I just loved it when Bobby Darin plays at being goofy, he's so cute.... Joanie Sommers is one lucky girl to sing with Bobby in this clip, they made a cute couple, such a genuine pleasure to watch again.... Wonderful television history right here..... REST IN PESCE BOBBY DARIN YOU ARE LOVED, MISSED, NEVER EVER FORGOTTEN !!!!!!
I just saw the movie beyond the sea. It made me cry. It was great, and brought back so many beautiful memories about a very talented couple. It was an amazing love story and a story about Bobby who had everything stacked against and yet he came out on top.
How about those key changes with no instrumental cues? I should have learned of Joanie Sommers wonderful talent much earlier. Imagine if this tape was methodically cleaned up.
Two great talents there. A shame Joanie didn't get more, as you say. I only know of her because she had a "hit" record on the UK's Northern Soul scene, Don't Pity Me. A record played in the underground soul clubs in Britain.
Someone here said that Joanie was very underrated. That may be, but certainly not by me! I'm just scratching the surface of even just the first phases of her accumulation of recordings. I feel fortunate to have stumbled upon her Brazil/Bossa Nova LP album. The record hunt and collecting will continue........! (-- just like it did for my "completish" Jack Jones collection) P.S. Just finished watching Jack and Joanie together singing, "Call Me" on Joan Crawford's variety TV Show.

Joanie had the chops, man.
I should have became hip much earlier.

lasnubes93 Kevin Spacey did such an amazing job singing as well.
Kevin Spacey was too old to play Bobby Darin
Eight minuets of pure heaven.
Two of the greats....very good match here
Thanks for posting this. Charming... from another age and another time.
we could have gotten so much more from Joanie Sommers....Very underrated.

I wonder if she ever did any performing on Broadway...she has it all....looks, comedic timing, great versatile voice...such a vast talent.

She had a top 10, pop hit in 1962 called, Johnny Get Angry.
@@Ransomhandsome That was in America. Sadly she got no recognition here in the UK until the northern soul scene picked up Don't Pity Me.
Very special, C Ying Ho‼️ Many thanks :-)

TY for the upload, a great clip. :-)
With the glasses on he looks and acts like a mixture of Woody Allen and Jerry Lewis.
Love this channel!
I remember seeing Joanie, my cousin, on this show.

Drums having a good time dropping sweet bombs.
Before Bobby's transition to social issues in his music
No auto tune needed here
I bet you ol' Connie Francis didn't like this ... no, not one bit!
Corny? Maybe a little bit in 2024 but the talent and creativity is awesome!
Good buz roll starting at about 1:17, at least
I think Joanie kind of like this guy.
Why didn't he marry her
Bobby married beautiful Sandra Dee.
transitional
The audio mix on this is just
Terrible, orchestra is wat to loud
Joanie can not be heard over the band.
