Notes: There are many sources with different heights for the Comet. The park's website lists 96' as the "maximum drop". This could be their way of saying the highest to the lowest points on the ride. The book "Roller Coaster Fever" lists 82' and finally ACEs "Guide To Ride" lists 84'. Since the Guide To Ride is one of the more current and scrutinized publications, it is felt this source is the most accurate.
Hence why I put the asterisks for the height and drop.

This coaster is very underrated. Airtime is awesome!
I agree too I’ve been on it many times since 2013and it’s still really good it’s never broke down or anything
Nope, it’s not underrated. Check the wait times, 1 hour almost everyday and everytime! Latvia Trakk Is the same way.
From what I've heard not really. But if it is it'ss because the other ones are more thrill rides
I rode it my first time today and went twice. Completely agree
IKR right I’ve been there 2 times I was scared of it but I’m used to it now
"Comet first!" Was me at Hershey. Little did I know! I almost lost my breath!
Emma Gordon omg same
I said skyrush first and took it like a champ
SAME
I went on this for the first time yesterday
Ah, the first coaster I ever rode when I was 5! Whenever I'm there, I always make sure to ride it again.
You are brave!
Fluffy Bunny Why?
He rode it when he was 5, all I rode was Grover’s Alpine Express at BGW (home park)
Same! My first coaster I ever rode! I ride it everytime I go. Sort of like a memory. I also sit in the same exact seat 😭😭
The ride is way more intense than it looks
I love riding coasters at night
no u dont
The comet was the first ride I rode in 10 years and let's just say the drop came to me unexpected lol
I am ten and the same thing happend to me but I loved it
This was my very first real roller coaster and I don’t remember getting airtime. Probably because I stapled myself without realizing it. That lift is so sketchy but the ride is more intense than it looks.
Fr tho
comet was my first coaster c: can’t wait to go back and ride it
I've never gone on the comet but is it fun or scary because my sister and brother went on that ride and the first time I saw it in real life I was like I'm never going on that ever but now I think I'm going to go on The Sidewinder and the Great Bear so I don't know if you went on The Sidewinder or the Great Bear but if you went on the comment a lot could you tell me if it's scary
It's not scary
@@myaleebaker5387 it’s fun
i went on this ride 2 days ago and i still get tremors bc holy hell that ride is INTENSE
And I'm 9 and I thought I wanted to go on that ride but I still am cuz I want to go in a Sidewinder than the great bear and the laugh track
i went on that ride 2 days ago too :DDDDDD
@@myaleebaker5387 why is there even a 9 yr old on this app lol
Reading all these comments. First time was when I was 11 in 1966. The park was so different then. Think this was the only coaster then. Fond memories. Can't believe it is still around with all the new shiny metals.
Ok I just went to the park and I have to say the drop was intense, probably because I was closer to the back. (Idk which row is best)
Back seat!!
Probably towards the middle isn’t that rough, the nicest area is probably the front seat
Ahhh the comet, what a great starter ride for new and young thrill seekers! I remember when i first rode this, the drop felt insane. Little did I know, 2 years later- **cough cough** Skyrush, Fahrenhiet, etc.
Fahrenheit is a death wish
This (and the Star Jet of Seaside Park, sadly destroyed by Superstorm Sandy,) are the coasters of my childhood.
We used to ride the Comet at Hershey, sometimes 20 or more times a day. It was always the last ride we took before leaving. It usually stayed open the latest and was most fun at night. Great memories. I still know every twist and turn. 💜💜💜
It looks like that same sign is still there at the beginning. Ha ha! And that one hard bump. Bless them for keeping this operational all these years. It is a historical treasure - which I guess makes me an old fart.
Thank you, bringing back memories of riding this ride years ago as a child it was nice you just gave me some childhood nostalgia I appreciate that thank you very much I didn't think people actually did videos of this ride this was wonderful and now I'm going to have a good rest of my day thanks to you
Can't beat the classics.
I'm having flashbacks to when I went on this when I was five while on vacation. We saw other kids younger than me go on so we thought it would be fine. Hah that's funny. It scared the heck outta me.
Same I remember riding this at night at 9 years old
this was my first ever rollercoaster i loved it!
Before I went in it I was like “This is such a calm rollercoaster and it won’t be scary at all”
When I was getting lifted on it I was like “Geez this is higher than I thought”
When I went on the drop I was like “AaAaAaHhHhHhHhh this is scarier than I thought” 😂
rode this at 8 as my first ever coaster, first ever amusement park.
I rode it 5 or so times that day. Loved it.
it lowkey looks way steeper irl
This was my first roller coaster. I was terrified LOL (but I was 10). Great for beginners. Now I love the big yellow one behind it :D
I’m a huge fan of wooden coasters. The Comet is deceptively intense, but plenty of fun! The Wildcat and Lightning Racers are also my go to rides.
One my first hershey park rides and my favorite
Love the layout
the wait is always like 10 years tho…
Love that roller coaster that was the very first roller coaster I went on when I was a kid
Riding this coaster is really nice and a good beginner rollercoaster for kids
Great air time in the back, and a night ride is a must! Videos don't do this classic justice.
Comet I rode on maybe when I was 7-8, the only ride I remember I liked!
I'm new to the videos and man do I love ur star bar u put when we're waiting for the ride to start
OK thanks for your input.
Lemme tell you a story. In fifth grade (I’m in 8th grade now) our grade took a trip to Hershey park at the end of the year. I went on comet with my friend burhaan without hesitation. I remember being scared the whole ride. Anyway I went to kennywood just a few weeks ago and said helll no to most of the coasters. Now I am watching this video for nostalgia and realize that this ride dwarfs the thunder bolt and skyrocket at kennywood. Maybe I will use this video as inspiration next time I go to a theme park?
This ride is pretty smooth
First rollercoaster I believe, soo crazy. I loved to go on this and stare at Fahrenheit
Hersey takes great care of their coasters
BigPlayBoy445 very true, except for wildcat
love your videos :D
Thank you so much! It's people like you that kept me going. #Illusioner4Life
I remember the first time I rode this I was probably ten or nine and I had never experienced that stomach dropping feeling before and needless to say I was shook lol I hated it and now I’m scared of roller coasters but I’m going to get over my fear when I go to Hershey park next year but anyway I remember some lady asked me if I liked the ride as soon as the ride stopped at the line and I shakily held a thumbs up even though I hated it haha
This is my favorite roller coaster on EARTH
its hard to agree with you but ok
wow comet roller coaster since we seen at hersheypark
That roller coaster would make me fall asleep
It’s honestly steeper than it looks. And since I was so little that would be the only ride I would go on because I was too scared to go on the others that’s some bravery right there because that thing was steep yo.
I rode it I’m 11 and i am still scared of roller coasters but I loves this. But also hated it!
this was my first ever rollercoaster, gonna ride it with my bestfriend in a week.
did you have fun? 🥰
How was it?
I’m thinking about going on it.
I went there yesterday and boy it was so fast
I was just there today. I did almost every roller coaster but it rained on us.
Me: watching on Comets 75th birthday
Also me: it was comets 70th at the time :0
I lovedddddd this one a lot!!!! I also went to the one in PA
It feels a lot faster when you’re the one who’s riding it
Small drops I can do not big ones ill do my be brave challenge on comet this year
Airtime is awesome! Steeper than it looks tho! I remember I did it when I was like 12 cuz I thought this roller coaster was for babies. Nearly crapped my pants. Then I did skyrush. Holy crap what a scary difference
This is actually pretty steady for a wooden coaster.
uber viewer first. hello... looks fun... I've never been there, but I think it's one of the most underrated parks out there and deserves more credit. what do you think?
+Theme Park Attraction I think so too! So many unique coasters. Great Bear is a custom B&M Steel Inverted custom layout. Love Hershey Stormrunner because its not a quick launch up over a top hat then back down and the rides over with. I think Stormrunner beats Top Thrill and Kingda Ka not for speed but for layout and inversions. Also the whole city of Hershey Pennsylvania smell;s like chocolate. Come to think of it I think all of the parks in Pennsylvania such as Kennywood and Knoebels have unique stuff and are underrated too.
+Deathbyillusion do you think it is possible to have a wooden coaster with inverts?
+ThePhantomHound ofcourse it is possible
+YoloBoy 82 I meant like a proper one like Collosuss at Thorpe park
ThePhantomHound RMC can make a coaster just with the same layout as collosus at thrope park. It is possible but they don't gonna do that i think.
I like it
fun fact: the comet used to be green because Milton Hershey (the creator of Hershey park) wanted the comet to blend in with the park but he changed it white instead
The oldest at Hershey right now
are there any other woodies with a cable lift? The only one I can think if us El Toro, but that's it... can someone name some for me or correct me...
+Theme Park Attraction I think your right that's it. Lightning Rod has a launch lift if you count that as a all wooden coaster. I think parks need more pre fabbed Intamin wooden coasters. I mean if El Toro is rated one of the top wooden coasters so why wouldn't more parks want to get that type of wooden coaster.
ooohh!!! el toro is an AMAZING ride!!!
+jess elizabeth yes it is!
The cart got stuck for me when went up the chain
What camera do u use for all of ur POV's? do u use the same one for waterslide POV's?
Nope I use different ones depending on what I have to use for specific videos. This was a GoPro.
Last year I was going to go on comment but I chickened out and I was with my little brother and I left crying when we were about to go on. So he went on by himself. 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 I felt bad for him.
I couldn’t go on it the line was so long
When I rode that pls I was stuck in shock I couldn’t even scream😭
I went on this if you go I recomend doing it
R u gonna film anymore rides there
Yes I have already filed the rest of the rides there. I just need to edit them and upload them.
Nice
Attraction Spot one of them BETTER be Candymonium!!!!
Mom aunt thought that was trail blazer and when I was 5 I went on that my aunt said that she messed up
How scary is this? I’m going to the park tomorrow.
What if they was the RMC this
This was my first coaster lmao
Mine too
me 2
DaBenjiz my first was sooper dooper looper
*_(Years and years later...)_*
Wild Mouse was mine...
Right next to comment is the first rollercoaster I rode in Hershey park :) Skyrush 😎
Sammi wow that's such a great beginner rollercoaster
Firestarwt nitro was my first roller coaster
i've been on the old one and the new one the old one was more scary
Pocahontas
Is the airtime better in the front or back?
Back by far
This has more floatar than skyrush has ejector lol😜
So technically flojecter
Are you going to film lightning racers at Hershey park ?
does ir whip you around
I don’t think so but there are some pretty steep banked turns.
To be honest this ride isn’t that fast and it’s a good family ride
Philadelphia Toboggan Company ! Not Coasters ... Not to nit pick... Just saying
it’s 50 but feels 35
My mom called it the vomit comet
After the Tilt-A-Whirl ride if you don't know what that is it's like the thing that you're in spins like the Huddle that you're in spins and its Wheels on the Huddle on the bottom though and Spins really fast and the platform that you're on pins to and I wanted to go on the comment put the first time I saw it I was like no no no no no no no I'm definitely going on that absolutely no literally my life my brothers and sisters they went on it but I was like Mom I'm not going all this no way I'm going to be there I'm going to go there in a little so I want to go on, but I feel like I'm not going to even though I want to go in The Sidewinder and the Great Bear so I don't know why I wouldn't want to go
The wildcat is better I think
The Phoenix is better doe
wish the west cost had rides like this
they do...?
If you're lookin for old fashioned woodies on the west coast, Giant Dipper at Belmont Park in San Diego and Giant Dipper at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk are 2 you can check out!
