give it more validity in the story. other than that it’s definitely one of the best horror games i’ve played

Though everyone gets hit differently. Chapter 2 is so unpredictable and the scares are all so quiet, you barely notice them sometimes.

The lights turned off so I sassily said “could you not while I’m reading?” Then I looked up, and on the balcony above me stood the ghostly goo…judging me intensely. All I could say was “hi” and we stared at eachother until she slowly backed away. Creepiness in this game is next level.

Dwayne Anderson (the Main Protagonist of Visage whom the player is controlling) is prescribed the Chlorpromazine, commonly used to treat schizophrenia and manic depression (the pills used to relieve stress in game). I absolutely LOVE how Visage tells its story, using the environment itself to add to the story as much as any of the notes or forms of multimedia scattered throughout the mansion (i.e. A bottle of pills quite necessary to safely progress, yet is completely optional). Truly a milestone in terms of storytelling & atmosphere that takes the tracks set by the pioneers of the horror genre in video games and pushes it to the limit, and then inverted the tracks- the sky's the limit .... & god damn has it come a LONG WAY!!!! Can't wait to see what "Sad Square Studios" is gonna do next, cuz I'm all in.

Have you played this? In the full version, there is no option. You have to take the pills if you want to get farther than 45 seconds in the dark without dying. It seems that in the demo they were really forgiving with the sanity. This game is so terrifying and impossible with only five inventory slots for lighters pills and candles and lightbulbs you have to really pick and choose what you need. And all of the resources deplete so quickly 😭😭😭 AND the only way to get more is to go all the way to the dark basement and pray that more have spawned. And if you’re on your last lighter and it dies, good luck surviving that long dark journey to the basement in the pitch black to get more.
If you haven’t played the full game I highly recommend it. $35 worth every penny. I finished Rakan’s chapter and now I’m on Lucy’s chapter. It’s so much harder in the real game.
fr, i dig everything about the game so much. tho i hope they steer in a different direction than mental disorders in future releases. kind of an overused trope unless the mk ultra theory is true then that could give it more validity in the story. other than that it’s definitely one of the best horror games i’ve played

At first I thought I was going to be annoyed by the beer. It played into this let's play so well. Pushing Lucy away. Accidentally dropping it into a hidden hole. The beer was the best character in the game, and I will be adding it to my inventory when I play tonight.

@@azuregiant9258 Rakan's Chapter is cool. His walk cycle his super unsettling. That Dolores chapter though. I think that chapter 2 is truly the scariest of all the chapters. Though everyone gets hit differently. Chapter 2 is so unpredictable and the scares are all so quiet, you barely notice them sometimes.
you can always count on mark when it comes to bringing around an inanimate object that's pretty useless but everyone ends up thinking it's the most important part of the game

I’m playing this game for the first time rn, and I was looking at photos on the living room table. The lights turned off so I sassily said “could you not while I’m reading?” Then I looked up, and on the balcony above me stood the ghostly goo…judging me intensely. All I could say was “hi” and we stared at eachother until she slowly backed away. Creepiness in this game is next level.
