Of all the ways I could've found this band, it was Last Week Tonight that introduced me to them. And i'm so fucking thankful because this is the best death metal i've ever heard
There is so much to these guys than what's available in English language of theirs. Their Taiwanese versions of the same songs are just so much angrier, artistic, poetic and mythical when expressed in Taiwanese language. Sadly new material from them is going to be extremely difficult due to Freddy's parliamentary duties.
Got to meet them long ago when they did their first album (their best album) and man....the nicest damn people i had ever met. Glad theyre still going strong! They deserve it whole heartedly.

I always feel when I listen to or watch a Cthonic song/Video, that there is so much context I'm missing - and whilst I can guess at some of it, I feel that I'm not getting the full scale and depth of the art - and that makes me sad.
One thing im mad about as far as the USA we dont really have music that tells stories. Let alone about history. If we do its very few in number. I salute you ✊!
Hey, you should check out Testament's Native Blood or Anthrax's Indians. But I get what you mean. There's a lot but there's a dearth of quality ones. I've been looking for good ones on the extreme metal end of the spectrum.

I don't know if you've been to Australia yet, but you should try to come. We tend to have metal festivals with lots of bands (such as Download), and I think even if you aren't well known here, you will get a lot of new fans.
Freddy was in Canberra as a guest to the Australian national university in may or June speaking in a Taiwanese studies forum. I would do anything to go to one of their concerts if they ever perform in Australia. I never seem to catch a performance of theirs whenever I was in Taiwan and managed to miss their performances in London. Where in Australia are you located?

其實原本在國民政府來台前，許多這片土地上的人還是心向祖國（當時的中華民國），然而國民政府的貪污腐敗，讓人民竟然開始懷念起日治時期，隨著與國民黨專制政權的對抗，以及當時的外省特權...等等因素，讓台灣的本土意識越發強烈。
２、用汉人的闽南语写被殖民的原住民的故事，再宣扬台湾岛的独立，真的很错乱
這點其實不奇怪，你所述說的包括原住民、1945前居住的漢人（先假設漢人這詞彙的定義沒有需要討論）、1945遷台的漢人，現代移民台灣的港人、新住民，這些不同的文化融合成今日的台灣文化。
當中國人開始向臺灣人表示抗議不認同時，臺灣人會心一笑，又要搞統一了。

超喜歡HOCC 02:25 的部份，這首歌請HOCC來和唱，真的有畫龍點睛的效果，雖然是死腔搭清腔，但毫無違合感！之前的暮沉武德殿(民謠版)找來和唱的是日本的元千歲，這次烏牛欄大護法則是香港的HOCC；縱然是外國人，台語唱得可是不輸台灣人！
閃靈很多作品...死/黑腔+清腔都可做到毫無違和感的, 就是強！
聽了一些死腔搭清腔的歌，發現其實這兩個意外地合
也還好 大概一個小時重播了十次而已
真的很兇，這次搭配的女聲Vocal在重點歌詞結尾的突出，有畫龍點睛的效果。後面接上流暢的電吉他solo，毫不拖泥帶水，就算聽到雞皮疙瘩都爬上來，還是一聽再聽

Freddy was in Canberra as a guest to the Australian national university in may or June speaking in a Taiwanese studies forum. I would do anything to go to one of their concerts if they ever perform in Australia. I never seem to catch a performance of theirs whenever I was in Taiwan and managed to miss their performances in London. Where in Australia are you located?
