One thing that's so amazing about Dusty...Her studio recordings were meticulous and perfect, but then she sings the song "live" and somehow manages to take that perfection and enhance it even more and she perfects perfection. Who does that? Who CAN do that? Dusty, that's who!
@@gayle5967I absolutely agree with you but where are the Dusty fans on this planet!?! I really don't understand: this performance and many others deserve millions of views! It's not fair!
@@narcisamariana3023 I agree, so many are not familiar with her, especially younger people. Likely because she's been deceased over 24 years and doesn't get much radio play other than Son of a Preacher Man, and You Don't Have to Say You Love Me.
I've loved Dusty since the early Springfield days. She was wonderful then and still is an absolute icon. Not only the voice but the whole "insane" package .Love 💕💕
Classic Dusty Springfield...pure emotion and perfection. This performance will stand up for 100 years or more. Her talent has withstood the test of time and will continue to astound listeners for generations I hope. I've often wondered what kind of appropriate memorial could be built to honor Dusty, but I think that she actually built it herself years ago...and here it is. I'm just going to listen to it again. Thanks for posting this and all of the wonderful Dusty clips.
....Beautiful Dusty.... She sings so Effortlessly....What a 'Look' Dusty had! She didn't need to Jump off a Roof, Twirk or Degrade Herself for Publicity..... She had way too Much Class to Act like an Idiot!! RIP Sweetly Dusty.....
Dusty always put one hundred and ten percent in to her singing whether it was live or a recording she was amazing! Always sang with such feeling and emotion! God bless you Dusty your very much missed!❤❤
magic simply magic, she was the best, no arguement, so called artsist win x factor and go to number one, they vanish then never to be seen again,Dusty goes on and on,nobody will ever get tired of hearing her voice. and nobody will ever forget her.
Dusty, I'll never stop loving YOU! You were the greatest singer and live performer ever. Hard to pick my favorite performance of yours but this is one of the top ones!
This girl could make a hit singing her shopping list, love you forever Dusty, I'm so glad you were there through my teenage years. Love & respects Ray ♥
Thanks for posting this as well as numerous other vids of Dusty. Dusty has an almost magical command over her songs, and just like Petula, her contemporary from the UK, produced some incredible period videos that show the charm and class of that time that far outshines anything from today. This is a generalization of course, but Dusty's songs are darker and more serious in tone than Petula who had many light hearted, feel good happy songs.
Petula could belt them out and had a lot of dramatic recordings full of emotion but they would not released as singles for the most part check out some of her albums and you'll see!
The public fell into a coma and lost the power to demand quality and truth such as this brilliant talent. No tricks, no digital shit to amplify or whatever..... Not one singer from Madonna to Byonce or whoever the latest fad is, could sing live onstage without their gimmicks and fireworks and sound good. There are no more real voices only computer sounds.
Great redition of a Doris Day hit from 1955. She brings it up to date for the 60's. One of the best covers of Doris' hit song..Dusty was in her own class. An amazing singer and talent. She should have recorded a "James Bond" song for the movie. Amazingly powerful performance ! 💙
Yes, but IMO she should have been right up there with Elvis and The Beatles. She was certainly a better singer and could sing any style of music imaginable.
You have great taste in Music.i wish you great success.I have visitors in the next few days and im supposed to tidied their room. oops you tube time is endless pleasure.
Great stuff. Does anyone else find her hair absolutley fascinating...how did it stay up? hundeds of pins? here does the real end and the 'hair piece' start?
But Dusty was pretty much in control of her own career. The things that you say cost her artistic credibility are the things she wanted to do. Would her career have been better artistically without "Look of Love" and "You Don't Have to...?" I think she wasnt as interested in psychedelic rock as she was in working with Bacharach and singing those big ballads. Plus, the "in crowd" of the time couldn't accept soul if it sounded too sophisticated, and Dusty was always more Dionne than Aretha.
Dusty is wonderful. I suggest anyone who likes this tune listen to ed Bickert- beautiful without the sentimentality. Both great in different ways tho partial to Bickert. Great stuff.
The decision would have been made by penny-pinching managers. There were loads of good stuff wiped - including most of the earlier b&w episodes of 'Till Death Us Do Part''. However, with a little bit of intelligence, the 'wiper' could have put them aside. I'd have stored them at home. I would have wiped Terry & June though.
I don't think she'd have gone over well at The Fillmore or the big festivals. To that crowd, someone who sang with an orchestra, did straight versions of showtunes and standards, and appeared on TV wearing evening gowns, especially if she also did soul covers, wouldn't have seemed "authentic." Don't get me wrong, I think she was a dozen times the singer Janis Joplin was, both in technique and emotional power, but she would have been unfairly dismissed as "not hip" like the Beach Boys were.
More credit to her for not capitulating. I think in the "lost years" is a myth. For the most part she did what she wanted to do. I like the fact that as an artist she kept searching and trying new things, and she wanted to live her life. I don't get the sense that she was trying to regain something artistically.
This is one of the prettiest pop tunes ever written. Doris Day's rendition from the movie "Love Me or Leave Me" is incredible. But this version is the most disgusting garbage I've ever heard -- Dusty Springfield had no business doing this song. Absolute garbage!!
One thing that's so amazing about Dusty...Her studio recordings were meticulous and perfect, but then she sings the song "live" and somehow manages to take that perfection and enhance it even more and she perfects perfection.

Oh that voice! You're either born with it or you aren't... Dusty was! I'm so grateful that she shared it with us. IMO she was and is "The Voice".
No effort pure brilliance clear no screaming just amazing
When she hit those notes, I had to close my eyes - almost too much for this mere mortal. Wow, thanks Dusty, never better.
She eases into this song divinely, begins to soar and belts it out at the end. What a singer.
So happy because of You Tube,we can see these gems. The greatest.
Nicest looking female recording artist of all time and forever.....and ever
Mind blowing talent to attempt a song like this live....flawlessly & beautifully delivering moments like at 1:35 & 2:20. Incredible.

7/31/13 - 8/4/17. "Happy Anniversary" Dale. You left too soon. I miss you every day.
I wonder if the rest of this first series ( 1966 ) will ever turn up. I believe less than half of it exsists.
I'm supposed to look for a job. Instead I'm looking for Dusty.

Great news.
Try telephone book also. If she had sung it you would look under 'D' for Dusty because no one else could sing it and she would be the only diva listed
GOOSE BUMPS XOXO

Sherre class.
After Piaf, there's Dusty. Quintessential balladers.
GREAT🎉
Not to mention the ITV series too that was also wiped.
That's awful! The BBC wiped her entire final series absolutely dreadful!
I believe it was. If I remember rightly, it's mentioned in her write up on Wikipedia.
Doris Day sang this song in .....Romance on the High Sea's

My favorite singer of Burt Bacharach material!
I read that some idiot deleted the tapes in order to re-use them. No doubt they were used for some Terry & June nonsense, and I bet that was kept.
I know they used to wipe the tapes at the BBC plus a lot of the master tapes were wiped in the 1990's absolutely awful!
Dusty is wonderful. I suggest anyone who likes this tune listen to ed Bickert- beautiful without the sentimentality. Both great in different ways tho partial to Bickert. Great stuff.
Doris Day sang this song in something high seas????this performer is just different then Miss Day,,,,,,,,a great kind of different.....
Just listen to the lyrics.
How much hair she had....do you know who was her stylist?that dress was really pretty and it suited her
Anyone know..did she ever record this song? I thought I had everything she had recorded...
Was she great or what.White soul sister
