Followed your instructions. All I can say is don't over torque those darn bolts. Had to drill 3. I think it was 3, maybe 4 out of the bottom of the engine. Seriously low torque bolts. 6 months, no leaks so far. Car is northern ohio with salted winters. Pan made 10 years, but barely 80K. Thank you for this channel, please keep them coming.
I cant stress enough what he says about how important it is to only lightly snug the bolts, the aluminum threads in the block are scarily fragile. Trust the sealant to do the work.
omg yes, i stripped half of them, i didnt even put on medium pressure on them. I had to drill and tap new threads the day before I drove my car on a 1k mile road trip.
@@jcoupejcoupejcoupe I stripped one on the reinstall and learned quickly how delicate they were. I was fortunate the bolt still bit enough to hold and the rtv has provided a leak free seal for over a year.
You 2 guys have it easy, for the 3s and 6s you need to crack the transmission loose to fit the pan back in. As far as TQ specs go gudentite is adequate but if you're a tech data stickler that bolt size(and stamped pan) it should be around 54-70in•lbf. Allssoooo for bolt tightening patterns for pans and covers mazda usually calls for starting with the middle bolts and alternating sides going outwards to prevent warping.(removal is the opposite) keep up the good work 😊 So fresh so #superclean
I'd love to see a video of the total mods you've made, approximate cost, weight of the vehicle, weight balance of the vehicle, and any kind of performance improvement on a spec sheet. I get that it may be difficult to do, but man, I love the idea of "The car is modded this way, now weighs this, has these wheels, tires, brakes, etc. 0-60 is now this, 60-0 is now this, lateral grip is this," etc.
Noted tip to seal oil pan. By the way, does your user manual says to use 0w20 oil? Mine recommends 0w30 if weather is very very cold, and 5w30 in other circumstances for 1.5 non MZR engine. Maybe that's the cause for your oil leaking.
how can i send you a picture to advice me what to do.i have the same car green also.the oil i think is coming from a side pan i think it covers the manual gears.
They’re typical Torin jack stands that are sold at any auto parts store. The kind that anybody else would use. I use them every time I get under a car to work on it and they work great. I don’t understand your implication that they aren’t safe. The only way I could have been safer would be to take all of the wheels off and set them under the car as well.
While your down there... Just got the dreaded 'click clacks' from the clutch pedal. The interwebs suggest a dab of grease in one or two places. Could you point these out please, the next time you are in the area. Don't want to go slathering sticky stuff all over the cockpit.
Just look under the dash at your clutch pedal assembly and dab a small amount of grease at every pivot point and part that moves. It’s very simple to do. No need to be intimidated, you’ve got this! 👍🏻
@@HiroshimaSpirit Thanks, I'll give it a shot when I replace the air filter (when the snow shifts) as I'll be down there anyway. I take it any grease will do.
Great video on deleting some manufacture problems. I have a question, apart from the oil leaking topic. Is it normal to have a slight vibration on the engine when idling( its idling at about 650rpm). I watched all your videos about that problem. Every thing is cleaned throttle body, injectors, new spark plugs, but the engine still vibrates little bit when reach its operating temperature. Admirations from your Bulgarian subscriber 🇧🇬 🇧🇬 🇧🇬 .
These engines are known for that shaky idling as they age the culprit more often is a clogged egr valve that is stuck slightly open. Please remove the egr valve and clean with a good quality cleaner. That will help trust me I did it got rid of my problem
Hi there, I have just subscribe to your channel as I have just purchased a used mazda 2 2013 1.5 sport. I know nothing really about cars so I'm watching your videos to learn about them. Can you tell me the best oil to use and how often it's best to do a oil change. Also is it worth upgrading the air filter and oil filter. Thanks.
I use Castrol and change it every 5k to 7.5k miles depending on which car. If you’re replacing the standard panel air filter, there is no reason to use an “upgraded” one such as K&N. You can install an aftermarket intake, however, which I have covered several times on the channel. As far as oil filters, just buy a decent off the shelf one or a Mazda Genuine filter if you can.
Quick question; I have the 2011 Mazda 2 sport which has no fog lights. Although, it is wired for them but no sterling wheel switch. If I install fog lights with no steering switch, will the fog light come on when I click the low beam switch, anyway?
No, you need the switch to activate them. It’s a column stalk, not a button on the steering wheel. I have a video that covers installing fog lights on a Sport. 👍🏻
Inside where? If you mean a strainer at the oil pickup, I don’t remember seeing one. There is of course the oil filter, but a foreign object in your engine won’t make it to the filter before doing damage.
Because a physical gasket would change the grip length of the oil pan bolts and you would have to replace them with longer ones. Many cars have sealant instead of gaskets. This isn’t a unique situation. Also, rubber gaskets eventually leak too, so it’s zero sum.
Due to the amount of miles on your engine you should run 5w-40, you will find its much better than the thinner oil. I've always ran 5w-40 in my 2014 mazda 2.
PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION before attempting this yourself! Thanks.

Use Honda bond and that oil pan will never leak again or come loose even if you hand tighten the bolt's..
Been waiting for a video on this, now I need to do mine.
#superclean I've had my 2 for ten years now, and it deserves a good cleaning! Thanks for another fun and informative vid!

Oil weight isn’t the problem. Seals just sometimes go bad. The car calls for 0w20 from new, but due to its age I will typically use 5w20/30.
Wish I read the description I got HB4 and didn't seal. Going to try the Permatec
