Front Rider's Perspective on Comet at Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania, USA. Length: 3360' Height: 84' Drop: 78' Inversions: 0 Speed: 50 mph #SharpProductions #ThemePark
@@jthe1337 if you sit in the back it keeps the same speed for the whole time cuz each time you get up the hill the front is going down so it makes it 100x better
I’m late, but if you ever go to busch garden williamsburg ride some of the rides there they’re super fun. To start again on beginners, ride grovers alpine express in the kid area its super fun
Yeah, this one is more like a warm up...people are desperate to ride something so since this is near the entrance.... this tends to be the busiest ride along with SR and SDL. Thats why I learned a lesson and started off with sidewinder and storm runner then worked my way back towards the front on my second visit. My first was awful.. wait time was 1/2 an hour because I was moving WITH the crowd.
I haven't gone on the Comet for like, 5 years! And when I went on it for the first time, because I've never gone on a roller coaster prior, I was scared s***less. Great ride, though!
+Evie Doodleberry its pretty funny how scary it is considering its the first one they ever built. its definitley not a storm runner but still the comet is fun.
It's amazing how much better maintained Hershey Park's rides are compared to six flags. They maintain nothing cosmetically. Let the rides go to hell. But, Hershey keeps everything tip top.
Oh geeze, remember the monorail over to the zoo? And tours inside the real chocolate factory? But the Comet was the best, especially at night. Blue car and orange car. We used to bet which train we got. It looks like they are maintaining it meticulously. I haven't been on it since probably 1985, yet it is the same. Even that sign about keeping your hands in the car at the beginning is still there!! I 💜 it. So many of the classic wooden coasters are gone. Or ones built way after this one are already torn down. I hope this one goes on forever.
That's what I love about Hersheypark. The way they build rides around other rides adds to the atmosphere, it makes them unique and more fun to ride. What I don't like is when parks like Six Flags take a flat empty space and put a coaster on it, where is the love?
So I rode it a couple hours ago I’m on my way home now LOL so I rode it with my older sister so she didn’t know what it was I told her it’s a baby ride she said okay so when we rode it I thought the drop was tiny but it was SO SO SO BIG and my glasses fell and I can’t see without them and the whole ride I was looking for it !!! Then there’s 2 VERY nice ladies that helped me 💗
They say you always remember your first and well, this was my first (non-kiddie) coaster. One of my favorite memories was in my Sr. year of high school my school's music department went to Hershey & I kept bringing up this ride. Soon as the gates opened, I made a be line to this and was in one of the first trains of the day in the front row. Just as I get into the seat, I notice that the entire train is my classmates. After the ride ended, one of my best friends agreed that this is such a fun, underrated coaster. It's nit even close to Hershey's fastest, tallest, most intense rides, but it is FUN.
This is a great ride for someone who has never ridden a roller coaster. I haven't ridden it in decades but I remember my last time, the volume that evening was low enough that I could get off and immediately enter the line and get on the next one (or the next one after it) . I kept riding it over and over.
0:35 And as you can see to your left, folks, you see a bunch of people going to meet their demise in 3, 2, 1, oh look there they go! Oh, look, there WE go! :D
This is the first coaster I ever rode . Back in the late 60's. It was scary then. Very big and very fast . I loved it . Still do. I go on it every time I go to Hershey . The nostalgia factor is strong . This started my love of roller coasters .
I went to Hershey last summer and note its been about 6 years since I've last been on a roller coaster. So I went to Comet first, we sat down and got very amped up on the lift. As we were going up I repeatedly said, "I know the horrors coming, just live through it." On the first drop, the impact made me scream "I can't breathe!" And for thee rest of the ride I was screaming my lungs out. At the end I felt kinda dizzy from screaming so hard. I gave the ride a thumbs up as I caught my breath.
My Mom was born and raised in Hershey, and this was her favorite rollercoaster. I have a great uncle and aunt who live on W Areba, and my mom, grandma, nephew and I made it hear again last August. Rode this guy with my nephew after a two hour rain delay lmao.
this ride is so much fun!!!! its not even scary, and i rode it like 5 times in a row!!! this is coming from someone who doesnt even like roller coasters too!!!
I will always have a special place for the comet at Hershey Park. It was my very first roller coaster BK in 1985 when my sister was in Hershey Medical Center battling cancer, my grandfather took me to the park and got me on this bcuz I wanted to get on it and turned white as a ghost.. I guess that's not bad for a 5 yr old at the time..
I went on this one last summer (my first roller coaster) and it was so fun! This is probably one of the best rollercoasters to start off if you haven't been on one before.
this was my very first rollercoaster ride when i rode this when i was 8 i was crying the whole time and when it was over i was like :D can we ride again my mom was like wow u are crazy...lol
I love how they used so much length of track, and just kept doing turnarounds and bunny hops, all the way to the end, even though they get smaller and smaller, there's tons of ride length!
The best time to ride this is at night because of the lights or when it’s misty because after your done it feels like you took a shower it’s so fun and has lots of bunny hops
That roller coaster was my very first coaster ride many yrs ago as a 6 yr old. It scared me so much I didnt ride another coaster for another 11 yrs afterwards....🤣
Took a ride in the Comet once. Thought it was going to be just like the Barnstormer with the Great Goofini. That first hill caught us off-guard. Other than that, it was a great ride. It was very much like the Barnstormer and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad all rolled into one.
I used to love this ride, but the last time I went on it my neck snapped back after the first drop and I had horrible whiplash! I'm too scared to go on it again :(
I always remember the line for this being RIDICULOUS all my life. After finding the time to wait in the line for hours one day every single year, my family and I all unanimously decided to take those hours elsewhere because Hershey has more thrilling rides than this that have shorter wait times. Comet was always the worst line. I can only imagine how much worse it's been since Skyrush got added. I didn't even go into the Hollow at all with my boyfriend last time we went to Hershey, back in 2013. Purely an accident, we just kept putting the area off and then the night came to a close before we got around to it lol.
just to make sure you get the facts straight, the comet was originally one of the traver cyclones, not the famous coney island one. it was originally located at Crystal Beach Park in Ontario, Canada.
Thank goodness I wasn’t in that video. When I was little I was horrified while riding that. Everyone in the video could hear me screaming help if you get me was in this.
This ride could be a whole lot better if they got rid of the trim on the second turnaround, the final bunny hills would be awesome. Regardless, this is still a awesome ride, and VERY smooth for a woodie.
Yeah, but this one was built 24 years after the original Comet that's at The Great Escape now. It started in Coney Island as "The Cyclone" before being brought to The Great Escape in 1993.
COMET SEEMS KINDA SCARY BUT THEN YOU JUST SEE SKYRUSH NEXT TO IT AND THEN COMET LOOKS LIKE THE LITTLE LADYBUG RIDE AT THE FRONT OF THE PARK
Goes a lot faster in real life
Fr
@@jthe1337 if you sit in the back it keeps the same speed for the whole time cuz each time you get up the hill the front is going down so it makes it 100x better
Yup, I was just on it yesterday
Yesssssss
yeah just got off it as we speaj and this baby is more insane then you would think
Quite possibly one of the most underrated rides. It speaks volumes for how elite Hershey's coaster lineup really is.
This was the first roller coaster I ever rode and I haven't ridden one since
Cole McDaniel its horible
Try sooperdooperlooper or Laff Trakk. Not too scary, just fun.

What an awesome classic Hersheypark Roller Coaster
this one sucks
No it doesn't

Me too
This was the first roller coaster I rode since I was five, and I consider it a near-death experience.
You call this a near-death experience? You should look into Thunderhawk at Dorney Park...
SSS8 No thanks. The Comet nearly killed me and I'm not looking into passing out on a roller coaster any time soon.
+Evie Doodleberry its pretty funny how scary it is considering its the first one they ever built. its definitley not a storm runner but still the comet is fun.
zavier jordan I agree. If I go to Hershey again I'm going to ride it and appreciate it instead of screaming like a banshee.
SSS8 Thunderhawk isn't that bad tho
It's amazing how much better maintained Hershey Park's rides are compared to six flags. They maintain nothing cosmetically. Let the rides go to hell. But, Hershey keeps everything tip top.
Having been to every Six Flags park in the United States we've noticed this too Dr. Venkman. Most of Hersheypark is in amazing condition.
Wanna know why? Because Milton Hershey would have kept the park like that. He didn’t tolerate any problems about the park.
Oh geeze, remember the monorail over to the zoo? And tours inside the real chocolate factory? But the Comet was the best, especially at night. Blue car and orange car. We used to bet which train we got.

My first big roller coaster :D
Mine too
Miss Royal And Mine

My first roller coaster was Skyrush!
Mine was Trailblazer and it was so fun.

I love this coaster. Once during extra hours my friend and I marathoned it 10 times.
Funny seeing all the old people get off at the beginning

The only scary part was the start.

this was the first roller coaster i've ever ridden. I hate down hills.
When I was a kid there was Comet, Sooper Dooper Looper, and Trailblazer.
This was my first roller coaster ride, and it scared the hell outta me.
Everything in this pov was timed just right to see Superdooperlooper and Skyrush.
No, this one was always at Hershey. The Crystal Beach one I believe is the one near Lake George, NY.

Ya do realise that thats just an extra safety precaution right?
dumbass
This was my first roller coaster ever, and I haven’t rode since then until early this November in the last weekend of Hersheypark In The Dark.
the video i've been waiting for for 6 years
I remember going on this ride and screaming but when it ended I realized how fun it was
this is the only rolar coaster that I have actually enjoyed.
The drop is intense in the back.
I bet this ride just got suddently very popular since its close to skyrush and new rides always bring more people to the things around it.
yeah, I did have it screwed up. I noticed a story in the paper about the Cyclone at Coney Island. Apologies, man.
My mom loved this one
My first roller coaster as a kid, so many drops in a row I felt like I couldn’t catch my breath. Now as an adult I’m scared of large rides 😅
I love that coster
My first coaster brings back memories!

i'm going to go on this on monday!
This ride is great, especially for its age, but oh my god is the first drop incredibly bumpy.. like Jesus..

This is a decent wooden coaster. It actually is smoother then some people think.

I went on this ride with my bff and I cried XD and it was my second time going on comet that year bc I was there for a comp
Going there today right now it’s super fun
Its amazing to think about how this was the 3rd roller coaster they have ever built. It replaced their first coaster, Wild Cat.
I love wild cat
Goin' nice and easy up the lifthill... zooom! Skyrush rockets itself to the sky on the left.
Nice Video though. :)
At first i thought the ride next to it was the same ride that he's on
Someone should let Hershey Park know that the lift hill is crooked
Scott Caldwell they have since fixed it.
that was the first ride I ever went on at Hershey park

But the rides they build on top of each other don't suck like Knott's newest coasters.

They should call this the Mitten
I went on comet alot of times and it s my favorite
the roller coaster right next to it was the sky rush
Honestly, Sky Rush being there seems to make the Comet feel small.
In this video, they show the roller coaster from the front and the back!
I've ridden that coaster literally _dozens_ of times. And I honestly don't remember the brakes at the top of that u-turn above the station.
Scream? Does not compute.
This is literally the same ride as the screaming eagle at six flags st.Louis
The only similarity is that they're wooden.
First coaster ever 👌
