Hey Tinman, I just recently picked up a small flux core mig welder myself for making my pipe's. It works great for this purpose and small home welding projects. I'm using the 0.030" diameter wire to keep the heat down for the thin wall tubing used in making a pipe. You can get a plastic thread protector to replace the brass gas shield, this helps protect the tip from the splatter you get with flux core welding and it still allows a good view of your welding path. You will get your moneys worth out of that little machine.
There's one more thing to help your mig welder. It is a little felt pad/scrubber thingy that you put between your spool and the drive wheels. The felt cleans and you also use a light oil that lubes the wire through the tube before it gets to the gun. I got mine at the welding shop but it will help. Keep up the good work and stay warm
That sounds very reminiscent of the felt lube pads that were on a set of points/contacts from WAAAY back when I was a kid. Those did the same thing and I’ve wondered how you could keep the inner lining of mig lines from becoming unduly quickly worn and your idea makes fantastic good sense! 😁👍🫡
Hey Tinman. Looks like we got the same weather. I spent 3 hours yesterday moving snow. The farm saw sounds snappy, quick trigger response. Never saw a Western before. Thanks for the video.
Was in the Peg today, grocery day... ouch day...😂. It was cold... the wind cut to the bone. Frost bit weather for sure. I like Peavey Mart as well, to bad. Plan to build some pipes for my saws to see the difference... some day...yep. Snow pushing day tomorrow. Got the week off so I'll be checking out my buddies 026 red level. Just finished rewatching your 026 series so my confidence is at 110% but working on a stihl ugh...😮. Nice saws and pipe. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙
Thats a killer pipe! Been tinkering with a P40 farmsaw like you had on the bench and i have a carb that even with a kit just seems to want to dump fuel .... Will have to get that fixed but spark and the rest has been fixed. Looking forward to getting it in the wood stock and then doing the bolt ons with it like your pipe and possibly reeds later on if i find they wear down or fail along the way. Keep warm!
Thanks for making Pioneer content. I really like the Pioneers. I’ve been using flux core for the last 20 years in my shop. It does fine. Not great for thin metal though.
Brother, I’ve been here since day one I was there for your first ever live stream and I told you to do more of them so we can donate cash to you. I’ve been busy running gravel trains working a lot lately. Just wanted to give you a shout out to your family how’s everybody doing Last time we were talking you guys were having a baby love and miss you, brother.
@ and I’m not going nowhere brother I wish we can get one more buck fest in Michigan. That was a blast and you have definitely come a long way you built up a great community that loves you. You’re gonna go far and beyond I remember the first two or three times you were so camera shy tell me I don’t know how to talk on camera man is just like being out in the shop and talking to yourself. Well, at least I do all the time LOL. So how big is that baby now?
Crazy warm front down here, SE New Mexico/west Texas. Was 91f here today! Lots of small "mom&pop" shops closing around my area as well in recent years😕 our only Stihl dealer that also did servicing and parts sales closed this fall. Pipe looks and sounds great👍🏻
It’s fifteen below with gale force winds , we’re not use to this weather . Stuck in the house for the next week , got plenty of firewood . So stay close to the stove and don’t worry how much wood I burn . 🇨🇦👍
Hi Tinman, send us some of your snow, 37 / 38 degrees C for the past few days in Melb Aus. When I see your backyard I sometimes expect to see Lee Van Cleef riding through the prairies.
2-strokes need an expansion chamber. A pipe aint gonna do it. You could make a spiral of the pipe leading to the expansion chamber to make it compact. Then have the expansion chamber under the saw with some heat plates around.
I dropped a little tree at my dads place and used my freshly rebuilt ms201tcm i just finished, put a WCS aluminum muffler on it and she Riiiiiips! My dad was like why is it so loud?!?!? He doesnt understand lol
Hey Tinman, I often see cans of Emzone brake parts cleaner on your work bench, are these the 'new' formulation (say less than one year old) or the older? My local auto parts store doesn't carry Emzone anymore only Kleen Flo 313 and I've been hearing / reading bad comments about the 'new' 313 (smell, harsher on plastics and rubber etc.) Found I can order Emzone online thru Walmart but want to get opinions first. Thanks! Cheers from Montreal.
Nice old saws, sound like a dirt bike with the pipe. I thought opening the exhaust flow with a pipe would require turning the high speed screw out for more fuel?
One would assume this is because of the pressure wave returning to the exhaust port? Another channel was explaining how he uses the pipe temperature to determine length. He always uses you as reference. Great channel you have there. You need a dyno lol.tinmanssaws
I love the old bench! So good memories and so much good work fran you!

Warmth for the soul, not even being there that looks cozy. Hot cup of coffee and you’re all set. 😂

Check that your metering lever isn't too high..that will cause them to dump fuel every time..

With a good pipe they usually run too rich and need to be leaned out believe it or not.
One would assume this is because of the pressure wave returning to the exhaust port?

Welding....they make lenses with various magnifications. Fit in the helmet. J
