In this clip from the documentary 'The Making of FEAR', the band discuss the title of the album, the political nature of the lyrics, particularly in relation to the song 'The New Kings' and we have a little look at the filming of the films that were produced to accompany the music.

The original album was produced by Michael Hunter and recorded at the band's Racket Club Studio and Real World Studios
The band line-up which recorded the album was - Steve Hogarth (vocals), Mark Kelly (keyboards), Ian Mosley (drums), Steve Rothery (Guitar) and Pete Trewavas (bass)

F.E.A.R. has a special place in my heart! I absolutely love this album - and especially The Gold. It's always in the top 3 of my favourite Marillion albums (they tend to change around occasionally).

The Best can be debated, it might be stretching FEAR a bit too thin. But it's definitely one of their best.

This album continues to be so relevant today, 7 years later. Says a lot about how the country continues to be run by the UK government. We NEED change...

Can't believe it's been seven years. Apart from the political songs, the ones that stand out are the personal ones like White Paper which is one of the best songs in the band's catalogue.
Ditto,......nothing to prove like I said before, I appreciate everything you do,..reflecting over the years...I must admit..I've cried far to much over the music then I should of perhaps...but that's just it...feelings that I have from long gone memories that through your music has some what been a lovely comfort blanket, you know what they say ..better to be thought a fool then rother get it confirmed by opening our mouths.....let the music rain down on each and everyone of us in are own thoughts of what we make of it,.its all brilliant but not everyone likes Art remember,..the bands life's & experiences show in detail with marillion......because its REAL....so boys the journey continues...older wiser like it or not ....people....the best is yet to come I'm sure 😉😊☕️ take care

Excellent album. H wanted to say hello wake up cruel world but looks like only fragile persons understood his clear message. Anyway Marillion is the best band ever existed and I am happy to see them in November in Paris. F*ck every one and run 😊
I watched them perform much of this album in NYC on Election Day 2016. Afterwards, I walked out into Times Square and I sat (alone, but with thousands of strangers) on the red steps until about 3am watching the results of the election on the big screen. Surreal experience. I have been a fan of Marillion since 1984. This is my favorite album of theirs. Brilliant lyrics that can be interpreted several ways. Thank you for this gift.
