Hello, my name is Deborah, from Florida. I love sewing. I have M.S. and sewing keeps my mind busy. Best therapy ever. Thank you for your time and helpfull instructions!😊
I made 4 of these today. Your instructions are so easy to follow and you make it clear that it’s OK to mess up. My first one isn’t perfect but it will do the job. The ones I made after that one are better. I had fun making these. They are going to be Mother’s Day gifts. Thanks for your easy and fun instructions.
Catching the replay (darn work, lol). Love seeing how these can be made in different ways. I get asked every holiday season to make bowl cozies, that template looks great! I sew barefoot too. Shop looks great, awesome new fabrics & products!
I like the rounded version, but it is trickier to sew the opening shut, mainly because that part needs to be straight and there's not enough length for it, and in closing the opening, I do a topstitch around the whole rim. It gives it a nice finish.
My Singer Confidence Quilter struggles a bit to get through all 4 layers, but I did manage to finish them. I put a TL18 on 3 month layaway with a Sew Steady table & insert. I can't wait until I pay that baby off and can start some serious projects! I love how simple you made these, and I'm going to use that knowledge to spread bowl cozies to every house I can!
I love the interaction of live videos. Your patience and common sense approach is wonderful. I’m still a newbie so I love it. I sew barefooted. Nice fabric. I’m in Georgia. Thanks
Brand new to your channel. You are so cute. I have made some of these cozies before but found them finicky. The instructions I followed used the 10" squares. I am definitely going to order the precut batting and use your first method. I have liked and subscribed and I am going to be catching up on your past videos, in addition to looking forward to the new ones.
I also had the same experience. I used to sell bowl cozies at craft shows and have discontinued because people just don’t understand that even if you use 100 percent cotton, it will catch on fire if you leave it too long in a microwave. Just like food. I never put mine in a microwave. I just slip it in after I warm the food up.
Hi Natalie 🤗 I don't have a microwave , I had a very scary episode it caught on fire so scary. So I don't like them or trust them anymore🤪 love making bowl cozy made a few for hot bowls of soup or pasta etc. I love the one with the hexagon is a great idea so super cute you have a video🤔
Just catching your tutorial a little late can you tell me how much you sell your bowl cozies for I have made some but I’m not sure of the price. Thank you.
I know this is an old video but I have a question about what machine you are using? Plus how come it appears you don’t have your cut your thread off when you are done sewing?
Since this is just a bowl cozy, I don't think it warrants worrying about direction. A bag though- now that would matter a lot, you'd want your print to be right side up on a bag.
My pellon 100% cotton batting says to microwave for no more than 3 minutes. I’ve had quilters who’ve quilted over 50 years tell me to never use 100% cotton bowl cozies or potato bags in the microwave
Romel is my husband and business partner 😄 sometimes he’s on the show too- so people have gotten to know him a bit. I couldn’t do the technical cameras and lighting without him. 🥰 welcome here!! So glad you found us.
Yes, I sew barefoot! Just found your channel. You're soothing voice is easy to listen to. I prefer watching the full process of making.
Oh thank you!
Hi Natalie and Romel! HAVE A GREAT DAY! Enjoy your ice-cream👍 I love the rounded corners. And I like to watch you sew and all your tips.
Thank you so much!

Sewing is so therapeutic isn't it? Thank you for being here, I appreciate you!
I love it! I have received one of these from my sis and enjoy it to the maximum❤
Love watching

That's wonderful! Thank you for writing in, this is exactly the right attitude to have when sewing!
I like watching live demo, even if I am watching the replay
I’ve never seen anyone make a square one withe the rounded batting pieces. Maybe I should try that.
Catching the replay (darn work, lol). Love seeing how these can be made in different ways. I get asked every holiday season to make bowl cozies, that template looks great! I sew barefoot too. Shop looks great, awesome new fabrics & products!
I love watching your demonstrations!
I love bowl cozies! I, too, always use Guttermans thread. Have never had a problem. 😊
They are so fun to make and super useful!

Awesome! Thank you so much for this PJ!
I love this. Perfect timing, I want to make these for my friends who just got a new house.
Awesome!
Great video - if you use this in the microwave you do have to use cotton thread as it will start on fire! I've learned the hard way
I've never had that happen, and I'v ealways used Gutermann sew-all thread. Hmm...

Oh thank you so much Jill! I really appreciate your feedback. 😄😄🥰🥰🥰🥰
I’m definitely going to make these bowl cozy’s
I had a baked potato bag that started on fire in the microwave. I did not make the bag but, I will be using 199% cotton thread!
Oh my gosh yikes!!!!
My pellon batting says only to microwave for no more than 3 minutes.
I also had the same experience. I used to sell bowl cozies at craft shows and have discontinued because people just don’t understand that even if you use 100 percent cotton, it will catch on fire if you leave it too long in a microwave. Great Tutorial
Thank you so much!

Oh no! That sounds frightening! These can also be used for ice cream!

Good morning 😊 from New Mexico
I love your bowl cozy. I just made a video on a bowl cozy that today.

How would you make different sizes of cozies ?
Hi guys from southern Wisconsin
Just catching your tutorial a little late can you tell me how much you sell your bowl cozies for I have made some but I’m not sure of the price. Thank you.
Usually around $8
How do you sew over the thickness of the darts so easily?
I know this is an old video but I have a question about what machine you are using? Plus how come it appears you don’t have your cut your thread off when you are done sewing?
The thread cutter is controlled with my foot pedal. ;) Juki TL2000

Hello from Mary in Arkansas
Hi Mary!
Do you have to position material different if the material is Positional
Since this is just a bowl cozy, I don't think it warrants worrying about direction. A bag though- now that would matter a lot, you'd want your print to be right side up on a bag.
@@SewHungryHippie thank you
Are you sewing on the batting
Yes! :D
When you switch from overhead, we can't see what you are doing at the machine.
I also have to takeoff my shoes😂
LOL! Yup
I 12:09 made a bowl cozy with 100% cotton everything, and it caught on fire in the microwave! A real mess AND smell!
How long was it microwaving for? That has NEVER happened to me.
@@SewHungryHippie I can’t remember, as it was a while ago, but it wasn’t excessively long.

Where to purchase.
My shop is sewhungryhippie.com
I’m new to the channel, but I did just purchase the lining, anxious to get some done. Side note who is Ranel, or Roman?
Romel is my husband and business partner 😄 sometimes he’s on the show too- so people have gotten to know him a bit. I couldn’t do the technical cameras and lighting without him. 🥰 welcome here!! So glad you found us.
I take my shoes off to sew
Same!
Not all Microwaves are the same. Some gets hotter than regular home microwaves.
Good point, Clara!
