    We need another Regan. The "hope and change" is not cutting the mustard. Anyone that lived through the 80's knows America had a great economy and MILITARY FUNDING WAS PRIORITY ONE! Regan was a good man who had faith in the American people; regardless of race.

    A remarkable speach of Ronald Reagan near the Berlin Wall. And... in 1989 it was Günter Schabowski who actually did tear down this wall... He gave the famous press conference where the wall did fall "sofort, unverzüglich"!

      I remember with much pleasure and emotion those days of November 1980. We were still in Bucharest, Romania, me, my wife and our daughter, anxiously waiting to emigrate to California and I remember that I was "disappointed" that Carter lost to Reagan because I was an ignorant in those times. But how happy was I later with Reagan! God Bless him!

      Reagan didn't do it, it was Gorbachev to show up and fix what the previous leaders screwed up. Gorbachev sided with Reagan because the entire situation caused by previous Soviet leaders was absolutely insane and he was the first to acknowledge it.

    I must say that of all the Republican presidents Former President Ronald Reagan earned my respect with his speech. "Tear down this wall"! It was great to see the American Eagle spread her defiant wings in the face of communism. Expressing, to the world that like Dorothy of wizard of oz said, "There is no place like home." USA allowed the slow migration for getting cheaper costs in labor, it was most likly a default plan that worked out better for our economy.

    Most of the comments are satire, however, there is a huge difference in the Berlin wall and trump's proposed wall. I believe trump's wall to be an idiotic and impossible endeavor. That being said, it is a lot different to build a wall protecting your border than to build one restricting travel in a once free city.

      +Rb ChauDavis immigrants have a far higher rate of welfare dependency than the native population, even after decades in the country, and hispanic immigrants have a much higher use than Asian or European immigrants. If you are concerned about morality you should build the wall, allow illegal immigrants to go home, and admit only Asian and European immigrants, or have a points system and exclude immigrants from entitlements. That way there would be no separated families, no dead border crossers, and no theft of the American people's wealth.

      It's the opposite problem. Immigrants from the south are more likely to vote for what the US was fighting against in the 80s. Without the wall the US will become more and more like Mexico, Guatemala and such places. To preserve freedom you must preserve the nation. You must have a border.

    Praise God for such a wonderful leader who talked to the people about everything and pointed us toward virtue. He was honest and everything he shared with us. Pope John Paul II was his dear friend. This Pope had so much compassion and wisdom. They will both be remembered for their virtuous deeds and words through out all history.       Mexicon-United States barrier is exactly the same thing as the Berlin Wall was. Just that it doesn't interest people so much as the Berlin Wall did. Another difference is that until 1980s people were shot when they tried to escape, now the people are shot when they try to enter.

      yeah.. how about no. we held the greatest hatred and fear for the soviet union after ww2 and until the end of the cold war. the berlin wall was a symbol of communism and hatred and ended that era of history. the border fence is there to protect the us citizens from drug cartel and the fact that its illigal to immigrate to the us without naturalization. and before the berlin wall came down we had no alliance with the soviet union. the two longest alliances the us has had are the rio pact (mexico, south american mations, etc.) and Anzus (australia, new zealand, usa). the fence isnt there because we hate mexico.

      Well I consider the border fence as a symbol of racism and prejudices (an equivalent to Berlin Wall). By that fence the US is accusing all Mexicans as potential members of drug cartel. There are some differences between the Wall and the fence of course. As I said, during the Cold War people were shot when they tried escape when nowadays people are shot when they try to enter. The era of confrontation is still going on. Before there was Capitalism vs Communism. Today we are witnessing confrontation between the privileged and glorified first world against the despised third world.

      Heikki Ekman The berlin wall is nothing of the same. People can come in from mexico with no problems. But what you dont understand is that it has to be done legally. Do the paperwork and become a citizen....How would you like it if someone came into your house and decided they wanted it as their house too... How are you gonna feel when you lose your job for someone who will work for half of your pay. Taking the border away will also make a drug epidemic in the southern united states. There will be no one to stop all those drugs from coming in. There will be no one to stop all the gang members and illegal weapons from coming in either. Why would the united states make a decision that only hurts their people ?

    The greatest president of the modern era. There was no question who was in charge when he was leading the country. He was the President when I was growing up through grade and high school. He was so respected, same goes for his lovely wife Nancy who was always next to him.

    It's easy now for many to forget the force of those words, the shock they gave. President Reagan was accused of being reckless, but he was bold, and his words were not only prescient but providential in *making* that wall come down. Thank you, President Reagan.     This was a real world leader.     Most intelligent Americans haven't stopped caring about the world. I am a proud American- a proud American with a strong interest in other cultures and other ways of life. It's foolish to think of the US as a 'good' or 'evil' country towards the rest of the world- we are, like all other countries, primarily concerned with our own interests, and there is really nothing wrong with that...
