I was in Highschool when the Lloyd Thaxton "Sock Hop Show" in Los Angeles was a popular teenage show that came on TV in the afternoons. Joanie sang "Johnny get Angry" and then she did "I'll never stop loving You" and I've had a lifelong crush on her ever since! Such an amazing voice!
1/3/24 I just watched this very clip on the Jack Benny Show (rerun). I had to look her up. Her voice sounds to me, like Billie Holiday without the whisky.
Back then you had talent, today It's all auto-tune and pitch correction (on records and live). All fake. Go watch a "singer" live in concert and she/he is miming to a pre-recorded tape.
